Listening to Mina tell him all her favorite memories of them together brought tears to Ian's eyes. He knew that she was saying goodbye, and he felt powerless to stop it. She laid in their bed, staring up at the ceiling as she affectionately rubbed at her tummy, laughing at her own recollection of events as she pressed for him to retell the same stories with how things were from his perspective. She told him that she grew up listening to her parents talk to Sadie about how they met, and she claimed that the best part of hearing each parent speak was how differently they viewed the same situations.

"Isn't it strange?" Mina inhaled deeply; she had been experiencing practice contractions, so she knew she was not in labor yet, but she also knew that her time was coming, and it was earlier than expected.
