Chapter 299: Needed

On the plus side of things, Mina had gotten Oric and Cylus to come to an agreement regarding her possible employment. All she had to do was start removing days from the times she was willing to work and the men accepted her terms immediately. Two days of each week would be exclusively set aside for Leading Incorporated, while three days would be set aside for Rouge Entertainment.

Mina had yet to sign a contract with either man, but she hoped that both men would send the necessary documents to her through Olivia, who Mina was sure she would see soon. Not just because she still had the woman's phone, but also because of Dom.

----

After finding out that her apartment complex had a gym, Mina did not bother with going to the Lee facility. Still, Dom forced her to accompany him, because he still needed to log his hours, and by his logic, it made more sense for them to workout at the same time. Jessica was different from Dom, as she was still in training and was required to log less hours than him, the same went for James.

Either way, Mina was making the most of her time. She had even almost forgotten about President Lee, who had not contacted, or even sent any instruction for her in days. That fact should have comforted Mina, but it only made her uneasy, because she felt like he was waiting for her to let her guard down before he did something drastic. Mina also had not put to bed the theory that he was waiting for Miss Lisa to handle Mina on her own, and the loss of Director Porter's protection was not a good thing.

"We should go get ready for your meeting," Jessica said. She had become a lot more friendly toward Mina and behaved more like a deadly personal assistant than a security guard. Mina wiped her brow and nodded.

----

Mina sat inside of the small cafe and waited for Dr. Tavin Bell to arrive. The man had told her that he wanted to meet her and thank her in person. He was running late because he was working to make up for his assistants, who had made several small mistakes while he was out. When the man finally arrived, he was still dressed in business wear and Mina finally got a good enough look to see why Miss Luna found him attractive.

The pair did not meet for long, in fact their conversation was brief. It lasted about as long as it took for either person to watch their drink turn cold, but what needed to be said had been said.

Tavin did not want Mina to tell Luna that he was unaware she believed they were in a relationship. He told Mina that he had a sort of 'awakening' after his near-death experience and did not plan to waste any more time on a misunderstanding he was not sure could be corrected.

Being a logical person, Mina could see the wisdom in Dr. Bell's words. She did not bother to tell him that she had not spoken to Luna since the night of the charity event, nor did she tell him that she tried to approach Luna regarding his condition but was met with hostility. Mina did not think that information was important; it seemed like the man's mind was made.

Once Tavin left, Jessica rejoined Mina and the women discussed Mina's next stop of the day. She was scheduled to visit Leading to meet with Mrs. Lamar, who wanted Mina to accompany her to an event as an 'assistant'. Mina was unenthused by the idea, but the pay was tempting, and because it was an event for women, Mina felt less of a threat.

----

The meeting with Mrs. Lamar went well. Despite the rumors, Oric's mother was a kind woman who chatted endlessly about her son, and how great he was. During the meeting, Mina found out that Oric was named after both parents, Erica, and Orion. The couple believed that their blended children should also have blended names. Oric's sisters also fell victim to their parents' creativity.

In the beginning, Mina did not understand why more than half the time she spent meeting with Mrs. Lamar was spent on talking about family matters, but it quickly became evident when the woman asked Mina about her marital status.

"Mrs. Lamar, I am a very good friends with Willow West, and if I'm not mistaken-"

"You know Willow?" Mrs. Lamar cut Mina off.

"We were very close in university, but I haven't seen her since she went abroad," Mina admitted. Mrs. Lamar looked elated.

"That is perfect," the woman said. "Mina I have an especially important job for you to do. Forget about the meeting, what I need you to do is more important and I'll pay you double if you succeed." Mina was intrigued, but she did not readily agree. The last time she did that, she ended up locked behind a bookshelf.

----

By the time Mina returned home she was exhausted, but it was not the same kind of exhaustion she felt from being stressed or idle; she was tired in a good way. She was employed by two successful companies, one of the jobs only required photos of her ears or neck, and the other needed her to listen to people talk while pretending to be dumb.

The best part was that although she was on call for both positions, she would still earn a monthly wage. The mental calculations Mina was doing put her at meeting her goal to pay off the remaining debt on her parents' home within six months; assuming her investments did well.

Mina had only just sat down when Jessica received a call. Apparently, there was some sort of emergency that required Mina's presence immediately. When Jessica told Mina where she was needed, Mina wanted to decline, but once she mentioned Jay, and it gave Mina the push she needed.

----

Mina arrived at the film set but saw nothing that needed her attention, in fact Jay and director Porter looked surprised to see her. The pair had been busy with a scene involving the two leads, but it did not appear as though there was any issue that needed Mina. Unfortunately, the peace was short lived.

Cylus and Olivia came running onto the film set, wondering what injury was so serious that it required them to drop everything but not a hospital. Cylus came running up to Mina, checking her for visible marks.

"They told me you were hurt," he said, and Mina felt her blood run cold, not because of Cylus' words, but because of the men walking toward them.

"Olivia," said Zane, he stopped next to the girl and leaned on her shoulders.

"Why did you tell me Mina was hurt?" Olivia shouted.

"Because she was hurt, just not today." Olivia glared at Zane.

"President Lee, what is the meaning of this?" Cylus asked. He was annoyed that his emotions had been toyed with, and by the look on Mina's face she was just as confused as he was. President Lee did not bother to answer Cylus who had still been inspecting Mina when he arrived, instead he addressed director Porter.

"Get your people together, and I mean everyone." Director Porter wasted no time and within a few Minutes his entire cast and crew was standing around the new arrivals. Mina could not help but to feel a sense of dread.

"President Lee, what's going on?" Mina started to ask, but Zane held his finger to his lips and Mina closed her mouth.
