Chapter 3

Layton Viker POV

Standing at the door of my father's office, I didn't want to enter, but I'm sure if I refused to Listen to him and not go, there would be a problem.

So I slightly knocked on the wooden door that had my father's name engraved on it and waited for his answer.

"Come in" His voice called from behind the door and I immediately entered his office, That held his many trophies, not trophies as in gold or silver, my father kept the hearts of alphas that wronged him.

It was a disgusting sight to see.

"You called for me?" I asked him.

He was writing and looking at a map, probably planning to have another ambush.

"Sit down boy" He ordered me not even bothering to look up from the table "You need to hurry up and fin your mate son, I can't continue to play alpha for this pack"

"I want to some packs and still couldn't find her scent" I sighed softly, his head raised up from the map, he gave me one of those looks that meant that he was serious.

My face remained stoic and emotionless as I'm used to my father's stares.

"Did you go to all packs?" He asked me

"No, I'm going to Alpha Ramon's pack today, to form an alliance with them and to find her" I stated, he leaned back on his chair, satisfied with my answer.

I didn't want to go to that pack, Alpha Ramon was a ludicrous and never treated his pack members right, but him and my father was child hood friends. So my father could never see the wrong in what he was doing.

"I'm sure that you'll find her in that pack, if not you know what I will do" He warned him.

"Get me someone who's not my mate" I finished.

He just stared at me after that "You may leave".

I got up from his hard seat and mad my way to the door, but before I opened it, I asked him.

"Are you going to ambush another pack again?".

"Mind your business boy" Was all he said, but I already knew the answer

We arrived at Alpha Roman's pack at night, as that was the time that he gave us.

He wasn't even outside to greet us, I came here with my beta and three of my warriors, the only person who greeted us was an omega and all she said was the alpha was busy and that he'd talk to us in the morning.

She showed us our room and left.

I was placed on the fourth floor along with my beta, I shooked my head at Alpha Ramon's lateness and left it at that.

At this point it was past midnight and I couldn't find myself to sleep, I kept getting a feeling that something was going to happen and it seems I was right.

As I was laying on my bed I got a sweet smell coming from outside my room and immediately thought of my mate, I jumped out of the bed and opened the door.

She did walk here, her smell was lingering, a bit of chocolate and rain, that's what the scent reminded me of.

I tried to follow where the scent was coming from and I was met with an open window in the living room, I felt a cold breeze hitting my face, a breeze that reminded me of.

Death.

"Alpha Layton" I heard the Omega from earlier whisper, she was clutching her chest tight as if she was in pain.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

She shook her head "I think the alpha is dead".

Without a second thought I ran to the Alpha's floor, The first scent I got was blood, heavy amount of blood, I swung the Alpha's door open.

"Alpha Ramo-" The sight infront of me was terrifying to sore eyes, but that's not what caught me off guard, It was the scent from earlier, stronger than ever.

There she was, I already knew who she was but I couldn't let that distract me from the sigh before me.

"Who are you, why did you this?!" I shouted at the woman straddling a now dead Alpha Ramon.

Slowly the woman's head turned to face me and I immediately my eyes was met with her bright red eyes, something I've never seen before, she was beautiful, I couldn't get my eyes off of her.

I followed her movements as she jumped off of the body and looked at her now blood soaked jumpsuit.

"Now look at the mess I made" She sighed, her voice immediately captivating me, she looked back up at me and began looking the blood from the corner of her lips, my eyes following as her lips turn into a smirk.

"I'll see you again mate" Was all she said before jumping out of the window.

Mazarine POV

"I'm not letting you get away!" I heard him shout as I was running away from the pack house, I'm pretty sure he already informed the pack's guards about me, so they'll be looking for me.

Ashton and Clay was already waiting at out meeting point. Maria's two friends in their hands.

"You knocked them out?!" I shouted at them.

"We had to, they weren't corresponding" Clay shrugged "What happened to you?".

"No time, we need to go before they catch us, shift and run now" I ordered.

Immediately turning to my wolf that was bigger than Ashton and Clay's wolf.

They followed right after placing the kids on their back.

I can hear my mate and others running this way, we immediately started running and took another path that we knew well, but would seem to confusing to my mate and that pack.

In the corner of my eye I see my mate catching up to mate, I barked at the boys to run faster as I headed the other direction, I know they can easily get rid of the others, but my mate was after me.

I stopped at an open field, where we both stood a good distance from each other, His wold and I stood at similar height but he was slight taller, we had the same fur color, his green eyes staring at me reminding me of a certain wolf.

I shifted, fully aware that I'd be naked but I didn't care, neither did he as he did the same thing.

"Tell me, why did you kill those people, do you know what you just did?!" He shouted at me.

Not a single emotion was shown on my face and I know that was making him angry "You have no right to be questioning me or my actions" I hissed "I left a pack vulnerable, without an alpha, they can't manage".

"If you knew that why did you still went ahead and kill him?" H e was honestly starting to tick my nerves.

"What did I just say?!" I growled at him, taking a step closer to him.

"You will answer me mate!" He ordered me.

I couldn't help but laugh, just to see him get angrier, his eyes shun a dark green again reminding me of a certain wolf.

i stopped laughing when we were now standing face to face. Looking up at him, anyone would get scared of an alphas stare, but I'm different an I'm sure that he knew that. I wrapped my arms around his neck and his arms immediately wrapped around my waist.

He stuck his nose into my neck as I did the same thing, both of calming our nerves, his scent almost turning my mind into mush, he made a small growl as I tried to move my arms, which made me chuckle.

"Alpha, you have no idea who you're dealing with" I whispered into his ear.

"Well do you mind telling me?" He asked moving his head so we were now looking into each others eyes.

"I'm the devil's wife" He growled once more causing me to laugh and a smirk and a smirk appearing on his face.

"Then I guess I'm your husband" He said lowly, causing unwanted shivers to run down my back.

When I heard people running towards us, I was out of his embrace and was on the other side of the open field.

"Wait, what's your name?" He asked me, I hesitated before saying.

"Vixen" A knowing look crossed his face as if he knew the name, shock showing clearly on his face.

The last thing I heard before running was his name.

"Layton!".
