Chapter 139: Tackled

Mina rubbed the back of her head.

Lisa had pushed her with more strength than she thought the woman was capable.

The guard that President Lee assigned to her looked worried. Mina knew that he probably felt responsible for not keeping a closer eye on her, so when he asked her if she was okay, she lied to make him feel better. In reality, her head was throbbing, and she could feel a knot growing in the spot that hit the ground.

Mina laughed to ease the man's mind, but it only seemed to make him more concerned.

"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked.

"I am fine," Mina said. "It's just that I didn't think your face could show any expression other than a frown." The man smirked at Mina, he knew she was deflecting, but he would not patronize her by forcing her to admit she was hurt. Sometimes, women were not given the credit they deserved for their resilience.

"Let me take a look," the guard said, and Mina allowed him to scan the back of her head. "It'll hurt for a few days," he said. Normally, Mina would not have allowed him to get so close to her, but she was a little worried that the injury may have split, and she couldn't look at it herself.

---

After carefully inspecting the area where the bump had formed, the man asked Mina to look into his eyes. She knew he was trying to make sure she had no signs of a concussion, but she was still uneasy about it. He seemed to notice that Mina was feeling uncomfortable, so to help calm her, the guard cracked a joke.

"Don't worry. You're not my type." Mina chuckled guiltily.

"What is your name? I think I need a favor from you," Mina said.

"My name is Cedrick, but you can call me Dom." Mina raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Dom?" she asked.

"It's my surname." Mina nodded in understanding. It was not uncommon for military men to address one another by their last name instead of their given name, especially in cases where multiple people had the same first name, but Cedrick was not a common name in Pan. She found herself staring at him and then realized he was one of the most physically fit guards she had seen. Plus, he had specifically told her that she was not his type, which made her feel more confident. Making up her mind, Mina shot him a question.

"Is it possible to tone in two weeks?" Mina asked. Dom shrugged his shoulders.

"It depends on how dedicated the person is," he said.

"Help me do it?" She asked. The man looked at her, not really understanding the sudden request, but he couldn't see any harm in it, so he agreed.

----

Camille had been waiting for the elevator beside Miss Lisa. She watched the woman scan the area and make a beeline in a specific direction. When Camille looked to see where the woman was headed in such a rush, she noticed Mina lazily walking around. She did not know why, but she had a bad feeling and decided to stick to the spot and watch the scene play out. Her eyes widened as she saw Miss Lisa tackle Mina like a professional athlete.

Thinking back to how Mina humiliated her in the past, Camille expected a fight to ensue, but the girl simply laughed off the aggressive contact.

----

Lisa smugly made her way back to the elevators where she noticed Camille staring.

"Did you see that?" Lisa asked. "She walked right into me on purpose. Luckily, I am stronger than I look." Camille forced a smile.

"Fortunately," Camille replied.

"I'll have to tell my Ian about that girl's violence. I heard she even attacked you." Camille tried hard to keep the look of scorn off her face. Not only was that a lie, but if it weren't for Mina, she probably would not have a job right now.

"You should tell him," Camille said. "There are cameras all over the lobby. She won't be able to defend herself if he checks." Lisa's face turned pale; she had not thought about the cameras.

"For now, I think I will keep it to myself," Lisa said. She was unable to tell if Camille was friend or foe from her statement but nonetheless, the woman had just saved her from making a horrible mistake. She had been planning to limp into Ian's office pointing the finger at Mina. Even if there were several hundred witnesses, none of them would have dared to go against her word, as they all feared her as the future wife of their boss.

"It's probably for the best," Camille said. "There is always next time." The elevator doors opened and both women stepped out and parted ways.

----

Mina and Dom sat in the waiting area of the Lee building. The man was explaining the exercise and diet regimen he recommended for her. He explained to Mina that if she stuck to a strict diet, toning would be easier, but since her diet was beyond her current control the man was left no choice but to assign her a more grueling workout routine.

Every morning Dom expected Mina to jog for at least fifteen minutes. He also gave her various arm and leg exercises that were meant to be done at specific times throughout the day.

"Isn't this over exercising?" Mina asked and Dom shook his head.

"Not if you keep to your time schedule. You will be sore for the first few days to a week. After that it'll feel like nothing."

Mina was already regretting asking the man for advice. She swept her eyes over his body and came to the late realization that he was probably a gym rat. She had only asked because she remembered being told that all guards, on and off duty, were required to log a certain number of hours of physical activity. Feeling defeated, Mina cut the man off. She really wished she could cancel on Mr. Eric and forget about anything.
