Chapter 129: The Perfect Couple

Mina woke up with a terrible headache. The aspirin she took did not seem to help and even soaking in the tub did nothing for her. She remembered President Lee's words the night before and felt sick. He must have been so disgusted at the sight of someone being nice to her that he wanted to destroy her momentary happiness. He must have planned to show up with his girlfriend and torment her. He had tried to tell her before they left, but both she and Luna had mistaken his warnings as concern. President Lee had told his sister that bringing Mina along was a bad idea, and Mina just realized it was probably because of him. She hated him more now than ever. He had violently taken her, yet somehow; she was the one who was seen as in the wrong.

Mina wondered if president Lee was even drugged that night and if he weren't, would anyone tell her the truth? She was about to spiral into another panic attack when there was a knock on the door, she was grateful that the sound startled her back into reality. Still she ignored it, she would rather starve than be forced to sit beside that man and his terrible woman.

----

Tara walked into Mina's room worriedly. She and Miss Ruby had come to find Mina several times in the morning, but each time, she refused to come down for breakfast and President Lee refused to let her eat in the room. His nan tried to convince her that he wanted to apologize for his outburst, but Mina told her to tell President Lee that his apology was not accepted. Now, Tara was back… again.

"Tara please, I told you, I will not leave this room until those terrible people are gone."

"Mina it's not that… You… well you have… You have a guest." Mina looked at the woman confused.

"I have a what?"

"The person is waiting in the visitors' room," Tara said. Not knowing who it could be, Mina reluctantly got out of bed and followed Tara. She could tell by the girl's expression that this guest was not a welcome one, and she feared that it would cause her more trouble in the future.

----

When Mina entered the visitors' room, President Lee, Luna, and Lisa were all silently staring at CEO Rue, who was holding something in his hand. He was the first to see Mina, and his eyes lit up when he did.

"You're a hard person to find," he said playfully as he handed her something heavy. Opening the bag, Mina could see it was some kind of soup.

"Mr. Rue, this isn't my home, I'm afraid I can't ask you to stay," She said apologetically, but Cylus only smiled.

"I just wanted to make sure you were okay," he said, "now that I know you are fine, I feel a lot better." In reality, Cylus did not feel better. Mina's eyes looked as if she had been crying and her lips were dry and cracked. He could tell that she probably had not had any water in a few hours. Pretending everything was fine, he gave her a slight bow. His action made Mina blush, but her smile melted off her face quickly when President Lee stepped into her line of sight.

Cylus could tell that Mina and President Lee had some sort of relationship, although he was not clear on what kind. He hadn't heard anything about the man being a sadist, but it was not uncommon within their circle. He wondered if Mina had been purchased as a toy to use before he formally married Lisa, but he found the thought unlikely as he knew Lisa would never allow it. Cylus glanced in President Lee's direction and happened to catch a smug and gratified look on Lisa's face. She was clearly reveling in Mina's obvious discomfort. Cylus decided to return the favor.

"Miss Lisa, thank you for getting rid of Miss Luna for me. I don't think I would have stood a chance with Mina otherwise." Lisa's face went flat. She knew Cylus was trying to make her look bad. Lisa grabbed Ian's arm and flashed a fake smile.

"That's what friends are for," she replied, putting extra emphasis on the word 'friends'. Cylus scoffed and left. Ian turned to look at Lisa.

"How do you know him?" Ian asked.

----

Mina was unsure of what her next move should be. She stood rooted to the spot, waiting for permission to do anything. She had never experienced anyone other than her mother, sister and Tara caring for her in any way. She wanted to feel happy about it, but President Lee's words played in her mind over and over again. Maybe Mr. Rue thought the same way? Maybe he thought his gesture would win her over? Otherwise, why would he come all the way to the Lee mansion and how did he know where to find her? She had heard what the man said to Lisa, and she couldn't help but to think that all of it was all a ploy. Even the soup in her hands felt like it weighed a thousand pounds.

Mina was already trembling when a shadow stood before her.

"Did you tell him where you lived?" A voice asked, but Mina did not respond. She nearly dropped the bag in her hands, but President Lee caught it. "Mina, last night, I was just angry. If I weren't there, you could have been hurt," President Lee said as he placed the soup back in her hands.

"Ian, leave her alone," Lisa said. She couldn't hear what her man was saying to Mina, but she could tell the girl had become agitated. "Ian, she is probably mad because you didn't ask Cylus to stay. I told your sister that you two are too protective of her. You should let her have fun," Lisa said, and Mina narrowed her eyes. That woman and president Lee were perfect for each other.

"Mina, did you hear me?" Ian said, clearly ignoring his own girlfriend. Mina pretended not to hear him, and she headed back to her room.
