New Little Sister

At Sky Lots Apartment Complex.

Anna tossed and turned in her bed for the thousand time in search of sleep. Seeing as she wasn't any closer to getting some, she opted to simply do something more productive with her time. With a frustrated grunt, she got up from her bed and headed towards her kitchen.

The Sky Lots Apartment Complex was just like any other overpriced and overly hyped private living building. The floor to ceiling windows, the modern furniture or even the amazing city view interested Anna very little. The only reason she lived in the unbearably fancy apartment was because of Claire's orders.

Since the complex housed a number of A list actors, a few low ranking politicians and a couple of high society mistresses, it was a fairly safe place to live in. Having lived through thick and thin together, her boss and close friend would never allow her to pick anything less secure no matter how much she tried to choose something more simple and down to earth. Claire was absolute when it came to safeguarding those she loved.

After making herself a cup of hot tea, Anna made her way to her spare bedroom which she had converted into an makeshift home office. Despite her always composed and poised image, she was very unorganized when it came to her working style. Inside the room were unimportant documents on the floor, pens laying on the bed, folders scattered on the desk and crumpled up paper balls around the trash bin near the door from what seemed to have been failed attempts of throwing them away from the other side of the room.

She placed her tea on the desk and turned on her laptop. Wrapping the thick cardigan she wore around her to hug her body, she took a seat in her office style task chair and settled in. Bringing her knees up to her chest, she clicked and typed away in an attempt to occupy her head.

Working had always been her escape. Work would never fail her. It would never hurt to look at. It would always go as she expected it to. And most importantly, it would never in a million years look her in the eyes and ask her to kiss it.

Slamming her hands on the keyboard Anna let out another frustrated grunt, but this time, it came accompanied by tears. She leaned back into her chair and brought up both her hands to her forehead.

'Why would he do that?!' She inwardly shouted. 'He knows just as well as I do that we can't.'

Without much thought, she moved one of her hands to her lips. The sound of his chocolaty smooth voice asking her to kiss him echoed in her head like a broken record. With her finger tips pressed against her pinkish lips she started to reminisce. Over and over again images of a time where she wouldn't have hesitated to claim his lips for herself flashed in her mind. Making her heart ache even more with every passing second.

Closing her eyes she sighed. Their time had ended.

There was no turning back for them.

For her.

For what she had done.

At Aiden's Estate.

Although it was still dark outside, Aiden had an early start to his day as always. Being his scheduled morning workout day, he was exercising in his indoor gym. Bear and Moose, like the loyal companions they were, laid on the floor near the doorway as they watched their master lift weights.

Just like any other gym, Aiden's had everything he could need or want to have a full workout. The only thing missing was a sparing partner, but that he resolved by taking time too train with his men too. He was almost done with his routine when from the corner of his eye he saw Bear's ear twitch. Before either of the dogs got up, Aiden pulled a knife from under the bench press he was laying in and skillfully threw it through the open door. He sat up as both dogs took an attack ready stance, when a loud voice was heard from the dark hallway.

"Shit! You almost got my cheek you asshole!" A rough manly voice cursed out.

Rolling his eyes, Aiden laid back down on the bench. "Moose, Bear, stand down." He commanded as he continued to exercise. Both dogs immediately did as instructed and shifted back to laying on the floor while watching him. A few seconds later, a man in athletic wear stood at the door.

"You know you could've killed me right?" The man said while he lifted the knife Aiden had thrown earlier.

"Oh please. You getting hit by a simple knife? The only thing you can't dodge is a bullet. And even then I wouldn't risk my money by betting on it." Aiden said as he placed the metal rod back on the hangers above his head.

"True." The man chuckled as he played with the knife in his hand. "But what if it was one of your employees dude? Even Jacob would've had to live with a scar on his pretty face."

"You know as well as I do that they're hours away from coming. As for Jacob, he should still be in a coma at this hour." He chuckled as he replied.

Jacob would always get up extra early and sleep in his car at the company's parking lot in an attempt to get to the office before Aiden did. Yet he'd always oversleep. It was one of his many badly "hidden" secret. But Aiden knew about it since he began to do it.

"Guess your right." The man said while chuckling too. He also knew of Jacob's car naps. "You're already done?" He asked as he watched Aiden dry the sweat off his face with a towel.

"Yeah. I have to go read through some paper work back at the office." Looking at the other man's tan lines he grinned. "I'm guessing it was a good vacation then?"

"You have no idea. But those puertorrican woman are seriously feisty man. They sure as hell can dance though." He answered as his lips curved upward. Flashing Aiden with his pearly white teeth.

"I told you you'd enjoy it. I'm actually surprised you even came back on time. It's a hard place to leave from." Aiden said between taking sips of water.

"Are you kidding? As soon as you told me about your little Cheeto I packed my bags. I'm dying to meet her." He said as he bent down to stretch his legs.

"Did you seriously just call her after a cheese puff?" Aiden shaked his head incredulously. He wondered what Claire's reaction would be if she ever heard herself being called like that.

"Come on it's endearing. I have to give my new little sister a nickname. I mean we're going to be family soon after all." Straightening his back he stood next to Aiden and placed an arm over his shoulder. "Isn't that right bro?"
