The next morning I took the same path to school along with Jack, Rose, and Annabelle. "So, Anna, how was your first day at our school," Rose said, turning her head.
"Um, I guess it was nice," she responded with a smile, "Although, I was overjoyed when Kaori was showing me around the school."
"Did he make a move on you," asked Jack.
"No, I did not," I told him.
"Yeah, he didn't do anything," Annabelle confirmed.
"Well, Kaori here hasn't had a girlfriend in high school so far," Jack added.
"Neither have you," I refuted.
"Don't change the subject," he said, making eye contact with me, "and plus, my younger sister doesn't want me to have one."
"Don't you think your sister has a little *complex*," Rose interrupted.
"Don't talk about my sister like that," he shot back, "she's perfectly normal, and aren't siblings meant to get along."
"No," Rose corrected, "That's rare, if not impossible. The fact that you two get along so much," she paused, looking away, "it's weird."
"Anyway," Jack said, redirecting the conversation, "You know that high school won't last forever, you'll regret it if you don't do anything."
"Don't you think you should worry about yourself," I said, somewhat annoyed.
"He is kinda right," Annabelle suggested. "You do have to go after what you want, or you'll start to regret that you did nothing."
"Not you too," I said in disappointment, "and since when did you all become buddies.
"Today, I guess," Jack happily responded, "but seriously, I know of at least 2 girls in our grade that like you."
"Y-yeah," Annabelle said somewhat irritated by the idea, "You could always give them a shot."
"Uh, are you okay?" I asked her.
"I'm great," she responded with a bright smile.
"You kinda stuttered there, but anyway, I won't be getting one until Jack gets one."
"As I said not happening, my sister would get angry."
"Then won't you regret not doing anything," argued Rose.
"Don't use my own words against me."
After our conversation, we arrived at school and got to our homeroom class. Time seemed to fly through the day until it came to our elective period. Walking through the front door, I noticed a student from another class already painting. Although his face was being covered by the frame of the canvas. I walked around to see what he looked like and to view what he was painting.
"Hi, my name is King, King Price," He nervously said, noticing me and turned to face me, "and I'm the president of the Art Club." He was a bit shorter than me with straight brown hair, peachy skin, and green eyes.
His name sounded familiar like I heard it before, "Hey, were you in my homeroom class last year," I asked.
"Yes, I was, didn't think you would remember."
"How could I forget a name like King," I said, giving a smile.
"Yo, What's up," Eric said, walking through the door with Jack and Rose, "Oh look its King." He walked over to us, "So, I suppose you're the prez',"
"Yes, I am," he responded, "I'll give you all instructions once everyone's here."
"Cool," Eric shot back, "I need to talk to Kaori for a bit." He pulled me to the side and began to talk about how his Algebra 2 class had a comprehension test in a week and wanted me to help him study over the weekend. After we finished our conversation, everyone had arrived in the club room, with Annabelle being the last one to enter because she got lost on her way here.
"Great now that we're all here let's do our introductions, My name is King, and I'm a senior."
Next up was Jessica, "Hello my name Jessica, I'm also a senior." Looks like she decided to join after all.
After was a redhead girl with black eyes, "Hello, my name is Linda and a 4th year."
"Hi, I'm Lukas," followed up a short, straight blonde-haired boy with ocean blue eyes, "and I'm a freshman."
Next was a black-haired girl with red eyes, "Alright, I go by Isabella," she said confidently, "and I'm a Junior." I also noticed that just like Eric, she adds to her uniform, but unlike Eric, who has chains at his sides, she had a small colorful star pin on the right side of her chest, and her left sleeve was entirely pink, contrasting with her light blue uniform.
"I'm Olivia," said the Hazel eyed, silver-haired girl, dressed in a dark blue uniform next to Isabella, "also a Junior."
"My names Ace," followed up a boy with white hair and galaxy purple eyes, "I'm a 2nd year."
"I guess I'm next," answered a short, brown-haired, Satin gray-eyed girl, "my name's Etta, also a 2nd year." The rest of us introduced ourself's to the club, and King continued on with our first instructions. First, we had to think about what we would want to draw. He showed us where he stored the school computers, so we could look up the idea that we felt like drawing. After thinking for 5 minutes, I decided to attempt to draw Accelerator from "A Certain Scientific Accelerator" falling to the ground. Once I had my idea in mind, I grabbed a canvas, paint, and paintbrushes.
"Don't get the paint on your clothes, "King said as I grabbed the paintbrushes, "It's impossible to get off."
"Thank's for the advice," I replied. When I finished setting up, I noticed that others had already begun drawing, but I also noticed that Jack and Eric seemed to have some trouble coming up with an idea to paint. I didn't feel like bothering them, so I began to draw what I had in mind. After concentrating for the whole club period, I was able to get the outline of Accelerator's back facing the ground with the wind pushing his white hair up, covering his eyes, and I was also able to draw some buildings in the background. I went to mask my painting when I heard King say in surprise, "Wow, this is really well done, Anna, have you taken art classes before."
"Kinda," she replied nervously, "It's more like a hobby I've been practicing over the years." I walked over to see what he was talking about. The painting wasn't finished, but the level of detail depicted was something you'd see Bob Ross paint. The main content was of a forest, and an outline of what seemed to be a cabin with two people standing outside, possibly a couple. "It's not complete," she continued, "I kinda want everyone to see it only when it's finished," She then grabbed a paint cloth and covered her to be masterpiece then turned to me, "So what did you think of."
"I thought it was okay," I said, emotionless.
"Didn't know I was dealing with a Stoic," she replied sarcastically, "can I see yours."
"Yeah," I answered, walking over to my uncovered painting, "mine also isn't done, but I'll finish it soon."
"Accelerator from 'A Certain Magical Index,'" she said, examining the character, "Didn't know you were a weeb."
"I'm not, I just like the character. And how did you know the character's name," I questioned.
"But now that I think about," she interrupted, ignoring my question, "your name would make sense if you watched anime. I mean, you look like a normal American, but have the name of a Japanese woman," she finished shrugging her shoulders in confusion. Before I could respond, Isabella snuck up behind me, grabbing me shoulder, looking over it, on her tippy toes, and at my painting.
"That's not too bad," she said, turning to smile at me, "I tried to draw Albedo from Overlord, but I just can't get her proportions right."
"Do you usually sneak up on people," I replied somewhat jokingly.
"Oh, sorry, I catch people off guard because my footsteps are so silent," she gave a nervous giggle, "but come see my painting." She pulled my arm, starting to guide me towards her painting when Olivia spoke out, nervously saying.
"Isa, can you show him when you finished it, I wanna go home already."
"Aww," she cried out in disappointment, "maybe next time kay." She let go of my arm, covered her painting, and walked over to the exit with Olivia. "See you tomorrow," she said, waving her hand in the air. I responded with a smile and got back to Annabelle.
"I didn't get to ask you," I said, "but what do you think of my art?"
"Something I'd consider a waste of time," she responded, turning her head away from me, "you should throw it away."
I got a bit serious and put my hand on her right shoulder, to which she reacted by making herself smaller. Her reaction was unexpected, but I continued by saying, "Look just because your good at something doesn't mean you get to start trash talking other people's work, especially mine." She continued to look away from me, and I was going to tell her to look at me until King interrupted saying,
"Yo, I'm planning on closing the clu-"
"Hold it," Shot Annabelle, turning to us with her face showing a light pink, "Let Kaori and I close the clubroom for you."
"Are you sure?"
Yeah, I'll teach Kaori what he's doing wrong, and Jack, Rose, feel free to go home without us we'll be here for a while," she finished, giving Rose a thumbs up.
Rose blushed, turning away as she said, "Come on, Jack, let's go home."
"A-alright," he nervously responded, scratching the back of his head, "but no funny business." With the rest of the student heading home, King handed me the keys and told me to clean up any supplies I used.
"Alright," Annabelle said in excitement, "Let's get started."
"Says the one who blushed when they got put in their place."
"Oh," she seductively expressed, "and what will you do with that information."
"Say that it's weird." She ignored my comment and began to point out the flaws in my panting, helping me fix them in the process. While we were only in there for 30 minutes, the flow of time felt as though it was slowed down drastically, making it last for what felt like 2 hours. "Man, now *this* is truly a masterpiece," I shouted in excitement.
"See, there were things that you were missing," Annabelle cheerfully replied, "but with my magic touch, we got it to shine brighter than the sun." With the way we were talking, you'd be rightfully confused if you'd found out that we only just met yesterday. Although, even though I've known her for just 2 days, it feels like we've been best friends since I was little. Yeah, right, I've only had friends in high school, I'm thinking too hard about this.
"That fixing got me thirsty," I said.
"How about I get us something for the vending machine in the cafeteria," she offered.
"Sure, surprise me," I told as I started to clean up the supplies we used.
"I will," she confidently replied, walking off towards the cafeteria. When Annabelle reached the vending machine, she chose a Sprite and a Coke, then moved over to a stairwell, making sure no one was able to see her. After confirming no one was around, she set both cans on the ground, opening up the Sprite and reached into her pocket, pulling out a substance and sprinkled it in the soda only to then reseal it as if it had never been opened. Done with her preparation, she hastily picked both the cans up and headed back to the club room. When she arrived, I was just about done cleaning up.
"Here you go," she said, pressing a cold Sprite can against my back.
"Thanks," I replied, grabbing the can, "I didn't think you would get me a Sprite."
"Do you not like them?"
"It's not that it's just the cans can't compare to the stuff they have at McDonald's," I laughed as I opened the Sprite giving off a nice sizzle and drank it down.
"Oh, I thought you might not like it," She said, opening up her can, "Well, if you're done, let's walk home together."
"We live in the same area?"
"Yeah, Rose walked my home yesterday."
"Alright." We got our stuff and closed the clubroom, returning the keys in the process, and started walking back home. It was silent for the most part, I couldn't think of anything interesting to say, it felt l was running in circles just trying to talk about something.
"Hey," Annabelle said, breaking the silence, "Since you like anime, why not come over to my place, we can watch some there."
"Thanks," I regretfully said, "but I prefer to watch it alone." I couldn't believe I just turned down an invitation from a girl, I thought, this is probably the luckiest I've been ever, but why would she trust me enough to go into her home.
"If you're worried about my parents, don't be," she reassured me, "they'll be out of town for a while."
"And what makes you think I wouldn't do anything to you while they're gone?"
"Intuition," she shot back, "and the fact that you lack the confidence to even make the first move."
"That's not what I meant-"
"So is it a yes or a no," she interrupted, pushing me back and forth.
I caved in and said, "fine let me call my dad," I pulled out my cellphone and began to dial him.
"Hello," he said, picking up.
"Hey, Dad, is it okay if I go over to a friend's house."
"Who is this friend?"
"Oh, it's the new girl from school that joined this year," I told him.
"Oh, I see," He paused, "you know what to do." I think he got the wrong idea, I thought.
"He gave me the go-ahead," I told Annabelle.
"Great," she replied, smiling. I told my dad goodbye and hung up the phone. When I entered her home, I took off my shoes and was told to wait on the living room couch. After a minute or two, Annabelle came out from the Kitchen with snacks she had on a tray, "I had these around, so I thought you might want some," she shyly said, setting down it on the coffee table in the middle of the room. "I was thinking about watching Hunter X Hunter, how does that sound."
"Sounds good," I said sluggishly. I felt as though I could fall asleep if I wasn't moving, and that feeling grew more and more with every second that passed by. Annabelle went to turn on the TV, and my eyelids continues to get heavier and heavier.
"Hey, I feel kinda-" I went to say, but before I knew it, I was knocked out on her living room couch.
"Already?" Annabelle questioned, sitting next to my unconscious body, "That was quicker than I expected." She moved her head, resting it on my chest. "Now where is it," she said, shuffling through the shows, "Oh, here it is," she delightfully continued, "I hope you enjoy and don't get mad at me, you're the one who wanted to be surprised Kaori, or should I say, Joseph.
