Chapter 12

Three Months Later

Y/N's POV

My mom wanted to stay with me, but she had her own responsibilities at home she couldn't ignore. I had Emma and some movers get my things from Scarlett's and went on to do things I wanted to do for a change. I started writing again since I was an avid writer back in Grad School.

"Y/N, five minutes til showtime." a producer tells me.

"Alright, I'm ready," I tell.

I walk out to the set and sit down on the couch as Jimmy Kimmel gets his mic worked on.

"Alright, Ms. Y/L/N, here's your mic." one set designer tells.

I nod to them as they hook my mic up.

"So are you nervous?" Jimmy asks.

"No."

"It's alright if you are. Being on a good tv show and seeing my gorgeous face can be nerve-wracking," he says.

I tried not to giggle at the notion of him being scary and shake my head.

"I've done a lot of tv shows and movie gigs. I think I'll be okay." I tell.

He nods at my determination as a producer calls for quiet on set. He counts down and we start.

"Hello everyone and thank you for joining me in another episode of the Jimmy Kimmel show, with yours truly. We have a special guest with us tonight. Please welcome, Y/N Y/L/N." Jimmy says.

Everyone in the audience cheers as the camera pans to me and I smile.

"Y/N, thank you for coming on," Jimmy says.

"Thank you for having me, Jimmy," I tell.

"Now you have been the leading lady in Martin Ivy's films of Spy Love, Traitor and Thieves, and Lord of the Dawn. How do you feel about making it big after only starting out in commercials?" Jimmy asks.

"I was grateful to be able to audition for the part of Spy Love and how much the fans loved the film as a whole. When Martin asked if I was able to audition for other parts, I immediately jumped at the chance to show my talent wasn't wasted." I tell.

"I like that answer. So, besides the fact that your staring in Emmy nominated films, you've also written a book," he says.

"I have written a book. It is on New York's Top Best Seller in young adults." I tell.

"That's right folks, "How to Date a Celebrity", has made #2 in the Young Adult category. Why don't you tell us a little bit about the writing process." he asks.

"It's not like how you think it might be. There's no how-to guide of gaining the attention of your celebrity crush. Even I don't know how to do that. It's about a young woman making her way into Hollywood, dodging paparazzi, and doing everything she can to make it big. She eventually finds love in a well-known celebrity she's had a crush on since she first sees them." I tell.

"Ooh, spicy!! Is there anything in your book that you took out of your own life, or is this pure fiction?" he asks.

"There may be some of my perspectives here and there. You'll just have to read it to find out." I tell, winking.

"You've heard it here folks. "How to Date a Celebrity" is out now to buy and everyone in the audience will be able to take home their own signed copy of the book. We'll be right back after this commercial with a little game of Wheels of Impressions." he tells.

Once the producers signal that we are on a commercial, Jimmy loosens his tie and little and signals for some water. One of the stagehands brings two bottles of water for both of us and we take a long drink.

"Y/N, you're doing beautifully on camera. Just a little make-up touch and you'll be good." my make-up artist tells.

"Do what you need to Janet," I tell.

She touches up my make-up and we go on with the show.

Scarlett's POV

I was sitting on my bed, watching Y/N's interview on my tv while Rose sleeps on my lap. I sigh as she talks about everything in her life so far. I look at the door as it opens and reveals Jeremy coming in.

"Hey. How are you holding up?" Jer asks.

"I feel like I lost her again," I tell.

"Come on. The girls are here to talk to you," he tells.

I nod to him and gently place Rose on the bed. We end up going downstairs to the den, where Megan and Mila were sitting there and sipping some water.

"What are you all doing here?" I ask.

"We're here to help you and Y/N get back together," Mila tells.

"She's never going to talk to me. Besides, I don't even know if she moved on or not." I tell.

"Have you seen her with anyone besides her friends, manager, or one of us?" Megan asks.

"No, but-" I say.

"No buts!! I'm sick of both of you being miserable because you didn't want to talk to each other!! It's exhausting passing messages to each of you like in middle school." Mila complains.

"I know and I'm sorry," I tell.

"I'm still wondering why this one woman is making you bend over backward for her. You could get anyone you want. Why her?" Megan asks.

"There's no one else like her. She made me feel better than when I was with Hailee. I want her more than anything else." I tell.

"Then why didn't you fight with your managers?" Mila asks.

"Yeah. You've been in the light longer than anyone, you wouldn't have any kind of backlash with the public." Megan tells.

"Her managers are douchebags that will take anything to get publicity. They don't care about what Scarlett wants." Jer tells.

"I know, but I don't know anyone else that's willing to have me," I tell.

"I'll talk with my managers. They've been looking for talent to teach some of the newcomers they handle. I'll see if they have any spots." Mila tells, pulling out her phone.

She sends a couple of texts and receives a call.

"Hello. Yes, she's interested. She'll be perfect for the job. She's raising her daughter solely, so I know she loves children. Alright, we'll see you tomorrow." Mila tells.

She hangs up on them and smiles at me.

"Tomorrow morning at 11:30. You'll meet with my manager, Susan." Mila tells.

"Thank you. Now I need to get Y/N back." I tell.

"That's what we're here for. Now let's brainstorm." Megan tells.

We spent the whole night planning to win Y/N heart.

Y/N's POV

Once I was done promoting my book and upcoming movie gigs, I was on my way to Emma's house since Jessica wanted a girl's night. The car pulls up in Emma's driveway and I get out but not without saying thank you to the driver. I walk up to Emma's door, with Jessica already standing in the doorway waiting for me.

"Hey, Jess. How are you?" I ask, hugging her.

"I'm doing alright. Come on. Emma's getting us some drinks." Jess tells.

She leads me into the den, taking my coat to hang up. Emma comes in from the kitchen and hands me a cocktail. She hands Jess one as she comes back in and we start gossiping.

"Okay, small talk aside, how are you feeling and I mean really feeling?" Jess asks.

"It....could be better," I tell.

"You and I both know that you still love Scarlett. What's holding you back from forgiving her and making up?" Jess asks.

"She said she knew what her manager had planned for us being a publicity stunt. She didn't have the guts to tell me about it and I would have gotten Emma on board with it to save face." I tell.

"It was messed up that she hid it, but I don't think that her manager would have stopped even if I got involved. Some managers are just looking for the next best thing and rolling with it." Emma tells.

"Look, I got out of there when I should have. Did I wish that Scarlett told me? Yes. Did I want to leave her? No. I love Scarlett, but I just don't want to be used and thrown away again." I tell.

"I get that. I really do, but Scarlett, even though she did know that this was all happening, didn't take any part in the whole publicity stunt." Jess tells.

"She hid the fact that there were tabloids about us on the news, in the paper, and on social media." I counter.

"You would have retaliated on the picture of the both of you in questioning positions and the beef that Hailee Steinfeld started. That and I had to go into interference on most of it because some of the paparazzi jackasses photoshopping your picture and Hailee's like you were fighting in public." Emma tells.

"Can't I be angry at someone without my friends giving me logical reasons?" I ask.

"That's what we're here for. Kicking your ass in gear when you don't want to hear it." Jess tells.

We laugh at that and I shake my head.

"Still, everyone knows that I'm single as of now. I've been asked for publicity relationships, dates, and "coffee gigs". Even Elizabeth Olsen wants to talk about doing "something" together." I tell.

"I wouldn't mind sliding into her DM's," Jess says, taking a sip of her champagne.

"Jess!!" I say.

"Oh, don't play. If you weren't so caught up on Scarlett you would be in her DM's too." Jess tells.

"I would not!! Yes, she's a beautiful woman, but I don't like her like that." I tell.

"Oh, by the way, your mom wanted me to give you something before she left, but I forgot about it," Emma tells.

She goes out of the room and I roll my eyes at her.

"Always forgetting something." Jes and I say in unison.

We giggle at that as Emma comes back with a box. She hands it to me and sits beside Jess. I open it and see somethings that I couldn't remember from. I started looking through it all and saw some pictures. Pictures of Scarlett. The last photo wasn't of Scarlett, but some girl with an upper back tattoo. I immediately rub my upper back, trying to think about why this was familiar.

"...I took these pictures, didn't I?" I ask.

"You did. All except the last one. Scarlett took that one," Emma says.

"No. This has to be some kind of sick joke." I say.

"It's not, Y/N. It's not." Emma tells.

She sits beside me and holds me as I try to process everything and try to deny it all. It takes me an hour to process it all and I go back to looking through the whole thing.

"When were these taken?" I ask.

"Some of those pictures date back to 2005," Jess tells.

"Is.....is Rose mine?" I ask, my eyes tearing up.

"Yes."

I sob at that as I go through picture after picture in the box.

"Why can't I remember? Why can't I remember any of this?!?!?" I ask.

"Right after you were discharged from the hospital, you both were going back to your New York home, when a drunk driver hit the side of your car. Specifically your side of the car." Emma tells.

"You were put into a coma for years. You didn't wake up until three years later but didn't recognize your daughter or your own wife. The doctors diagnosed it as retrograde amnesia, the brain not being able to remember past events or familiar information. All you remembered was that you met me through your dad and you were going to Hollywood." Emma tells.

"Scarlett was devastated but vowed that she would find you again. She paid a lot of money for everyone not to say anything. She didn't want you to be scared off by things you couldn't remember." Jess tells.

"So the memories of my father," I say.

"It's not real. We had to make sure you didn't relapse even further, so we had to make some of the things you said realistic." Emma tells.

"So everything that happened with Kat was fake?" I ask.

"No, that was absolutely real. Kat is just an insane celebrity that wanted you for herself." Jess tells.

I get to the bottom of the box, where there are a letter and a photo. I pick up the letter and start reading it.

'Dear my darling wife,

If you are reading this letter, then Emma has finally given you the box. I know this is confusing, but trust me when I say this is all real. This box shows every waking moment that we had together. Even our wedding day. I hope every day that I spend with you will help regain any and every memory that you can remember. If not, I will wait till everything comes back to you. Even when we grow old, I will still be here waiting for you. I love you, mi piedra preciosa.

Tu estrella brillante, Scarlett.'

I look at the picture and just stared.

I didn't notice, but I started laughing at the photo.

"Oh my god, Scarlett hated wearing that dress. Her tuxedo was still at the dry cleaners, so she had to get the dress last minute. She was so angry when Jeremy and I started snickering " I giggle.

I turn to look at Emma and Jess and they were shocked.

"What?" I ask.

Emma comes over and kneels in front of me.

"Y/N, what happened in the summer of 2005?" she asks.

"Umm. Scarlett and I had invited all of our friends to a bonfire on our private beach. We made it a party and almost everyone came out." I tell.

"What is Jessica to me?" she asks.

"Emma, she's your wife. Why are you asking these ridiculous questions? It's like when you kept asking if I was okay when I was...when I was pregnant." I say.

It dawned on me when I started answering questions left and right that things were different. Emma and Jessica were smiling at me as they noticed my attitude had changed.

"Oh my god, I remember. Oh my god, I remember!!!!" I yell.

I jump up and squeal with Jessica and hug Emma.

"Oh my god, I can't believe that I forgot everything. I can't believe that Scarlett paid millions to keep everyone quiet." I say.

"She didn't want you to run away because of everyone telling you different things," Emma tells.

"We should tell Scarlett that you remember," Jess tells.

Before I could say anything, my phone vibrates and I pull it out. I see it's Jer calling so I answer it.

"Hello," I say.

"Hey Y/N," Scarlett says.

"Scarlett," I say.

"Please don't hang up. I just want to make everything right between us. Could we please meet up somewhere to talk? You can choose the place." she asks.

I think for a minute and smiled a little at where I wanted to go.

"Meet me at Santa Monica Pier tomorrow at 2. We have a lot to discuss." I tell.

"Tomorrow at 2. I'll be there," she tells.

"Buenas noches mi estrella brillante." I say.

I hang up before she could say anything else and smile at Emma and Jessica.

"Why didn't you tell her that you remember everything?" Jessica asks.

"Better to show and tell in person Jessica," I tell.

"Good. Now that's all well and done, let's get this girl's night started." Jessica tells, walking to the kitchen for another drink.

Emma and I shake our head at her but follow her into the kitchen.
