Chapter 303: Anders

A timer went off on Jay's device and she moved to exit Dom's car. Before she left, she thanked the man, who had not uttered a word since her arrival.

Jay made her way to Karen, who needed to get back into costume and have her makeup retouched. The women quickly made their way into a changing room, and Jay was sure to knock before entering. Once she was confident that the room was empty, she got to work.

Satisfied, Jay sent Karen back out onto the set, but she did not follow, she stayed behind to properly place the items she had originally been carrying. Someone had put them on the rack, and she could tell just by looking, that something was missing.

Jay only hoped it was not a piece that needed to be returned. She did not make much and had only taken the job because of the potential for growth.

Finished with cataloging and hiding the items she wanted to try on the female lead, Jay made her way to Mina who was using someone's phone. Mina was so engrossed in whatever she was doing that she did not hear Jay sneaking up on her.

Wanting to use the opportunity to lift her spirits, Jay shouted Mina's name and the woman jumped with a shriek. Jay was laughing hysterically when Mina started to chase her. She fled to safety by heading straight for where filming was being done, and they had to be quiet.

Karen was still preparing for her scenes by reviewing her lines when the women arrived. In between takes, Jay touched up Karen's hair and make-up, which was not her usual position. There had been many changes to the crew after the incident with Karen's original manager, and not enough suitable replacements had been hired, so Jay filled in where she could.

"Jay, what's with you today?" Mr. Eric asked his daughter. "You seem off. Karen's hair is all over the place." With her father's words, Jay straightened up and quickly corrected her mistake by replacing the pins she had put into the woman's bun in a more secure arrangement.

"Sorry dad," Jay said as she made her way back toward her father. He smiled at his daughter, who smiled back.

Matthew watched Jay intently, he was trying to get a read on the woman, but there was no change he could see. Other than the small issue with Karen's bun, there was nothing to indicate she was hurt or angry; he was confused, but relieved.

Although Jay was not Matthew's girlfriend, they had been exploring one another behind closed doors. He was worried the earlier incident would affect their work relationship, but so far, Jay was professional. Matthew had already lost his reliable staff, and he was not eager to start looking for yet another replacement.

Dom walked into the studio and quietly waved to Mina, who then indicated to her boss that she needed to leave early. For whatever reason, she had been summoned to the Lee building, and because Mina knew she had done much she should not have, she was sure she had earned herself a second strike.

Mina told herself that she would argue for it to be her first strike, since the slap given to her by Mary, should not have been counted. It could have happened to anyone in the same situation.

On the way to the Lee building, traffic was terrible, and Mina and Dom had been sitting in the same spot for what felt like forever. There were more cars on the road because Thanking Day was fast approaching. Many people were preparing for the holiday, and the season to follow.

Near where Dom's car was idle, a parking spot became available and Mina suggested for the pair to park and walk the remaining distance. It was no more than a five-minute walk away; three if they walked briskly.

Once outside of the vehicle, Mina and Dom started to make their way toward the entrance to the Lee building. The pair chatted about Mina's holiday plans; but because she was without her family, she had not bothered to make any.

As Mina neared the entrance, Miss Lisa strode out. Mina tried to hide behind Dom, but she had been seen and the woman wasted no time in approaching.

"Mina, can I talk to you for a moment?" Lisa asked. She sounded sincere, but Mina was suspicious. "I want to talk to you about something personal, please. We can just step a few yards away," Lisa added. Looking to Dom, Mina nodded and followed Lisa until she felt they had gone far enough.

"Is everything okay?" Mina asked.

"No Mina, it is not okay," the woman said dejectedly. "What did you do to Ian? He does not even look at me anymore. Can you please just let him go?"

"Miss Lisa, I really don't have anything to do with President Lee," Mina replied. She felt sorry for the proud woman, who now looked broken in front of her.

----

Luna arrived at the Lee building and saw Dom standing, unmoving, in front of the entrance. Her driver let her out of the vehicle, and she made her way up to the man. She had not planned to say anything to Dom, but the closer she got, the more she wanted to speak.

After a less than polite greeting, Luna asked Dom to brief her on Mina's situation. Since the charity event she had not been able to see the girl or even get close to the Lee mansion.

"I'm sorry Miss Luna, but the matter is classified," Dom stated.

"Classified? I am the only daughter of the Lee family's main line. What do you mean classified?"

"Yes miss, you are the only daughter of the Lee family, but President Lee has instructed me to remind you that you spell your surname as A - n - d - e - r - s." Luna wanted to hit Dom, but she knew he was only repeating what her brother had ordered him to.

"Tell my brother that he may be the president of our father's company, but he is not the patriarch of our household," Luna snarled. She wanted her words to be impactful, but Dom seemed distracted. He tried to push her, but she planted her feet firmly slowing the man down.

Dom released a flurry of curses and pulled his service weapon. Luna finally realized that he was watching someone. She turned around in time to see something terrifying.

----

Mina felt nothing but pity for Lisa, who stood accusing her of being the reason President Lee was seeing other people. The woman went on and on, almost begging Mina to disappear. She clearly did not know how badly Mina wanted to grant her request.

Not wanting to appear uncaring, Mina looked at Lisa, but she had tuned the woman out. She noticed that traffic had begun to move freely again. Her attention was drawn to a particular van that looked to be driving too close to the curb.

Mina assumed the driver was looking for an address, but as the van approached, the doors flew open and four men jumped out of the vehicle. Mina tried to run, but she was caught. Both Mina and Lisa were thrown into the van and Mina could see Dom running toward her trying to get a clear shot, but he was too far away to make it in time. Mina heard the screeching of tires as the van sped away, with her still inside.
