Chapter 251: Delusional

When Mina was done playing, she immediately left the stage wanting to get as far away from everyone as possible, but she was stopped by a woman who looked to be in her mid to late forties. Mina did not want to be rude, but she was not in the mood for an entitled woman, rude comments or anything that had to do with furthering her humiliation.

Mina had been openly 'purchased' by President Lee and the notion made her feel uncomfortable and dirty. Thoughts of how badly she suffered during those three weeks of torment began to surface and Mina's eyes started to fill with water when the older woman reached out and grabbed her hand forcefully. She could barely make out the woman's face behind her tears.

"Don't let them see you cry," the woman said. The words helped to snap Mina out of her near breakdown, but she still fled the area and found a secluded room where she could calm her nerves.

Mina stood with her back pressed to the door for a long time before she noticed an elderly woman sitting in a wheelchair and staring at her. She did not need to ask; she intuitively knew that the old woman was Cylus' grandmother. She was surprised to find the woman sitting alone.

A short while later, CEO Rue and the woman who grabbed Mina's hand, also entered the room. She now knew that woman was Madam Rue and seeing her stand close to Cylus put their similarities into full view.

Cylus spoke to Mina cautiously. He knew she had overheard his conversation with President Lee, and he saw that he had messed up.

"I should have checked the names," he said, but Mina just shrugged without words.

Cylus did not know how to apologize for what he had said, but he still wanted to try. He went to hold Mina's hand, but she stepped away from him. The action put him in the direct line of sight of his grandmother.

"Cy, my baby Cy. You are here," called out a voice that Mina knew came from the old woman in the wheelchair.

"I'm here gran, how are you?" Cylus asked in a tone that was filled with endearment. The old woman did not answer Cylus. Instead, she reached out a shaky hand and beckoned for Mina to come to her. Mina of course, obliged.

In her dress, Mina kneeled before the old woman, as custom dictated, who stroked her face lovingly before reaching to remove the necklace from Mina's neck.

Cylus became stiff with his grandmother's actions but he said nothing. The times she recognized any of them were becoming rare, and he did not want to ruin the moment by questioning her, but her daughter; Madam Rue, could not hold back.

"Mom, what are you doing?" she asked cautiously.

"It's not the right one," the old woman said. After removing the necklace from Mina's neck, she looked up at her grandson. "Cy, get my kit please." Cylus moved with such speed that Mina had not even stood up when he returned with a nurse and jewelry working tools.

"Are you making something?" Madam Rue asked her mother, but the old woman was hard at work. She began to hum as she did, and Mina tilted her head to the side.

For as long as Mina could remember, her mother had told her that the tune she hummed for her children at bedtime was made up. She shook the thought from her mind. She had just played the melody and it must have stuck with the old woman before her.

There was silence in the room when the old woman signed in satisfaction. She beckoned for Mina to come to her and once again, Mina kneeled before the old woman.

"The last one was wrong. It was not the one for family," the old woman said, and Mina's eyes widened in shock. She said nothing as she allowed the old woman to fasten the white leather necklace around her neck. The wire pendant had been reworked and now, it was nearly identical to Cylus'. "Cy," the old woman called out.

"Yes, granny?" Cylus responded reverently.

"Take good care of your sister for granny, okay?" Cylus' face fell. He had been friend zoned by Mina and now his grandmother had put a firm stamp on it. Cylus saw Mina struggling to hold back her laugh, and even his mother was chuckling a bit in the corner.

"Okay granny. I will," Cylus replied. He looked from his grandmother's face, to Mina's face and realized why he felt Mina was so familiar.

Although age had taken its toll, Mina and his granny shared the same eye shape and face structure; even the color of their eyes was similar, although Mina's were a lot lighter and brighter than the old woman's had ever been.

Cylus was suddenly turned off by Mina, and the idea of seeing her as a sister seemed more appropriate than ever. He watched his grandmother yawn before becoming a bit agitated, and the nurse he brought in quickly came over to tend to the old woman with Cylus following closely behind her.

With the moment passed, Madam Rue was suddenly extremely interested in Mina, and she wondered what Miss Lisa's motive was in slandering the girl, she could now tell was innocent. Maybe even a little dense.

"Mina, are you dating my son?" Madam Rue asked and Mina flatly denied it. In fact, she denied it with so much emphasis that Madam Rue felt a little offended. Her son was very handsome. "Then why did Miss Lisa say that you were using my son to launch your career?" The woman asked and Mina did not hold back.

"Miss Lisa is delusional," Mina said. Madam Rue thought back to President Lee who had bid an astronomical amount of money on Mina, then helped the girl salvage her reputation by suggesting for her to play the piano. She suddenly felt like she had some measure of why Miss Lisa would want to sabotage Mina.

"Was she the one who added you to the drawing?" Mina shook her head.

"As much as I want to blame Miss Lisa. I am not delusional. She had nothing to do with what happened earlier, but I am sure she did not try to stop it either." Mina took a deep breath. She knew that things were going to get worse now that Luna was openly trying to humiliate her.

Madam Rue opened her mouth to ask Mina another question about Miss Lisa, but the girl did not get to answer because Cylus walked back into the room. He approached Mina but she took a step back not allowing him to get close.

Mina attempted to remove the necklace from around her neck, so she could return it to the family, but Madam Rue stopped her.

"That necklace is yours to keep. Do not feel guilty for taking it. This is the first time mom has been so lucid in many weeks. Consider it a gift for the song you played earlier." Mina nodded. She then politely excused herself. Leaving the mother and son alone in the rest area.
