After struggling her way through university, Mina Harlow, a top tier graduate (and literal genius), with the aspiration of lifting her family out of poverty, was still living in the slums, taking odd jobs to earn a living. Desperate to for her next source of income, Mina aligns herself with the wrong people, and finds herself amid several conspiracies that keep becoming more and more confounded by misunderstandings. She is mistaken for a spy, by one of the most influential families in the country and held captive as the confusion, mishaps and misunderstandings build up all around her. Under the extreme circumstance, Mina is thrown into despair, hatred and love all that the same time, but will the experience break her or make her ‘better?’ 

(This story is set in a fictional, modern day patriarchal society on the brink of a shift public opinion on the 'role' of the woman.)

When a Genius Makes a Mistake

Lisa was nervously waiting in the car while Charlotte sat by silently. The woman's behavior was perfect for the situation, and Lisa hated it. She found herself reminded of why she disliked her brother's wife in the first place.


The more Lisa thought about it, the more she realized that Mina was just a poor version of Charlotte. They both had the personality where they viewed life as 'it could always be worse' and Lisa was sure that both of them used more than just their personalities to win over the men they set their eyes on. She became irritated by the thought of Mina and it showed on her face. Lisa could see Charlotte reaching her hand toward her shoulder, but she slapped it away.


"I don't need your pity," Lisa said. "You're no better than that slut who is trying to steal my man." The corners of Charlotte's lips curved down. She did not know that her sister-in-law thought that about her.


"You really think you know everything about me, don't you?" Charlotte asked.
