Sheng Hao's wrinkly lips curved into a small smile as the door creaked open. The tray was heavy on his bony arms, but he held on tightly as he felt his son's imposing figure stop before him.

"I didn't ask for any food." Sheng Hai pulled the door half-closed behind him. There was an unconscious need to hide his mate from all the prying eyes around them.

"Ay, I just thought you would be hungry." Sheng Hao said meekly, shifting on his feet.

Sheng Hai's brows arched ever so slightly, but he quickly took the tray as he saw his father's hands shaking under the weight.

"Next time, just ask one of the crew to bring the food," Sheng Hai mumbled.

The father and son stood awkwardly before the cabin, having nothing to say. The light wind blew over the ship, fluttering the hems of their robes.
