The Henpecked Husband’s Sinister Plan!

While Amelia chatted with Alex, the henpecked husband was fuming as he arranged the plates on their dining table. He didn't dare to disobey the order of his wife. He'd likely end up sleeping on the floor if he did. Although James felt wronged, he had no choice but to compromise.

He grumpily went to the kitchen to fetch the dishes that his wife had cooked for lunch. As he reached for the first dish, his gaze landed on the bottle of extra spicy chili sauce that his mother sent him a week ago. A nefarious smile appeared on the wife-fearing husband's face as he thought of a scheme that would make Alex suffer.

'Let's see how you handle this you little brat.' James chuckled as he added the chili sauce into Alex's drink. He tasted this sauce before and a single drop was enough to make his tongue and face burn due to its spiciness. 'Hmp! This is what you get for trying to get your filthy hands on my baby daughter!'

James really thought that Alex was making a move on his youngest daughter Lily. If he knew that Alex only had eyes for Abbie, he might have looked at the boy with pity and said, 'Such a young boy and he already has eye problems. The poor thing!'

Alas, he didn't know, so he made sure to pour half the bottle's contents into Alex's cup with the intention of gloating over the boy's misfortune. James started humming as he set everything in place. When everything was ready, he decided to call everyone to the dining table.

----

In the living room…

"Don't worry," Amelia patted Alex's head. "Although my daughter is a dum dum, she's a very responsible person. She will do her best to take care of you."

"Un!" Alex nodded his head happily. 'Master's mother is a good person!'

Abbie rolled her eyes at her mother's words. She was already used to her way of talking so she didn't take it to heart. That was when she saw her father walking in their direction with a smile plastered on his face.

"Let's go to the dining room," James said. "Everything is ready. Let's eat while the food is still warm."

James purposely didn't mention the word "hot" because he was afraid he might not be able to stop himself from laughing out loud. He was looking forward to Alex's reaction, so he personally guided the young boy to his seat. Amelia and Abbie felt that something was amiss, but they didn't pay it much attention.

"Is Alex a big eater?" Amelia asked Abbie who was seated on her right side along with Alex. James was seated on her left and Lily sat beside him.

"He is," Abbie nodded her head. "I have a feeling that he can eat more than me."

"Is that even possible?"

"Ma, I only look fat ok? I'm not a big eater!"

"How many servings of rice do you eat everyday?"

"Two when I'm depressed, three when I'm in a bad mood," Abbie answered with a frown. "Four when I'm feeling happy and Five when…"

"And you dare to admit that you're not a big eater?" Amelia snorted. "Didn't I tell you that you should go on a diet? How will you find a boyfriend if you kept on gaining weight?"

"Hmph! Those men had eyes but failed to see," James commented. "My daughter is the best. She's healthy, she's pretty, and she's petty!"

Abbie's forehead was instantly filled with dark lines. To think her own father would call her petty, Abbie felt irritated. It was like having a pig teammate in your team! "Pa, I inherited my pettiness from you."

"Nonsense! How could I possibly be petty?"

"Oi, are you telling me I'm petty?" Amelia asked. Her eyes narrowed as she gave her husband the "Do-you-want-to-sleep-in-the-doghouse-tonight?" look.

James didn't answer and began to pile heaps of food on his plate. He also made sure to help his baby daughter get the food that she liked.

Amelia could only shake her head at her husband's behavior. She then turned her gaze to the well behaved Alex and her impression of him grew a notch. "Alex, please eat as much as you can. I may not be the best cook in the world, but I guarantee that they are all delicious!"

"Mother, I can tell from a glance that the dishes you prepared are delicious," Alex replied with a sweet smile. "They are overflowing with love."

Amelia beamed at Alex's compliment. "Awww! You're such a sweet talker. I'm afraid that you will be breaking a lot of hearts when you grow up. Here. Try this. This is Abbie's favorite. I'm sure you will like it!"

Alex happily accepted the food Amelia recommended for him. "Thank you, Mother."

Amelia didn't mind Alex calling her mother. Although she playfully insinuated that she would give Alex a chance to woo her daughter (Lily) she was not serious about it. She understood that Alex was still young and there was no possible way for her to take the words of an eight-year-old-boy earnestly when it came to relationships.

Alex ate with a lively expression. His face seemed to brighten every time he tried a different dish. Anyone could see that he was enjoying the food that he was eating. Even James felt a bit guilty when he saw his happy expression. He was hesitant about whether he should push through with his plan or prevent the boy from drinking from his cup.

So far, Alex only ate and didn't touch the cup beside his plate. James was paying close attention to his actions. In the end, he chose to prevent Alex from drinking the spicy drink he prepared. How could he harm such a good child? He was just being petty earlier.

With that in mind, James reached out his hand to take Alex's cup, but the boy was two steps faster. He drank everything in one gulp and placed the cup gently on top of the table.

'Not good!' This was the thought that passed through Jame's head as he saw Alex empty the cup before his eyes.

The young boy placed a hand over his mouth and closed his eyes. It was as if he was trying to hold back something. James felt his liver itch for the second time that day. He was prepared to rush the boy to the clinic just in case something bad happened to him.

A loud burp resounded in the dining room. Alex looked apologetically at everyone and felt his cheeks burn. He knew that burping loudly was bad manners, but he wasn't able to help it. The drink he had just a while ago had a strong flavor to it. It carried the feeling of "taking pleasure in the misfortune of others" which made him burp.

Amelia chuckled when she saw Alex's embarrassed expression. "Don't worry, burping after having a drink is perfectly normal. That also happens to me from time to time."

"Indeed," Abbie nodded her head. "That happens to me on a regular basis."

James looked at Alex with a serious expression on his face. He was checking to see if the boy was just enduring the spiciness that was flooding his mouth at this moment or if he really was unaffected by it. A minute passed, and Alex resumed eating.

The young boy was eating with a happy expression again which made James question his sanity.

"Let me refill that cup for you," James volunteered and took the cup back to the kitchen. 'Did I really use hot chili sauce or did Amelia replace the contents with ketchup?'

There were still a few drops of fruit juice remaining in Alex's cup. James decided to chug it down and see whether he had made a mistake or not.

That day, a loud cry--resembling the sound of a pig being slaughtered--was heard inside the quiet residential area. It was also the day that James realized that the young boy who happily ate at their dinner table was a wolf in sheep's clothing.
