Sha Tin city is my city, I am born here as I am growing this city is also growing parallel to me. This was a traditional one when I was a kid, now it is transformed into a metro city.
Once the streets in the city were noisy, now they are replaced by the quiet humming of bicycles, we find lush greenery all over the city where there is no concrete.
Sha Tin is Hong Kong's most populous district, home to several thousands of people, but it still retains the flavor of the countryside, with historic walled villages, lush hills, and a string of green spaces along the Shing Mun River.
Sha Tin have every resource a human need for the livelihood, it has Railways, Roadways, Airway, and Waterways.
Right now I am on the roadway to reach my home from my school admiring the beauty of my city and thinking of the attachment I have with my city.
"Fang….. Fang….. Wait for me" I hear my friend Rooni calling, she rushed to me saying "I.... am….. Shouttting.. Since loooooong, around….. Which planet yooooou arrrrrrre...… revolving not hearing me at… all?"
"What wrong happened now everything is good right?" I replied to her holding her and making her calm down, she is breathing asynchronously by the running she did to reach me.
"Hmmm... Ya, everything issss fine" how did you write your exam? She asked walking with me at a slow pace.
"Hmmm.... As usual good" I replied
"Then what are you going to do in these mid-term holidays?"
"Hmmm I am planning to go for Calligraphy classes," I said while walking into the street where our houses are.
Rooni is not only my friend at school, but she is also my neighbor and my best friend since I am 3.
My father and her father are business partners and my mama and her mama are best friends.
"Then I will join you for the class, do inform me about the timings," she asked halting in front of her house.
"We will discuss this when we meet in the evening at the tennis class" I replied and moved towards my house.
I opened the big gate of my house which is double my height. Entered my house climbed the stairs to the right of the entrance door and landed on my bed like a tired, lazy cat. In no time I slipped into a deep sleep.
"Fang. . . Fang wake up, why you are sleeping at this time of the day, if your granny knows about this she will chop us like a fish, hurry up, she is waiting for you downstairs." I woke up by my mama's nonstop blabbering.
"I am awake long ago now will you stop your screams Mama, if I become deaf because of your shouting, nobody will marry me, I am telling you this.
"I am not sleeping at evening 5 to pass the time as a lazy kid. I am very tired after studying for week-long examinations. Please mama show some mercy on me" I shut the door with a thud and descended the stairs to reach my granny.
"Mrs. Ling Suksai my Granny, my baba's mother is a strong woman of 66 years, she is orthodox by nature, and she always teaches us discipline. She always has lines of command on the tip of the tongue, do that? Do this? Don't do, you should be like this, like that blah... Blah... Blah… I will turn17 in a month but she still teaches me how to sit? How to drink tea? And the worst is she still teaches me How to walk?
My Mama and Baba are 40 years and 42 years in age but they are still very scared of her." I am thinking about my granny all the way before reaching her.
"Yes, granny why did you call me," I asked settling on the chair facing her in an odd way.
"First sit properly," she said warning me showing her finger.
I sat properly and looked at her fiercely while she is not even glancing at me.
"Are you finished with your exams?" she asked sipping tea.
"Ya granny, done," I said with a fake smile.
"Mmmm. . . What do you want to do these holidays?
"I. . . . I …. Want to learn Calligraphy" I said hesitantly. She nodded as if agreeing for my bid.
"Let me know about the timings and schedule," she said and I nodded in yes
"And I will let you learn Calligraphy when you learn to make Flower Garlands every evening from me." She said like an order
"What is that? And what am I going to do with that" I asked in a shock
"Did you forget that our origin is from Thailand, their girls should know how to make flower garlands it's our tradition, and I know that your mother knows that, I want you to learn. Coming to the point of what to do by learning, everything we learn should not have a purpose but some time or other they will help us in fulfilling important purposes" she preached me a life lesson.
I too like the point, and decided to give it a try and accepted to her obligation.
This day of my life ended in a routine way, like every day. Evening 6 tennis class, then dinner and finally sleep, Sleeping is the most beautiful work I like to do. I love sleeping, sleeping for hours and hours and hours . . . . .
"Right now I am on my bed staring at the radiant stars which designed on exclusively for my bedroom ceiling. The sapphire blue sky and sparkling silver stars they make me feel like I am not alone in this beautiful world of infinite shining stars and they make me feel I am going to be the real star shining in this Titan Universe"
"When my thoughts are vague, I snuggled up more into my sheets. The warmth of the sheets and the darkness in my room made the hormone Melatonin to release and instructed my body, it's time to sleep."
