Carrying Zarya in his arms, Erwin heaved a deep sigh before beginning his walk back to the cave. 

The old man didn't mind the fact that the little girl's blood was staining his garment. That's the least he could do for her. By allowing her to have a choice, Erwin had become responsible for Zarya's life.

As a result, his freedom to choose his fate had vanished. 

To see his decision through was the only path for him. 

His stroll was as quiet as could be. Zarya's even breathing merged with the sounds of the forest. However, there was something that only Erwin could hear. It was the loud and erratic beating of his heart. 

In all honesty, Erwin wasn't concerned about how the other Orschettas saw him. If he stopped and tried to convince every single person to be in favor of his actions, he wouldn't be able to accomplish anything.
