For nearly two weeks, Kyler stayed in his home sleeping. He woke up every couple of days to eat and drink and use the restroom. He felt terrible like he caught the plague. His forehead was hot he sweated constantly, and he felt nauseous. He was a person who grew up feeling bad every day. By comparison, a normal person would probably die from misery alone.
When he woke up this morning he was covered in a cool sweat as his fever broke. He was also absolutely filthy. Preparing some hot water he started washing his body. It felt so good to clean the filth from his body and he felt fantastic this morning. Up to this point, his whole life was nothing but misery as he was born sickly. This was the first time he did not ache or feel bad. He even felt strong.
It was like he was reborn. Even his thinking felt clearer. It was like he had been living his life in a fog and for the first time in his life, he was out of the fog. Kyler saw his bow and walked over and stretched the bowstring. It was so easy! It was always tough to pull the string in the past. After three or four pulls of the bowstring, he would be exhausted.
His mace also felt extremely light when he picked it up. It was like it didn't weigh anything. Kyler had a private training room in his home. His father would have been the next family head if he had lived. His parents had a lot of money and when they died, it all went to Kyler As did the mansion they built. In the training room, there were many types of training equipment. Kyler went to a large boulder. He easily lifted it.
Testing his body was a scary process for him given how weak he was from birth. The new limits of his body were beyond his wildest dreams. Lifting the heaviest boulder in the training room barely required effort. The boulder was 54 cubic feet and weighed about 4.7 tons. This amount of weight could only be lifted by the top elites in the clan! Did he really need to fear Uncle Clyde anymore? He would be able to instantly become an elite of the family if he wanted it.
Realizing how much his strength skyrocketed, Kyler almost lost his head. He wanted to rush out and immediately show off. Luckily, years of being surround by enemies taught him to be prudent. The Smith family wouldn't rejoice at his newfound strength. They would either try to kill him or learn the secret of his new strength and take it from him. He doubted even his cousin Anvo would be excited he was so powerful. He would probably become jealous. Old man Kavage? Who knew how he would feel. Although he was his greatest support in the family; Kavage mostly kept to himself. Kyler didn't know if he could rely on him. Maybe he would also want the secret to his strength.
These thoughts made Kyler pause for a while. He needed to proceed with caution. Kyler was able to maintain the wealth of his parents largely because the family didn't need the money. Kyler wasn't going anywhere, and when Kyler finally died, the family would get the money anyway. If he ever wanted to leave he would have to abandon everything his parents left for him.
Why should he have to throw away the things his parents left for him he wondered in rage? Now that he had the power he began to vent his hidden feelings. No one in the family truly cared for him. If that is the case, Kyler thought, maybe he should find a way to leave the family.
He wanted to take all of his parents' things with him covertly, but the only way to do that was to use a storage treasure, which he didn't have. If he could forge one, he could solve the problem of how to carry his wealth out secretly.
As a family famous for its forging abilities, creating a storage treasure was easy. There was no need to understand concepts like relative spatial dimensions because there was a metal that one could use to make storage treasures that naturally created pocket dimensions. All you needed was the metal. Creating a storage treasure was one of the first things apprentices in the family learned to craft.
The problem was he didn't know how to forge. He never tried to learn because his body didn't have a strong fire attribute which could allow him to forge, and he was too weak. Kyler's eyes lit up as he recalled he received a total of three new attributes from the collector system, one was strength, another was basilisk fingernail fangs, and the last was salamander fire.
His parents' home was a treasure trove of things. Not only did it have a training room, but it also possessed a forge and a library. Kyler ran to the library to find books on how to use the fire attribute. He quickly found a selection of books and sat down to read them. He scanned through the first one to get an overview of what it would talk about. He received a notification from the system. "User has collected a training manual on fire attribute manipulation and use. Book has been added to the knowledge base. Collect more books on this subject and the system will synthesize an optimal training program," it said.
Kyler wasn't sure what the system was talking about but it sounded good. He took another book and flipped through it. "Congratulations on acquiring a second book on fire attribution manipulation and use. The system will synthesize a new book optimized for the user," it said. Kyler grew more excited and flipped through the other books. Just as with the first and second books, each book was recorded by the system. He had a total of twelve books on the subject. After he finished scanning all of them, he waited to see what the system would do.
No more than twenty minutes later he received a message from the system. "Congratulations user, the system has collected twelve manuals on fire attribute manipulation and use. Based on available information, the system has synthesized an optimized manual based on the user's biology. Kyler could see the new book in his mind and he turned its pages one at a time as if it were a real book. In the real world, it looked like he was holding and reading a book.
Studying the new manual for about an hour, he put it down; limitless ambition was birthed in his heart. "There are new and boundless opportunities for me!"
