Bocahr Settlement: The Journey (5)

Feeling the heat of the sun rays -- filtering through the trees -- penetrate his eyelids, Erwin regained his consciousness.

He didn't open his eyes right away. If anything he closed it tighter as the worst of headaches had visited him. He felt as if a stone mallet was repeatedly hitting his head. The old man sensed his entire body's stiffness. There were some parts where the pain was sharp.

Erwin groaned as he tried to recall what brought him to that situation. However, his mind went blank every time he attempted.

As he was about to open his eyes, the head-splitting ache struck once again. He grunted, curling up his body to lessen the pain. Once he did so, the rough pieces of dirt scratched his skin, drawing several drops of blood.

He just laid there on the cold, hard ground, bewildered about what's happening to him.
