Chapter 258: Do You Like Me?

Mina looked at Dom, and not just in the sense that her eyes were on his being. She looked at him the way a person looked at someone they genuinely cared about. His eyes were on hers and she could see something in them that told her he was bothered by her nonchalance. Mina suddenly felt like she needed to put an end to his affections before he did something that would tie his life to hers.

"Dom, do you like me?" Mina asked. Dom's eyes widened. He did not expect her to ask him that question so bluntly.

"I do but I don't," Dom replied honestly. "To say I like you wouldn't be a lie, and to say I am uninterested in you would also, not be a lie." Mina looked at Dom, confused. "You are different from most women and I don't mean that in terms of beauty Mina."

"You only feel that way because you are shallow. You haven't met every woman to make that assumption," Mina said and Dom smiled.

"See, that is what makes you different. You know my flaws, but you have never tried to convince me to change. I have literally shown you the worst side of me, but you have never tried to stop me from being who I am."

Mina did not know her personality was considered a good quality that a woman could possess. She just treated Dom the way she wished to be treated. In fact, she treated everyone that way. She also noticed that Dom was deflecting.

"You never answered my question," Mina said. Dom sighed, unsure how he should answer.

"The short answer is no, but the more I get to know you, the more it becomes a maybe. The problem is, I'm not ready to commit to anyone, and I feel like you are 'last girlfriend' material." Mina blushed and Dom smiled. "Mina, I don't think President Lee wants anyone to hurt you, but if something happens; I have-"

"Dom no!" Mina said, afraid of what she might hear. "I owe you too much already. If you want to help me; just make sure my parents don't suffer." The response irritated the man.

----

President Lee had secretly moved Mina out of his home. Lisa was unaware, his sister was unaware, and his nan, who was still on vacation, was unaware. He did not want to let the girl go, but until his relationship with Lisa was clarified, it was the best option for her.

Zane had agreed to lease an apartment under his mother's name, and he had paid the rent for a few months. Ian wanted to do that himself, but Zane convinced him that Mina would never feel comfortable with that fact, so Ian allowed his friend to cover the expense.

Both men agreed to keep Mina's new living arrangements between just a few people. The less who knew, the better and the closer they were to Mina, the safer. If people believed Mina was still under Ian's roof, they would not attempt to show up at her doorstep.

For that same reason, President Lee allocated Mina a security detail that consisted of Dom, James, and Jessica; two of the other Lee guards who Mina had become close with. Ian had almost asked Jessica to move in with Mina, but he had a feeling that it would be the same as asking Dom or James. Although Ian was letting Mina go, he was still unwilling to give her up.

----

Mina surveyed the apartment that Zane had rented for her. It was fully furnished and had a modern design. Everything was decorated in white or grey, and even the wood floors were extremely light in color. There were no personal touches, but Mina did not need those things.

Mina made her way into the master bedroom and checked the closest. Unsurprisingly, it was filled with clothing that she knew did not come from Zane. The style looked like the things Miss Luna had purchased for her. Which Mina could not understand because she and Luna were not on friendly terms.

"Dom, where did these clothes come from?" Mina asked, and Dom saw no reason to lie, all her other clothing came from the same source and she hadn't protested.

"President Lee ordered someone to purchase them for you." Mina spun around quickly.

"Why?" She asked, suspiciously.

"The same reason he did before," Dom replied. Mina felt like her mind had exploded.

"Didn't Miss Luna buy those clothes for me?" Mina asked, and Dom shook his head.

"Is that what she told you?" Dom asked. Mina shook her head. She had assumed, but in hindsight, it made more sense that President Lee did not want her to make him look bad in public.

"Please extend my thanks to your employer," Mina said, and Dom agreed although he was put off by how fake her thanks had been.

After touring the apartment, Mina felt heavy all over. President Lee had already tried to convince her that he had a sound recording from the night they were drugged, and Mina knew that the man must have had a reason for doing so. She had no idea what he had planned, but Mina was sure that it was something unpleasant and she was almost positive it would be passed down through the hands of his girlfriend which would make him innocent.

----

Mina sat on the sofa in the living area and ran her fingers through her hair while lightly tugging at the roots. Her head was hung low and Dom could tell she was stressed. He sat next to her and reached out his arm to stroke Mina's back. He hovered his hand for a long time before he patted her in a comforting fashion. Mina looked up at him and was surprised, but did not seem uncomfortable, she just smiled.

"I am okay," Mina said. "It's just going to take some time for me to adjust. I've been living at the whim of the Lee's for too long and now I can't stop my brain from wondering if what I want to do abides by their rules or not." Dom looked at Mina sympathetically. She was describing symptoms that he remembered reading about in a book written by a former prisoner of war.

"I should go and give you time to get used to things," Dom said, but Mina reached out and grabbed his hand, holding it tightly.

"Stay, just for a little while. Please?" She asked. Dom did not know how to respond, but he hated how terrified she looked. "I can cook for us," Mina suggested. She had already gone through the kitchen and was not shocked to see it fully supplied.

Dom wanted to reject the offer; in fact, he knew that he should. It was getting late and although Mina was a single woman who could do whatever she wanted, he was sure his boss believed otherwise.

"I will stay, but only for dinner." Dom replied and Mina nodded her head vigorously.

"What do you like to eat?'' she asked. "I can make anything."
