Chapter 39: Anders Corp Headquarters

Lisa arrived at the Anders Corp Headquarters and asked a secretary to inform her brother of her arrival. Over the past few days, she had been very disrespectful to both him and his wife. She did not want him to have her put out of his sight forcefully.

Lisa was led to a small coffee room where she waited for her brother. She looked around the room and wondered how long it had existed. Maybe she never noticed it because she never needed to wait before.

The room was set up like a high-end coffee shop. There were groups of black leather chairs placed around small coffee tables in various locations around the room. If two or three overlapping groups of people showed up for a meeting at the same time, the room was set up in such a way that the groups would not need to interact with one another unless they wanted to.

The coffee bar was self-service, and everything was individually wrapped and securely packaged. There were various flavors of coffee and creamers. It was an amazingly comfortable environment and Lisa decided that she would copy its design in one of her buildings. If she had any after her brother was done with her.

Just then a familiar figure entered the room, it was not her brother but…

"Charlotte?" Lisa said her name in a question.

"Hi! I stopped by to bring your brother something to eat and a change of clothes and decided to come see you. I haven't seen you in a while." Lisa smiled awkwardly and reminded herself to be civil. She casually changed the subject.

"When did brother add this room. I would like to get the name of the designer," she said. Charlotte flashed a toothy smile.

"You like it?" She asked. Lisa made a small noise in affirmation. "I designed it myself," Charlotte said. There was no animosity in her voice, and she did not speak in a mocking tone. She was simply stating a fact. Lisa raised an eyebrow.

"Come work for me then." Charlotte's face fell, she could not tell if Lisa was being sarcastic, but it looked like she was serious.

Lisa was a businesswoman by nature, and although she had let her ventures get away from her, she knew talent when she saw it. Besides, her brother may go easy on her if she were a little nicer to her sister-in-law. Lisa looked down at Charlotte's belly and patted her own stomach. The movement was subtle, but Charlotte caught it. She wanted to ask but Kace entered the room just as she was going to speak. Lisa looked up at her brother and grabbed her bag, preparing to follow him into his office. As Lisa walked by Charlotte, she said

"I am serious, think about it."

Zane had nearly finished going through every resume Ian handed him. There were well over thirty women in the pile and each one was as beautiful as the next. Some of them were simply unqualified for the positions they applied for, but others were perfect candidates. At a glance, the only thing these people had in common was their gender. Other than that, it seemed as if someone got lazy and shoved a bunch of resumes, they did not want to review in the storage room.

Zane was not in a rush and took his time on this project because Ian had already told him he would not need the result for another few weeks. In another few days, he would hand this project over to a specialist.

----

Luna was working in her study, her fingers moved at a record pace as she typed up the conclusions and findings from her latest research group. She was working on a dating platform, but so far, she had not had any luck on how to achieve her goal.

Because Luna had been single for nearly all her twenty-four years of life, this project was important to her. She had already wasted time on Dr. Bell, and she was not going to waste more time on anyone else. Her project was basically motivated by her own interest in falling in love with the right person. She had not told her family about this project, and her Nan only knew that it had something to do with personalities and profiles. As far as Nan was concerned, Luna was creating a filing system for her study results.

Luna had started working on this project six years ago. She stopped working on it when she met Dr. Bell. In that brief span of time, she genuinely believed that she had found her perfect match, but she was wrong.

After Dr. Bell left her for someone else, Luna started working on the platform once again, but for some reason she could not get over a small hump that made all her results faulty. The more research she did, the better her algorithm would be, so Luna vowed to dedicate herself to this venture. Even if it did not benefit her, she hoped it would benefit someone like her.

Luna remembered that ten years ago, Ian declared to a room full of people that women were a distraction to success, but what he meant was misplaced love. Misplaced love was a distraction to success. Luna was working to make sure love was no longer misplaced.

Currently, Luna had been continuously putting off her work to help her brother with the family business. Normally, Ian would only seek her assistance once or twice in a month's time. But, over the last year, they had been unable to completely stabilize the Lee Group under Ian. No matter how many people they made disappear, something else seemed to pop up at the last minute. Now Ian was in another pile of mess and Luna found herself spending less and less time on her own happiness.

If they did not need to hide their father's illness, Ian would not be in this situation. He would have been able to take his time and assert his dominance within the company over the years, but his takeover was clumsy and rushed. Businessmen were not idiots. They could smell blood in the water, but the Lee family was not to be taken lightly.

Luna closed her laptop and rubbed the bridge of her nose. She wanted to sleep but she still needed to go convince her brother to give her additional blood samples. She wondered if Mina were still alive. Knowing her brother, the girl was probably barely hanging onto her last breath. She decided to call Ian and ask him directly.
