Chapter 23

|Rose's P.O.V|

"You know, that's very brave of you to help look for your parents." I say, taking a sip of my coke during lunch.

Two weeks of work experience done and I am so relieved because my feet are still aching and they got all those nasty blisters.

Now I can't show off my brand new blood red nail polish! What did my feet ever do to deserve this? They've always been there to stand up for me so why???

Stand up! Get it? No? Okay.

"I'm just hoping that when they find them, I might be able to convince them not to....hurt...Kyle." Malcolm replies quietly, his pizza long forgotten.

"Hey if you're not eating that deliciousness....You don't suppose...I could have it?" Lewis asks quite ridiculously if you ask me. We are in a serious convo right now if he couldn't see.

Oh yeah...He doesn't know....

Malcolm pushes his plate over to Lewis and I swear the smile on his face was like he just got told that he won the lottery. Shaking my head with a chuckle, I begin to talk about how my days were and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty.

"Well I had to clean up after the kids vomited since they couldn't aim for the vomiting bag right in front of them, I also had to take them to the toilet and stand there whilst they do their business but I know people would think its really gross and why the hell would I ever want to work there, but the truth is Mal, I actually enjoyed helping out all those sick kids. There was a massive smile on my face every time they smiled back at me. And that's all I wanted, their smiles."

"Awh, isn't Rosie Posie such a cutie!" Malcolm coos, grabbing my cheek and squeezing the life out of it. I let out a yelp and slap him.

"Stop it!" I hiss back at him, rubbing my delicate cheek. "This is a form of physical abuse and bullying. I will not tolerate such behaviour!"

Before Malcolm could finish his eye roll, Kyle plopped himself on the chair in front of mine in a vigorous manner and slumped down, eyeing my coke.

I look down to my coke and slowly drag it closer to me. "My precious." I hiss, stroking the can of coke whilst glaring at Kyle, threatening him with my not so intimidating gaze. He throws me a small packet of skittles and grabs the coke whilst I caught the skittles.

"Nice doing business with you, Chi chi." He smirks, drinking the remaining half of my coke all in one go.

"Whats a Chi chi?" Mal questions, looking up from his phone, a cute confused expression plastered on his face.

"ITS A DOG! HE CALLS ME AFTER A DOG! You stupid pantie!" I narrow my eyes at Kyle, attempting to kick him under the table, however he seems unaffected as he rolls his eyes.

"See Mal, she's so small like a chihuahua and when she gets angry, its hardly even intimidating." Kyle chuckles, sending me a wink whilst Mal bursts into laughter.

I stand up, knocking my chair backwards. "YOU!" I point my finger at Kyle, planning to drown him with a sea of curse words.

"Rose sit down, I have an announcement to make." The principal says from behind, clearly not even amused.

I shamefully pull my chair back up and take a seat with my hair shielding my tomato ripened face. The principal stands at the front of the cafeteria, where a medium sized, simple stage is. You could say we have a fairly large cafeteria.

"The day you have all been waiting for, is finally arriving!" He says but we were all confused about what he was talking about. He rolls his eyes and clears his throat. "Dress up for character day? Are you all that exhausted on a beautiful rainy Monday like today?"

We all reply with a demented chorused yes.

"Character day is in a weeks time so make sure you have an outfit by then. As usual, you have the weekends to go shopping if you didn't know, like Bob over there who lives in the corner of his dorm all day and night and thought that you all were never allowed to go out on weekends. This boarding isn't that cruel."

"Has Bob really never been out on a weekend?" Laura questions horrified, who decided to greet us with her presence not too long ago.

"Who's Bob?" I question looking around.

I was currently sitting in the library, reading this amazing book  and I must say, every page has had me on the edge of my cushiony seat. Halfway through the book, I yelp out of shock when someone's warm hands were placed over my eyes. My heart flutters as I recognise the strong cologne.

"Kyle, what are you doing? In case you haven't noticed, I need my eyeballs to read."

"I want you to be my Aphrodite for Character day." He explains, taking a seat beside me.

Is he demented? What part of 'don't breathe the same oxygen as me' does he not understand?

I stare at his gorgeous face blankly, and he stares back. I ignore and turn my head back towards my book only to have it snatched away from me.

"HEY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT PAGE I'M ON!" I yell out in horror, almost shedding tears at the realisation.

"I asked you a question, flower."

"Flower? What happened to Chi chi?" I snort, crossing my arms.

He rolls his eyes. "I said, I want you to be my Aphrodite for character day. Aphrodite had many lovers but with Ares, she had a long love affair with him. They seem perfect together don't they?"

"You're such a dork! Get away from me!"

He smirks and brings his face extremely close to mine. "I can see your desire for me burning in your eyes, love. You just don't want to accept it."

I was lost for words. I tried to move back but he held my chin with his warm hand, bringing my face even closer.

"Did you forget my threat from last time, you bloody pantie!?"

"Yup." He whispers, staring down at my lips.

I unconsciously bite my lip
