Chapter 87: My Brother Has a Girlfriend

Mina entered the dining room wearing a black and white stripe, long sleeve shirt that fit loosely. It was paired with black high waisted pants that were cinched at the ankles and waist with a girly bow. Although nothing could be seen, the shirt Mina was wearing gave one the impression that if she lifted her arms high enough her body would be exposed. Her hair was lazily pulled up and it masked the fact that it was unevenly cut. Mina's long and elegant neck was fully exposed, and it enhanced her natural beauty. She was dressed in simple lounge wear but for some reason, she looked a little too sexy. Ian caught sight of his friend's reaction and thought to himself that he would fire the person who bought that outfit as soon as dinner was over. He had specifically instructed his subordinates not to buy anything revealing or sexy. They obviously failed him. Luna was the first to say something.

"Wow Mina, this style really suits you," Luna said, and Mina pointed to Nan.

"She picked this out for me," Mina replied with a smiling face. Ian, however, looked at his nan with a face full of betrayal. His nan, oblivious, looked back at him with a face full of excitement.

Once before, Ruby had come into the sitting room only to see Ian sitting on the couch watching a video on his phone. She was able to catch a glimpse of a beautiful girl in the clip before he shut it off. He told her it was a scene from a movie, but the flush on his face told her otherwise. When she saw Mina for the first time, she instantly recognized her. She had not intended for the outfit she picked out to look so alluring, but Mina had an amazing figure and Ruby was sure that she would have looked equally stunning in anything she put on. The girl had not even powdered her face, but she looked as though she were wearing makeup. She was just that pretty.

----

Zane felt like, he waited for a long time for Ian to usher Mina into the seat beside him, but his friend did not move, and only stared blankly. Mina eventually picked a chair on her own. She sat directly beside Zane, leaving the seat nearest to President Lee open for his Nan. Once the three women were seated, the men returned to their places. Zane seriously wondered if Ian liked the girl at all. At every turn he seemed to avoid the opportunity to get closer to her. As a result, Mina and Zane began to exchange conversation as the serving staff entered the dining room carrying various dishes. The servers were shocked to see Miss Ruby had returned and they silently greeted her with a respectful nod.

One of the staff members began to serve the dishes and he could not help but to notice the beautiful young woman sitting beside CEO Zane. Stealing glances at her, he realized with a start that it was Mina!

Mina, who was bad at remembering the faces of people who she didn't interact with much, did not immediately recognize the man. She noticed him look in her direction several times before it finally occurred to her that he was one of the people she helped in the kitchen earlier. She smiled at the man, and made sure to commit his face to memory, as he placed a large plate of steamed vegetables before her. With Mina smiling at him, the man's heart began to race, he did not know she was studying his feature for later reference and nothing more.

Out of the corner of her eye, Mina could see President Lee's expression darken. She turned to look at Zane who also had an eyebrow raised. Mina realized what her staring must have looked like and opened her mouth to explain but President Lee was faster with his words.

"Do you know this woman?" He asked the man who was serving. Still in a daze from Mina's smile, the man did not sense the hostility behind his boss's words and answered in the affirmative. Zane lightly shook his head. Out of self-preservation one should know when to lie. Obviously, this man was never taught that lesson and his next few sentences proved it.

"She helped me in the kitchen today," he said. "Without this lovely woman's help, dinner would have been pushed back by at least another hour." Zane pinched the bridge of his nose, and only then did the man realize he said something wrong. Miss Ruby, who had noted the change in the atmosphere, used her position to try to resolve the miscommunication and the man caught on quickly.

"Miss Mina helped everyone in the kitchen today," he said. "She is really a beauti…" he trailed off and rethought his choice of words. "She is a good person," he said.

Luna, who did not know how her brother felt toward Mina, softly rebuked the man, telling him that in the future no one unauthorized should be allowed to help with anything in the kitchen. She attributed her brother's hostility toward the fact that Mina could have poisoned their food. Zane rolled his eyes in absolute incredulousness. Either Luna was an idiot, or she was in denial. Ian probably had not even thought of poison once! He just did not like the way the man was looking at Mina. Even Zane, who had already set Mina aside as off limits, felt that the man had looked one time too many, although he did not blame him. Mina looked like a completely different person in clothing that fit her properly.

----

Mina felt incredibly uncomfortable, she was being discussed as if she were not there. She did not know how to appease President Lee and was too afraid to say anything that might get the kitchen staff in trouble. When Miss Ruby stepped in and forcibly eased the tension in the room, only then did she remember to breathe.

Analyzing Mina's behavior at the table, Zane realized that something was off. He realized that Mina had not made eye contact with Ian once, and whenever he spoke, her whole body tensed as if she were too afraid to move and interrupt him. Zane tried to break the ice with a joke.

"Luna, did you ever think your brother would move a girl in before me?" Mina froze with her eyes wide open. Luna did not allow the joke to progress any further.

"My brother has a girlfriend." Mina's head fell slightly from embarrassment. Luna did not see her brother shooting daggers at her through his eyes, and even her nan was caught off guard.

"Oh, Ian is that so?" Their nan asked, and Zane came to his rescue.

"Miss Ruby, it was just a joke. I didn't mean to get Ian in trouble," Zane said, but Luna did not seem to want to let the conversation go.
