"Every new friend is a new adventure... the start of more memories." Teddy's POV
I woke up to the soft golden light filtering through the dormitory curtains. Today was my first official day at Hogwarts, and excitement buzzed through me like an electric current. I pushed the curtains aside, letting the sunlight flood the room.
A groggy voice groaned from behind me.
"Oh, Merlin's beard—so much light in my dark world," Brian complained, pulling the blanket over his head.
"And so much drama from you, Brian," Oliver retorted with a smirk, sitting up and stretching. "Morning, Teddy."
"Morning, Oliver," I replied with a grin.
Brian finally threw off his blanket and got up, squinting at Oliver. "Good morning, Oliver-Who-Should-Have-Been-Sorted-Into-Ravenclaw!"
I chuckled, remembering their heated "brain war" last night. Brian had challenged Oliver to a battle of wits—and lost spectacularly.
"Morning, Foody William! Time to wake up!" Brian yelled, launching a pillow at William, who groaned and swatted it away.
"I'm awake," William mumbled, rubbing his eyes.
Brian turned to me dramatically. "And good morning to our very own Edward-the-Morning-King!" He grabbed my hand in an exaggerated handshake.
"Just ignore him," Oliver said, yawning. "I can already tell this year is going to be interesting."
"I'm excited!" I added, my energy bouncing off the walls.
"Hogwarts food is amazing," William said dreamily.
"And we are going to prank it," Brian declared, jumping on everyone's beds.
Yes, this year was going to be good.
Breakfast and a Howler
After getting dressed, the four of us made our way to the Gryffindor common room, where we spotted Vanessa and Victorie.
Vanessa was wide awake, her eyes bright with excitement. Meanwhile, Victorie looked half-asleep, leaning against Vanessa's shoulder.
"Morning, Vic. Morning, Nessa," I greeted.
Vanessa beamed. "Good morning, Teddy!" she nearly yelled, making Victorie jolt upright.
"Ugh, why are mornings so loud?" Victorie grumbled, rubbing her eyes.
"Good morning, ladies," Brian said smoothly, flashing what he called his charming smile. "I don't believe we've met properly. I'm Brian Rodriguez."
Vanessa smiled. "I'm Vanessa Valencia, and this is my friend Victorie Weasley."
"Pleasure to meet you both. Let me introduce my crew," Brian said with a dramatic gesture. "That's Oliver Collins—the one with the big brain. The slightly shorter one there is William Everett. And this here is our Morning Sunshine, Edward Lupin, aka Teddy."
Vanessa and Victorie laughed.
"Alright, enough chit-chat. I'm starving," William announced.
"Let's go, then," Vanessa said, leading the way.
The Great Hall was already bustling with students, golden plates filled with food glimmering in the morning light. As we ate, a flurry of wings signaled the arrival of the owl post. I looked up just in time to see a familiar owl—Flipwood—soaring toward me. It dropped a letter onto my plate.
I recognized the handwriting immediately.
Hello Teddy,
How are you? Everyone's fine here, but we all miss you already. I still can't believe how much you've grown. Now you're at Hogwarts—it feels like just yesterday you were running around the house, asking endless questions about magic.
I'm incredibly proud of you for being sorted into Gryffindor. Your father would be, too.
Oh, and Lily is furious with you for leaving her behind—her words, not mine. James won't admit it, but he misses you, and Albus keeps complaining that he doesn't have anyone to read with. Ginny misses you, too.
Have an amazing year. I can't wait to hear all about it.
Love, Harry
A warm feeling settled in my chest. I missed them, too. Before I could even fold the letter, another owl dropped something in front of me—a red envelope.
A howler.
The envelope ripped open by itself, and a voice boomed through the Great Hall.
"TEDDDYYYYY HOW ARE YOUUUUU! I MISS YOU SO MUCH! I MISS READING WITH YOUUUUUU—"
"Lily, keep your voice down!" a voice in the background yelled.
"AHEM—HEY TEDDY! WE'RE SO HAPPY YOU GOT SORTED INTO GRYFFINDOR—YEAH!!"
"OUCH! ALBUS, YOU STEPPED ON MY FOOT, YOU IDIOT!"
"HEY, TEDDY, CAN I TAKE A BOOK FROM YOUR SHELF? I'LL PROM—WAIT, WHAT'S GOING ON UP THERE?"
Pause.
"OH NO—MOM'S HERE! IT WAS JAMES' IDEA, MOM! I SWEAR!"
"JAMES SIRIUS POTTER!"
"OKAY, BYE TEDDY!"
With a loud pop, the howler dissolved into tiny ashes.
Silence.
Every single person in the Great Hall was staring at me.
I wanted to disappear.
I groaned, burying my face in my hands. "James," I muttered under my breath.
My friends, meanwhile, were holding back laughter.
Brian grinned. "Well, mate, if you really wanted to keep a low profile, maybe you should've reconsidered having The Boy Who Lived as your godfather."
Before I could respond, Oliver smacked Brian upside the head.
"Teddy is known for himself, not just because he's Harry Potter's godson," Oliver said firmly.
I looked at Oliver, grateful for the words. "Thanks."
He nodded. "That's what friends are for."
Vanessa smiled. "Well, now that the entire school knows your life story, shall we head to class?"
Victorie sighed dramatically. "First-ever lesson: Defense Against the Dark Arts—let's hope we don't die on the first day."
We all laughed as we walked toward our first class, my embarrassment fading away.
Maybe this year really would be the start of something amazing.
This version keeps the essence of your original story but enhances the descriptions, dialogue, and character interactions to make it more engaging. Let me know if you'd like any further changes! 😊
