[AT] Music Sheet...
[After Transition]
"Hey, Mr James. I wouldn't call it a motive, but the man probably happiest about Kevin Hale's death is probably the other mayoral candidate, Shaun Masters." Current mayor Karl Tate immediately starts to cast doubt at his now only opponent for re-election Shaun Masters and of course he doesn't take too kindly to this, but I should have known that it would be the bigwigs who would immediately try and take advantage of this and get some benefits for themselves, I can tell already that I am going to have to sieve through a heap load of shit to uncover the truth. "W-What, what did you say? I could say the same thing about you, Mayor Tate." Shaun Masters starts to accuse back saying that they are both equally suspicious which I can understand as they both benefit from having the winning candidate dead to give them a chance to win but honestly I could do without their bias and investigate on my own but that is getting a bit hard with them yapping on and on, right now they are both bickering back and forth trying to blame each other and cast doubt on one another which I wouldn't usually mind but right now I'm trying to conduct an investigation and unfortunately, I need to ask these two assholes a few questions given that they are both of pretty high status in this village and so they should have the most access and information with them.
"Now, now. Try to calm down, no need to lose your head. By the way, how long has that piano been here?" I try to calm them down and ask some questions starting with some questions about the piano since this whole case seems to revolve around it but before they can even get a word in edgewise the butler/aid Harold buts in to answer, he sure is looking a lot more calm now whereas before he was the one freaking out the most about the curse and now that I think of it that makes him a bit suspicious since he was apparently the one to discover the body of the last mayor and this time he screamed about the curse which would've made everyone run if I had not been here to defuse the situation and maybe that was his plan as he would be able to procure the tape recorder while everyone was running. "Actually, that piano is a gift. it was given to the community centre as a gift from Aaron Kane 15 years ago. This piano, it's been here ever since. He even left his own mark on it; he left his name on top of the lid. That was why we thought the piano is cursed, because it was a gift to the community centre from him and he even marked the piano with his name as well, so we obviously thought that he had cursed the piano."
The fact that the piano was from Aaron Kane and he even marked it with his name would lead someone to indeed think that the piano was cursed especially when you are aware of the magical side of the world like me but I had clearly disproven magics work here when I found the tape recorder inside the piano which was actually the cause of Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata' playing so I had no reason to worry about approaching and touching the piano and I did so walking up to it and put the lid down to see Aaron Kane's name on the top of the lid but when I did so I discovered something else, when I pulled down the key lid I did not see Aaron Kane's name on it since my eyes were brought to a more immediate item which was in the form of a piece of sheet music which had been hidden between the piano and the key lid and this confused me as to why would sheet music be there when apparently no one has touched this piano in over 8 years except for the criminal so why would sheet music be placed here when the criminal played the song on a tape recorder and not the piano and I voice my confusion aloud to the people in the room regarding the sheet music. "Huh, what's this? Sheet music?" I say and as soon as everyone registers my voice, they all immediately go pale and let out little shocked breathes clearly seeing something here which I don't see in particular, I pay most of my attention to those who have the biggest reaction (as big as a reaction you can give when you are just gasping), I take note of the fact Dr Alex Nichols, the butler Harold, The mayor's daughter, her boyfriend, Shaun masters, the current mayor Tate and the weird guy behind him who is seriously on the verge of a meltdown.
"Hmm, weird. Very odd, this wasn't here when I looked at it this morning." After I said that the weird guy stood behind Karl Tate (who I can only describe as thin and lanky with a sallow, sunken face and unkempt hair, wearing the same black memorial suit as everyone else) lets out a shrill scream and does a full 180 before taking off at a full sprint and running out of the room down the hallway and out of the entrance weirding everyone out in the process and making us suspicious as well, I could of easily ran after him and caught him but I'm not here to be a hero but to be a detective and so I will solve the mystery going on in this village and leave the capture to the police unless my intervention is needed and so I just stood still with everyone else as the man ran off screaming but even so just reacting like that doesn't mean that the man is guilty even though it makes him a little suspicious as the man could've just been more of an avid believer of magic than others and so reacted like that (maybe he could've even had an encounter with the occult before, no one could blame him if he indeed has and that is the reason he has ran off). "So then, who was that? And why did he run off? Does anyone want to fill me in?" In response to my question Harold the butler/aid moves closer to me and steps in to answer my questions, this guy sure is being helpful for some reason or maybe it is just because he is a butler, and he likes to be helpful.
"That man, his name is Kyle Newman. That man was quite prosperous and wealthy a long time ago but after the death of the previous mayor two years ago. Kyle Newman began to shut himself inside his home, for some reason. Actually, I think I remember someone saying that Mayor Tate and Kyle Newman were childhood friends or something. Right, Mayor Tate?" Mayor Tate is surprised to be called on but he affirms what Harold is saying though it does seem to be reluctant but this does make it seem to be more than a coincidence that Kyle Newman started to shut himself in his home since the death of the mayor two years ago which makes him a definite suspect in my book and one of the most important people to question since he probably knows something and what makes it more suspicious id the fact that he is friends with the current mayor that took over once Mayor Kington was dead but I still feel that there is more to it than that, adding this information on top of the fact that he ran away scared after I revealed the sheet music just makes him more suspicious as I had already revealed that the song had come from the tape recorder hidden inside the piano so he clearly knew that the curse isn't real or was less likely to be real but he still ran off for some reason and this sheet music isn't very ominous or something.
Suddenly an slim old man with greying hair, a grey bushy moustache and some square glasses runs into the room panting hard with his hands on his knees and when I take a closer look at him I notice that he is wearing blue pants, a blue blazer over a white shirt and black tie and most importantly is the fact that he has a blue police officer cap on his head but it is mightily different from the sort that the Gotham City police officers wear and once he catches his breath he walks forward calmly and decides to ask me why he was called and why he had to rush here so quickly which proves that this old guy must be senile or need a new prescription for his glasses or something since he has not noticed the body at the piano even though it is basically the only object in this room, after having the situation explained to him and making a few short queries he tells everyone to go home and rest since it is already very late and that the interviewing of the witnesses can begin tomorrow which makes me think that the police in this town don't get a lot of action since this man has clearly made a bad decision but everyone has already listened and started to leave and so there is nothing I can do and so I too leave for the night heading towards my new bed in my hotel and on the way back I start to ponder about the case and the surroundings of it.
Damn this case is full of unknowns, like why did the culprit bother to move the body and sit it at the piano? Does this sheet of music that was found with the dead body of Kevin Hale mean anything at all and why was everyone so shocked? And what about the letter warning about this incident in the newspaper that was directed at Batman? Wait a minute I think I remember that the message said 'Begin to Vanish' so could it be that this message was a warning about this case and the phrase 'The Shadows Will Vanish" means that they will be enveloped in light and the light it is talking about is the moon's light which is actually referring to Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata' which means for definite that this murder and the death of the mayor two years ago along with the death of Aaron Kane around ten years ago are connected and in both of the last two incidents 'Moonlight Sonata' was playing right up until Aaron Kane and previous Mayor Kingston died, in other words if the shadows will vanish again then that means that Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata' will be played again and someone will once more die again with it being Kevin Hale in this case and it says that the 'shadows will begin to vanish' which is plural and means there is more to this case and it is not over yet which means more deaths and since the killer seems to be fixated with the victims being placed at the grand piano in the community centre then I very well can't leave it alone and allow whoever it is to do whatever they want with it.
I immediately turn around and start walking back to the community centre since I am not going to let that grand piano out of my sight, on the way back I begin to question just who sent that message, was it the killer themselves or someone else...
