Kan'na and Jarvis were currently riding a strange monster. It looked like a large deer, with a singular curled horn on top it's head. This tame wasn't extremely unique like the many others Jarvis had. The curled horn acts like a staff which the deer shoots lightning from, but this monster was decently common.
The two of them were riding through the undead horde, making their way towards Orothus. As they rode Kan'na prepared herself by writing various magic circles which she would activate at the correct times. She had a serious battle she could not fail, she wanted the rewards after all.
Jarvis was focusing on steering the large deer and planned for the upcoming battle like Kan'na. Compared to the extreme amount of skill Wrock and Akiol had, Jarvis needed to plan beforehand.
It would be best if he and his tames were to hold off the large horde of undead while Kan'na took down Orothus. He was confident she would win if nothing else was distracting her.
It was slightly dissatisfying to only be covering for her, but he shook this notion away. He could fight if he asked, but it would be better if Kan'na took the lead. Magic was her specialty of course.
As they approached their destination a large undead horde was spotted. This was natural, it would be strange if the leader of undead wasn't protected.
Taking a deep breath Jarvis braced himself, this was going to be a challenge.

Dang~!
Blocking another attack Akiol was sent sliding backwards. He frowned, even though [Aura Boost] had already run out he was sure the difference in strength wasn't this big.
Vertigo didn't allow Akiol to think and repeatedly swung his sword. There was an experienced touch to these seemingly random swings. It was almost as if they were intentionally cutting something.
Several glowing red marks appeared in front of Akiol. Lines that followed the path of Vertigo's katana. Akiol's eyes widened, he wasn't sure how to block this.
The moment of hesitation was enough for Vertigo, finishing his pattern. As if plastered on to him like a sticker numerous cuts appeared on Akiol's body. These cuts weren't deep so his core was untouched and his body began to mend itself back together.
Vertigo took the split moment Akiol's body was repairing and thrust his sword towards Akiol's heart. The katana would have split the core, however Akiol used [Core Movement] frantically moving his core. The katana still met it's mark. A fifth of Akiol's core was struck and broken off.
The undead horde surrounding the two went wild. Slamming their shields and grunting. Cheering for their general.
Such damage was more than Akiol bargained for, besides blunt damage he had never dealt with any damage towards his core. With only 150HP remaining Akiol grit his teeth and grabbed Vertigo's katana.
This was an extremely risky move, normally Akiol wouldn't have attempted such a feat. However Vertigo was increasing the gap in strength. With nothing to boost his own power, Akiol was going to lose.
This was unacceptable, he had bargained Orothus' finger. Something he wasn't even sure he could give if he lost. If Akiol lost now then the quest would fail and Goldlight would be no more.
It was just a game, Akiol thought such words before. However it wouldn't feel right if he failed something he was entrusted with. Regardless if it was a fake world or not.
He didn't have any other skills and [Aura Boost] was still on cooldown. The only choice Akiol had left was to utilize his slime body to the maximum. Something he had experimented before but never put to the test.
Akiol used [Body Manipulation] and morphed himself away from the sword. He wasn't going to test to see if Vertigo had any more skills to do further damage.
Akiol took a deep breath, he was going to concentrate a little harder than normal.

Tilia whistled at the sight of the undead squad. In the distance she saw a decently large number of undead riding various undead mounts. They were riding in a neat formation, frequently a small amount of undead would break off from the group and head elsewhere.
Yielya was observing her stat page before Tilia interrupted, "So what's the plan?"
She looked up before replying, "Let me take a look."
Yielya was decent at plans, the priest being the brains of the group was a decently popular idea. They could focus on planning and healing instead of battle.
Her tactical mind was better than Akiol's. Although Akiol usually gave commands and suggestions but he never discarded any other ideas and plans, especially not Yielya's.
Yielya watched the doings of the undead horde. After a while she nodded, "Alright I have an idea. A group of five to six break off from the group every seven to ten minutes. One group returns to the horde after two left. If we wait a bit longer the group would be significantly weakened."
"And if we cannot beat them?" Tilia prompted.
Yielya replied unhesitatingly, "Then we hold them off until back up arrives."
"Ha ha. . ."

Erina unknowingly found her self focusing on the team. Tons of players had joined the event and were doing their best to push back the horde. However this one small team was heading into the heart of the horde and attempting to take down the generals and the Lich himself?
It was nearly impossible. If for not the extreme coincidence that Orothus is weakened then Goldlight would have long since been wiped off the map. Then again perhaps Goldlight wouldn't have been targeted if Orothus wasn't weakened in the first place.
An undead invasion event was meant for the high levels players, a minimum of level 250! Currently in Orothus' weakened stage he was level 300! This meant his Generals were also significantly weakened.
If Orothus was at full power he had the strength to wipe out a kingdom. For his level at full power was 700. His generals being at level 600. Some of the few future calamity grade bosses. Their appearances would have triggered events with extremely generous rewards.
To think that such a boss would have degraded to such a point. However there was still one important piece of information! The highest level player currently was level 150. That meant Orothus was near double the theoretical strongest player's level!
This small team's levels barely reached the level 120 mark. Yet they wanted to take down a level 300 boss. It was crazy!
The generals were all level 250 no less! It was improbable, yet Erina had faith. She didn't know where this faith came from. Perhaps she was infected by Desk Guy. This team felt like a beacon of hope.
She shook such silly thoughts out of her head, she didn't know these people! However she had to admit watching their adventures was incredibly interesting. It was a shame Desk Guy beat them all to them. Perhaps she would find her own team.
Erina was about to grab a drink before continuing watching but something kept her in her seat. One of the generals just used a high level skill.
It was Vertigo, utilizing a skill named [Delayed Strike: Seventeen Slashes]. Vertigo's specialty was his delayed ability. It was a pride of a specific developer. Vertigo's 'delay' ability amounted to two different parts.
First, specific skills would strike sometime after Vertigo had attacked. This is why all of Vertigo's skills had 'Delayed Strike' at the beginning of it.
Secondly Vertigo's stats would be 'reduced' at the beginning of battle. Slowly regaining until their original amount. Essentially 'delaying' the strength of Vertigo. Once it reached its original amount the player had a minute before Vertigo went berserk increasing his strength even further.
Normally the 'delayed' attacks would have inflicted the 'dizzy' debuff, hence the origin of the name, however due to the silver haired player being a slime the effect was nulled.
This meant the slime had an unique advantage in this specific battle, yet would it be enough? Erina didn't know, yet she wanted to.
The drink would wait, she felt like this was a bit more important.

Jarvis' deer, named Staff after its horn, charged up electricity at its horn and fired into the horde, the lightning jumped between the undead frying them a good amount.
Besides it being the only tame that Jarvis could 'mount' currently, it had the skill of [Chain Lightning] a popular skill among the basic sorcerer class.
This was the only tame that had an 'AOE' attack that Jarvis had. He did still have a few more tames up his sleeve though.
He summoned his most recent addition to his list. A large tortoise, its shell strangely transparent. In fact almost the whole body was transparent, minus the parts out of the shell. Finally in the middle of the clear shell was a small planet looking object. This was the purpose of the turtle. This tortoise was a sacred creature, extremely rare to even catch a glimpse of.
This tortoise was the 'World Carrying Tortoise'. It's job was to protect the small world inside of its body. The world was proven to provide an extremely large amount of benefits to whoever could get their hands on it. Sorcerers want use it for a near infinite source of mana, strong creatures wish to consume to small world gaining a large increase to their strength.
If one were to sell the world of a 'World Carrying Tortoise' they would live their rest of their lives in comfort only kings could relate to.
Of course Jarvis didn't care for the world, he instead was mystified by the tortoise. He wanted to know why it was so clear, why it spent its life caring for the small world. It was the tortoise he was drawn to.
It had taken a longer shorter to tame to creature compared to others. Mainly because the tortoise never feared Jarvis and was extremely smart. Finding out the intention of a human was extremely easy for this tortoise.
The tortoise had accepted being a tame under a single condition. They wished not to be named, Jarvis hadn't a clue why but he accepted. He wasn't the best at names anyway.
When the tortoise witnessed the large undead horde it knew what to do. A deep hum came from the tortoise's throat and a wave of magic extended from it. This magic wave solidified at a certain distance and became a safezone. Any undead that walked into the sphere of magic was severally weakened and was forced to walk out.
Jarvis intended to use this safe circle to push through the undead horde and reach Orothus.
