Chapter 473: Heartbroken?

It had been years, Paul had moved on, with Miss Maggie of all people, and Mina's mind was going back to relive memories that she had not been attentive enough to interpret as they occurred. Even the fact that Paul's parents did not want him to associate with her made more sense, and Mina felt her heart starting to clench. A stray tear escaped her eye, and Mills wiped it away.

"Heartbroken?" Mills asked the word as a question. Mina told her about Paul, and the woman scooted closer to rub her back. "I had a Paul once, and like you I kept asking myself why I didn't see it. Later we reconnected, and I realized that all the memories I had been reliving were only sweet because everything else around me was bad." Mina shook her head.

"But at least you reconnected. Paul is engaged." Mills frowned.

"Then take it as a lesson learned. I heard CEO Zane say that there are many men who like you. How do you know there isn't another 'Paul' among them?" Mills was referring to President Lee, but Mina was thinking about someone else.

"So, you are saying I should be more open to opportunity?" Mills nodded vigorously because she believed she and Mina were on the same page.

"Let's start with this trip. Maybe there is an opportunity abroad."

----

Instead of his usual car, President Lee had an SUV waiting for them. They did not pack, and Mills explained that the arrangements had already been made, and that she had Drax's permission to go shopping as soon as the plane touched down. Mina smiled, wondering if she would ever get to be as lucky as Mills. The woman had found a man who, although from a different world, had looked past all her flaws. He did not just ignore them either, she could tell that everything people could find wrong with Mills were the same things that Drax loved about the woman.

"Why are you staring at us?" Drax asked, and Mina, being on autopilot, answered freely.

"I'm wondering if I will ever have what you two have."

"Nope," Drax said, pulling Mills in closer to him. "Mills is mine alone." Mina snorted because she knew the man was once again accusing her, even though he had not said it.

"Drax," Mills whined in her native tongue. "No being jealous of women."

"Are you saying I should be jealous of men?"

"Absolutely." Mina laughed, and President Lee nudged her foot with his.

"How do you know what they are saying?" He asked, and Mina flicked her eyes to the window.

"I don't, I'm just putting my own dialogue to their body language." Ian chuckled in disbelief.

"Care to share the storyline?"

"Sure," Mina said, sitting up straight. "Drax pulled Mills in and kissed her, saying that he couldn't wait to have children with her. Mills said his name affectionately and Drax asked her what they would name them. I laughed because I mixed the names Drax and Mills in my mind and I came up with the name 'Drill.' Happy?" Mina asked with a sour face. She mumbled something under her breath and Ian smiled. She was such a good liar it was becoming hard for him to spot it.

"You're lying."

"Doesn't surprise me that you would think that." Ian narrowed his eyes at the back of Mina's head, he asked her to look at him, but she refused.

Sensing that the mood in the car was about to plummet, Mills and Drax spun their seats, so that they were no longer facing Mina and President Lee but facing straight ahead, making Mina feel uncomfortable and alone. She questioned if the gun he had handed her would end up being used in a crime with her fingerprints on it. She also wondered if he were trying to have her shot by one of his men who could have stumbled upon the scene and opened fire without question. All Mina knew was that she disliked President Lee and the games he continued to play despite saying that he would stop.

While looking out the window, Mina felt the man tap her shoulder, and she was grossed out to see that he had scooted closer to her. She pressed herself against the door as tightly as possible and she threw back her elbow a few times to let the man know he was too close.

"I have already told you, if I do something you do not like; you can tell me and I will stop, but I am not a mind reader. I know I pissed you off, but you have to tell me what I did wrong, because I am almost positive this attitude has nothing to do with you wanting a gun." Mina made an annoyed noise before turning to look at President Lee. She had to pull her face back, because he was leaning in to talk to her at a whisper, and she did not feel comfortable with their proximity.

"You said that you were the one who saved me from that Antonio Sylvan guy, but Cylus had already told me it was him. I get that you may not have meant for things to go that far, but don't ever try to make me feel indebted to you by lying to me." Mina could see President Lee's face turn pensive. She could also see him struggle to hold back his anger, and she was almost positive that he was speaking in a whisper because he wanted to keep their conversation private.

"Call him," he finally said. "Call him and ask him exactly what he did to save you." Mina scoffed because she knew she had the truth. She called Cylus, but once again, Vanya answered the phone. She told Mina that Cylus was showering, and Mina reminded the woman to have him call her, this time a little annoyed. Seeing the confused expression on President Lee's face, Mina briefly explained who Vanya was. Instead of responding, he pulled out his own phone and called the man himself.

"CEO Rue, I have Mina here with me, and she would like to confirm something with you." Mina could hear Cylus shouting something, but President Lee ignored him, and handed her the phone.

"Cylus, stop shouting. I am fine, okay? I have just been busy, but that is not why I called." Cylus was still fuming on the phone, telling her that he had been trying to reach her for days and was about to file a police report. "You don't have to do that. I will return shortly. I just have an important question to ask you." Mina recited the question and Cylus confirmed his answer going into detail about his conversation with Mr. Sylvan. Ian, who was close enough to hear Cylus' response, was unperturbed.

"Ask him if he speaks Scleva," he suggested and Cylus denied knowing the language, which made Mina's brows furrow.

"Then how did you speak to him?" She asked, now realizing that something was wrong.

"He speaks Panglish well. Broken; but easy enough to understand." Mina looked over to President Lee who wore a neutral expression.

"Cylus, what time did you speak to him?" She asked, feeling sick with not knowing who to believe, because it was starting to seem that both men were telling the truth.

"It was just before noon." Mina looked at President Lee, who smiled before taking his phone back from her.

"Thanks for the information," President Lee said into the receiver. "Also, your girlfriend forwarded Mina's calls to her device." President Lee did not give Cylus a chance to respond before he ended the call, looking at Mina with a satisfied expression. "Anything you want to say?" He asked and Mina nodded glumly.

"Yes. I want to say that I- I-" Mina paused while looking down and picking at her fingers. "I still find you to be a jerk."
