The Cat and his White Rabbit, Tu ShuYin [8]

[Present]

Sheng Hao's body was buried on a hill that faced the ocean from the border of Qiu. There, another grave had already been taken over by Tiger Lilies.

Sheng Hai watched as the coffin was laid down to the earth beside the lone grave. "He had been away all these years, but in death, they shall reunite again."

"He can rest in peace now beside your mother," XueYa said, clasping Sheng Hai's shoulder gently.

"This is the least I could do for him," Sheng Hai whispered, his eyes distant as he looked over the ocean waves that crashed into the shore, the boats that rocked in the gentle currents. "I never called him father."

"Hai-"

"I'm the worst child," Sheng Hai chuckled, his voice hollow, empty as it was carried away with the light wind. "I was so sure he didn't care. So sure he left mom and me because we were a burden-"

"Don't say that, Hai. He did what he thought was best. And this was his way to prove his love for you."
