Chapter 12: Specifically For You

A few minutes had gone by before Luna half-heartedly tried to comfort Mina. While she still did not fully believe her story, she felt like Mina's control over the situation was limited. She knew that the girl's account was missing something, and it was becoming clear that Mina did not know what was missing.

The details just did not make sense. If Ian was the target, why was Mina the one in the hospital? Luna had a lot to ask, but both Ian and Mina claimed to have memory loss, so she decided to wait for a while before asking either of them any more questions.

Luna knew that on Mina's end, it was possible that she was not involved in creating the plan to sneak into Ian's room, and if so, it was brilliant. If Mina did not know any key details of the plan, she would not be able to be interrogated. Even if she were tortured or given a polygraph; she could only say she did not know, and it would be the truth.

While standing, Luna used her hand to gently rub Mina's shoulder. The girl was using the hospital sheets to wipe the tears on her face, but the rough material chafed her skin raw. It looked painful, but even in her current condition, the woman was gorgeous. She had been studying Mina's facial expressions for hours and it was hard not to notice her beauty.

Mina had a lightness about her that was inviting. Her hair was the color of chestnut and although it was unprofessionally cut, it had a healthy shine, and the uneven edges gave the woman an added layer of charm. Her warm hazel eyes were framed perfectly by her thick dark eyelashes. Her eyebrows were well maintained but they were not overly shaped and seemed to be natural. Her neck, which was now red and bruised, was long and elegant.

Luna felt it was weird that a woman such a beautiful woman did not have a boyfriend, but then again neither did she and she compared Mina to herself as a reference.

Luna had often been called a dark fairy, and people found her both beautiful and intimidating. Since she had come of age, her parents had been flooded with marriage proposals from other rich families, but Ian helped her turn them down so she could focus on her career. She had heard people describe her as having calm features.

Mina could be described as the complete opposite. Her face was airy, and her plump lips gave her a youthful appeal. Her skin was sun kissed, but not exactly tanned. It was as if someone had sprinkled golden powder on a porcelain doll. She also looked innocent, and it made Luna feel sorry for her. Even under the harsh fluorescent lights of the hospital, the woman was radiant.

Mina had calmed herself down enough that her cries no longer had sound, but tears still freely flowed down her cheeks, and her lungs still sucked in air erratically. A chill went up her spine, and it caused her whole body to shake. Her hospital gown fell off her shoulders, and she absentmindedly looked at herself as she picked it up.

It was then that she noticed the marks on her body, and she almost lost herself in tears again, but she saw Luna watching her and she forcefully swallowed it back down. She knew that Luna was observing her carefully, and she did not want her to tell President Lee that this method of torture was working.

Luna was still standing next to Mina when out of the corner of her eye she noticed someone hovering at the door and her posture stiffened. The woman was still trying to compose herself, but when she noticed the change in Luna's body language, she stopped crying completely. She looked up to see Luna's face, and saw her put one finger to her lips while she mouthed for her to shush.

Mina nodded her head as she watched Luna pull a small gun from the inner part of her jacket. She did a double take, and for the first time ever, she felt that she was blessed to have not been born into a wealthy Family. Luna Lee was in the medical field, and she still carried a gun with her. It was no wonder that President Lee did not believe her; he probably could not afford to. Even though she had told him everything, he had tortured her, and he was still torturing her, and it was likely because he could not be too careful.

Luna reached up and pulled the curtains around Mina's bed. She pointed the gun toward the door as she slowly moved sideways. She was about to tell Mina to get up and hide but the shadow at the door turned and faced her; it was Ian and he had been eavesdropping.

Luna put away her gun and walked toward her brother. It was obvious that he did not want to enter the room. Before she exited, she grabbed a folder off a nearby table; she stopped right outside the door and this time she spoke without closing it behind her.

"These are the results of your blood work. You were definitely drugged with something, but we haven't figured out what." Ian's expression became menacing, and he lifted his leg about to walk toward Mina, but he felt a small hand on his chest. His sister was stopping him, and she was still speaking.

"These are Mina's blood work results. She was also drugged."

Inside the room, Mina could hear the two people talking to one another and when she heard that both she and President Lee had been drugged she felt as if her world were about to collapse. She was terrified that President Lee would think she was the one who drugged him. Back then she thought she was so smart negotiating the $50,000 up front, but she had put a price on herself. She shamefully held her head and she listened to President Lee ask his sister why the concentration of the drug was higher in her sample when they had eaten the chocolate at the same time.

"The drug appears to be a powerful stimulant. The Concentration seems to have been specifically made for your weight group. In other words, it was specifically made for you." Luna held back a little in her speech. It was probable that Ian would kill Mina in the next few minutes if she did not phrase her next sentence carefully.

"Brother, Mina would have died if you had not brought her to the hospital. We cannot ignore that it may have been intentional." Ian's expression did not change. He looked at the folder in his hands as he questioned his sister.

"So, what you are saying is that she knew she was going to die when she ate the mint?" Luna tilted her head to the side, unable to give him a yes or no answer.

"I am not saying that she knew, and I do not have the answer to that question, but I do know there was no way she could have known you were going to give her that chocolate, or that you would eat one yourself. She also could not have known that you were going to take her to the hospital." Luna took a steadying breath. "Ian, it's still not the right time to deal with her."
