Chapter 265: Fix It First

Mina did not appreciate the look Cylus was giving her. He was gazing into her eyes in a way that made her feel gross. She had often heard the saying that everyone had a twin somewhere, and now that she was living it, she did not like it at all.

Cylus did not look exactly like her father, but his facial expressions were so similar that it was hard not to draw a comparison.

"Allow me to get to know you," Cylus asked and Mina felt her face twitch.

"Cylus, I'm sorry but-"

"I know what you are going to say, but aren't little girls supposed to like men who remind them of their father?" Cylus joked.

Mina's mouth hung open in shock over what she had just heard Cylus say. She could feel her eyes watering from being open so wide and she was about to throw her pen at the man. Her eyes narrowed and Cylus let out a bellowing laugh that captured the attention of those around them.

"Relax, I'm joking. I told you that I like your company. It is rare to find a person that wants nothing from me. Plus, my mother found out about what Lisa did and she insisted I make it up to you." Mina was still without words, and when she came to her senses, she pinched Cylus' arm hard.

"You scared me!" Mina said through gritted teeth. "I thought you were serious." Cylus did not bother to answer, he just kept laughing.

"I doubt we are related, but we can always have our DNA tested if you'd like," Cylus said while laughing but Mina just kept punching his arm.

"What if you really are my brother? What would I tell my mother?" Mina whined.

"What would I tell my father?" Cylus asked. He was still laughing, but Mina looked serious. She was still pushing him and punching his arm in annoyance, which Cylus did not mind. If she had forgiven him, everything else could come with time. The pair was so distracted that they did not notice Director Porter watching.

"CEO Rue, what a nice surprise," Director Porter said. He had been waiting for the pair to stop flirting but started to find his own hovering creepy.

Mina stood up abruptly and apologized to director Porter. She bowed her head and went to excuse herself, but her boss stopped her. She stood quietly behind the director and waited for her cue to leave.

"Director Porter, I hope you don't mind that I've taken the time of your assistant," Cylus said, but he knew the man had no issue.

"Today is Mina's first day. She has done as much as she can and has nothing left to work on. Your presence did not distract her at all." Mina looked at director Porter and knew he was humbling himself, but she could not tell why.

"Is Mina a part of the production team?" Cylus asked, and director Porter recited Mina's official job title. "How do you like it so far?" Cylus asked Mina, who was looking at her boss suspiciously. She wanted to answer, but director Porter beat her to it.

"Mina is doing well, she has already figured out that the production is going to go over budget." Mina's eyes narrowed further. Her boss was shameless.

"Director Porter, as much as I would love to support a friend, you know that I have already invested enough by sending you one of my artists."

"Ah, yes. I agree, but I was wondering if you could introduce Mina to some people you think may be interested in investing," Matthew said. Cylus smirked, he was not planning on doing anything except apologizing, but his mind had been successfully changed.

"Now that you mention it. I was planning on meeting a few friends for dinner. Perhaps Mina could accompany me?" Mina's eyes widened and she jumped into the conversation before she could be volunteered.

"Sir, I don't have a phone or a vehicle. I would be stranded," Mina said. It was Cylus who answered.

"You could leave with me now, and I will take you home in the evening." Mina scowled.

"I am extremely uncomfortable with that arrangement," she said.

"Unfortunately, it is in your job description," Director Porter said. While he was speaking, he dug into his pocket and fished out a phone. "Take my device, I can collect it in the morning." Mina reached out to take what she was being offered and her brain started to formulate an escape plan.

"Thank you, sir," Mina said with a smile. She planned to make good use of the opportunity presented to her.

----

Mina and Cylus were making their way out of the film site when Jessica approached them with an unfriendly expression on her face.

"Think twice about this Hun," the woman said as she shook her head. She and the others were given direct and specific orders regarding Mina, and CEO Cylus Rue was not a part of them.

"It's for work," Mina said innocently. She flashed her boss's mobile and handed it to Jessica. The woman made a call and confirmed that the device was registered to Mina's employer.

"You will ride with me and when you arrive, I will be tracking that phone," Jessica said. As much as she liked Mina; she loved herself more, and she would not die because of a love rival. Mina nodded and started to make her way to Jessica, but Cylus grabbed her arm.

"Mina, he can't treat you like a child," Cylus said.

"I'll be okay. Just give me the address to where we should meet, and I will be there." Cylus already had Director Porter's number, so it was easy for him to send the information.

----

Jessica was not as dumb as Mina had once believed and the woman had been warning her about actions without pause.

"Mina I might be more like a man than a woman, but I don't think between my legs," Jessica said. "I like you, but not enough to pretend not to notice what you are doing."

"I don't know what you are talking about," Mina said, trying to keep the guilt out of her tone.

"Bullsh*t Mina but let me ask you. What do you think is going to happen to that pretty boy when you are gone?" Mina stiffened.

"I wasn't-"

"Mina shut up! You can lie to James and Dom, but not me. I have already reported the phone to my superiors and your security detail has been doubled. Don't do anything stupid."

"Jessi-" Mina tried to say, but she was interrupted again.

"Mina no. I feel terrible about what's happening to you, but I do not want the details. Whatever you did to President Lee that pissed him off, you must fix it before you disappear. Otherwise, not just myself, but everyone you care about, hell everyone who cares about you, will suffer." Mina hung her head low. Either Jessica had some experience with running away or she was easy to read.

"I hear you," Mina said. She felt Jessica's hand rest on her shoulder before giving it a tight squeeze.

"I'm sorry Mina but, I have already been sent to camp in the past. I barely made it, and I will never allow myself to go back again."
