Multi-Universal Menace

The next morning Yu was harshly woken up by the door being slammed open, or at least it seemed like he was but he'd been awake the entire time

"Rise and shine kid, its time we heal that leg of yours"

Came in the old man with his nasty alcohol so early in the morning

Yu grunted in response and weaselled his way out of bed, standing up with the help of the branches

"Come on, where is your youthful energy, its as if your the old fellow in here hic!"

"Drinking so early?"

"I wouldn't be if I hadn't been deprived of it to chase your apocalyptic ass"

He chugged some more as he turned around leading him around town to the much-needed doctor, and though Yu wanted to ask about yesterday he withheld his curiosity for an opportune time

It wasn't long before the two came before a fancy building with very few people coming in and out of, all who did had a sour look on their face

There wasn't a line as not many were willing to come here anyway so they got their turn after only a minute's wait

As soon as Yu entered the room where the lady holding a cat was in he had goosebumps all over his skin, it felt like his body was meeting the sun after months of staying indoors

"Welcome...guests"

The herbalist greeted stiffly, for some reason she had a very strange expression on her face, one that showed a mix between discomfort and slight fear

Before he could wonder what the hell was wrong with her the old man kindly explained

"Would you take back that darned weapon of yours?! You're giving everyone the creeps"

"Oh.."

He never thought humans were also easily able to sense the danger coming from the black crossbow and stored the dangerous-looking yet actually harmless, most of the time, weapon

"Thank you, kind sir, please take a seat"

With the suffocating feeling dispersing the herbalist finally spoke again, presenting him a seat while she prepared her equipment

First, she took out some preprepared mix of yellow and white herbs and poured some green liquid over them, then she balled them up and fed them to her cat

"??"

Watching the cat quickly chew on the ball of herbs then swallow he looked in confusion at the herbalist, questioning whether this was the time to feed her cat or check up on him

"Khhu khuuu"

The cat suddenly started retching and gaging, clearly trying to cough something out

"Is the cat okay?"

"Oh? Is it your first time visiting a herbalist around these parts?"

"Umm, yes, why?"

"Haha, just asking"

After an awkward minute the cat finally spat out the herb-ball, or whatever the equivalent of hairballs is when it came to herbs, which the lady picked up and approached him with

"I'll be smearing this on your legs"

"Excuse me?"

"Don't argue with her kid, she knows what she's doing"

"...."

Looking between the old man and the herb-ball he couldn't help but laminate his lack of choices, relenting to his fate after a heavy sigh

When the icky ball was smeared over his legs however he realized what they were for

"Ohh?"

Seeing the structure of his bones through the skin caused more than an eyebrow to raise eventually promoting him to ask about the cat

"What kind of cat is that?"

"Its a special breed, nothing too special though, it's just that the liquid produced by its stomach when mixed with certain herbs can cause this, we keep them instead of killing them off to take the liquid since its a lot easier and more friendly to the beasts this way"

"I see"

Honestly, he wasn't as surprised seeing a cat vomiting x-ray herb-balls as he was knowing that some people cared for beasts, so far he'd seen no such sympathy for them at all

"All your bones are in place, I will test how functional your legs are now"

The mini hammer in her hand didn't freak Yu out, it was probably that knee jerk test doctors did a lot of the time

Sure enough, she kneeled before him and hovered the mini hammer above his kneecaps, bringing them down with 'some' force

Pak! "Ow!"

Holding his legs in pain he gave her a deathly stare, one that sent sweat pouring down the poor woman's back

"I-I didn't mean to hurt you mister"

"Hey kid, chill"

The old man's forceful tone made him take a deep breath to calm himself, then another one for good measures

Only after he was finally calm did he ask her why she hit him that hard

"I merely assumed you were strong, because of earlier, so I didn't hold back"

It made him twitch an eyebrow, it seems looking tough had its downsides

"So, what's the result missy?"

"Well, judging by the lack of any response I would say its a nerve damage problem, I can tell just by looking at his legs he'd been severely injured before so this could be the remanents of that injury, I would suggest an intensive care for about a year so he could begin walking again, until then I would ban hunting all together"

"Hmm, when did you get this injury kid?"

"Around a week ago"

"A week!?!?"

Yelled the herbalist in shock

"How could you have healed so fast in a weak?! Wait, you healed so fast in a weak? I see so that's why"

Watching her face go from extreme shock to realization before morphing into understanding the two men got curious as to what she figured out

"So? What's got you interested"

"I believe he applied some herbs or medicine to hasten the injury's recovery thereby exhausting the nerves to no end, if that is so then he only needs some rest, about a month or so, until he could get back at the wilds once more"

"That's what I wanted to hear, lets get back on the road then kid"

Yu nodded and followed the old man out but not before the herbalist stopped them before they exited the door

"The fee please"

She looked at him when saying so and he turned to look at the old man only to see him nowhere in sight

"....How much"

"Two gold"

A price akin to robbery, and that was when the only advice he got was to rest, something he was planning on doing anyway

'Doctors, a menace to wallets in every world'

Gritting his teeth he forked out the coins and made his way out in a sour mood, now he understood why everyone who came here looked so unhappy
