Chapter 11

~~Roses POV~~

"OH MY GOSH WAKE UP YOU HOTDOG!" Laura yells in my ear to which i groan and slap her. Well....I think I slapped her...

"Ouch! You poked my eye!" She cries.

I laugh in my sleepy state but it only sounded like a walrus mating. "Well next time don't wake me up with a heart attack. That's the alarm clocks job." I reply back scratching my wild messy hair.

"Oh just get up already, prom starts at six and we have a lot to get through. There's waxing to be done, there's your lions mane of hair to do, there's your makeup and let's not forget about those nails." Laura said with a shiver.

"Can you not insult me!? Besides. Who's going to notice the nails anyways? People aren't gonna come up to me and compliment the nails, it's all about the dress and face."

"Are you saying that prom is all about the dress and face!?" She exclaims with her hand on her hips.

"Well. . . You might as well just turn up in your pyjamas then." I shrug, getting up to walk to the bathroom.

"Oh fine, I see your point there." She agrees. "But it's about seducing the guys there as well!" She exclaims and I roll my eyes. "And also winning the crown."

Waiting in line at the entrance to get our photo taken, Kyle and Laura we're currently taking theirs. I scoff, they look like they're posing for a wedding shoot.

"Next!" The photographer yelled and Malcolm and I made our way over. "Okay pose." The photographer says in a French accent to which I adored and I got into position with Malcolm, the flash of the camera nearly blinding me, mind you.

I clear my throat and tap the microphone. "Welcome to the 2019 annual prom where a lucky senior girl and guy will be crowned king and queen to a year they won't forget."

"For most girls, being a princess was what their little hearts desired most. It was to be able to wear the sparkly crown and a beautiful ball gown that would leave everyone speechless. It was all about living in a massive castle with all the junk food she could have whilst talking to her royal subjects, the stuffed animals.

Whether the girl had a cute little dress bought for her, or a dress made out of her pink blanket, she was still a princess to her mother and that's all that mattered. She didn't want no prince, she had her father." I say as I look at the girls who seemed to be smiling as they could relate.

I continued as I gave my father a nod. "Most of the girls started off with a plastic crown with glued on gems that would eventually fall out and have us crying to our parents, but today, one special girl will have the honour of wearing the crown she dreamed of since she was a little girl." On cue, the principal flicked a switch in which light shone on the crowns that at first were hidden. Gasps and excited murmurs were heard in the crowd.

"Now, as you know, earning the crown isn't all about who has the prettiest and most expensive dress. It's about who has been achieving high academic results, who's been helping and volunteering around the school, anyone who the teachers and principal thinks deserve it, will win it. Now don't be disappointed if you don't win, you're all princesses at heart and I wish you all good luck!"

"Hey what about the boys?" Someone shouts from the crowd.

"Oh of course, you're all mummy and daddy's little princes as well, even if you try to act all tough!" I laugh and the crowd laughs too.

"Well, enjoy your night and try to charm the teachers into picking you!" I exclaim as everyone cheers and the Dj blasts the music.

I walk down the stage and was greeted by Malcolm who was grinning. "Oh you looked so fabulous up there." He said to which I roll my eyes.

"Come on." I said grabbing his wrist. "Let's go dance like a cute couple!" I laugh and bat my eyelashes.

"Oh you're going to be so jealous of my moves." Malcolm says and starts dancing like there are bees buzzing up his ass.

"OH MY GOSH MALCOLM STOP!" I laugh hysterically, trying to keep the tears in and not ruin my makeup.

"What? Don't you like my moves?" He says chuckling as well.

"Of course I do." I say sarcastically. "Oh teach me how dance like that!" I say dramatically.

After dancing to five songs, The Dj announces that dinner is served and we all go back to our seats. "After dinner, the prom king and queen will be announced!" The Dj continues.

Taking my seat, Malcolm sits beside me with a gloomy look on his face. "What's wrong?" I ask with a frown.

"Oh nothing, just Kyle and Laura eating each others faces away." He says irritated.

I look around till my eyes found Kyle and Laura. And sure enough, they were kissing like starved lions. I roll my eyes. "Malcolm, you need to find someone better than that stupid slug, and besides, I don't think you even have a chance seeing as he's straight." I point out, taking a sip of Coke.

"I know, but all the good looking ones are straight." He pouts and I snort unattractively.

"Oh please, all the hot sexy ones are gay!" I exclaim back.

"Yeah right! I don't know why you're not after him." Malcolm says, referring to Kyle.

I look at my food. "That's because I promised myself to not fall for guys like him."

"Hey guys!" Laura chirps as she takes a seat next to Kyle who decided to sit next to me.

Great.

"How's your night, chi chi?" Kyle asks me with a grin.

"Bad now that you're here." I smile back watching him narrow his eyes at me.

"Don't lie to me sweetheart. I can almost hear how fast your heart beats for me." He whispers in my ear as I felt myself heat up. I hated how true his words are. For some reason, my heart beats wildly in my chest when ever he's near.

I can't believed my heart is betraying me like this!

"Keep telling yourself that." I reply back, pretending that his words are not bothering me.

I turn to ask Laura how her night was, instead I find her flirting with some dude from our grade level. My mouth hangs open as I watch her.

Is she for real? Not long ago she was crying about how she finally found the guy she likes and now she's flirting with that dude?

Honestly that girl gives me headaches.

Gracefully eating my lunch like a proper civilised person unlike Malcolm, I froze when I felt a warm hand on my thigh. I look to my right at Kyle but he was eating away casually like putting his hand on a girls thigh whilst eating was a normal thing to do!

I clear my throat, getting Kyle's attention. "Uhm, do you mind?" I question with a raised eyebrow.

"Nope I don't. Do you?" He smirks.

"Yes I do! That's considered as sexual harassment seeing as you don't have my permission." I grit out but gasp when his hands trail up higher. I audibly gulp as I awkwardly shift in my spot.

"You okay, Rose?" Malcolm questions with concern, although his mouth was stuffed with food.

"Just fine." I forcefully smile. "I just uhh, need the bathroom!" And with that I stand up quickly and make my way over to the toilets.

I walk inside the girls room and stand in front of the mirror. Looking up I noticed how flushed my face looks and I nearly considered washing my face but I remembered I had makeup on.

"Alright everyone, settle down. In a few minutes, we'll be announcing the winners of prom king and queen." The principals voice says loudly through the speakers.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath in. As I was about to leave, Kyle enters and locks the door behind him.
