Romanoff Dukedom: Plan (14)

Ius wanted to get out of that room.

He didn't want to hear how heartbroken Dorothea was. He was afraid to face the tears of the woman whose world he had destroyed.

His mother, on the other hand, comforted the old woman. The Duchess didn't say a word. She just let Dorothea cry in her arms.

And that was enough.

She didn't need to do anything more to comfort Dorothea.

"If… If I have the choice, I would have told him to quit his job." Dorothea said in between tears, "I know he's been having a hard time lately. I just wasn't prepared to leave the Dukedom. That's why we stayed here."

The Duchess just nodded at every word that came out of Dorothea's mouth. She didn't want to interrupt the old woman, let alone add to her grievances. If there's anything that she could do, it would be to accompany Dorothea till she could be on her own again.
