Approximately one hour after collapsing Rei came to. "My head feels like jelly." Indeed like Ryujin Jakka stated having that much information coursed through his brain caused him to faint. Thinking now Rei had tons of incantations and words he had never known existed in his head.
"This is insane." Standing up Rei dusted himself off as he scoured his mind. Hundreds of different spells and abilities swirled in his brain. 'Some of these are definitely equal to S-Rank Jutsu.' Speaking to Ryujin Jakka, Rei asked a question in curiosity. "So who created all of these different spells?"
"The creation of Kido has been a mystery for millennia predating even my previous master." Receiving an answer to his question Rei thought to himself for a moment. "Well I guess not knowing anything about won't change anything." With all of his questions, Rei could definitely sit with Ryujin Jakka hours asking all sorts of questions but the training did take priority.
Using the remaining light of the day Rei began training to use Kido efficiently while also learning to control his Reiryoku. Starting off he tried one that seemed simple enough. Facing a tree a couple of meters away Rei held up two fingers with his eyes closed. "Lord Of Thunder God Of Storms empower thee with thine wrath. Strike the sinners of which I point and send them to repent. Hado #4: Byakurai!" Pointing the two of his fingers at the tree Rei had a serious look on his face.
However, as a couple of seconds passed with nothing happening realized how dumb he must look. "Why didn't it work?" Knowing he said the incantation correctly Rei tried again. Standing in the same place as last time with two fingers held up in front of him Rei began the chant.
"Lord Of Thunder, God Of Storms empower thee with thine wrath. Strike the sinners of which I point and send them to repent. Hado #4: Byakurai!"
Aiming at the tree in front of him once again Rei did actually get a reaction but not the one he hoped for. A light amount of electricity traveled up Rei's arm to his fingers but did not go any further than that. "I guess knowing the Incantation isn't enough. But this does prove that these spells do work." Speaking out loud Rei heard Ryujin Jakka speak to him. "Did you doubt me?"
Rei chuckled, scratching the back of his head. "Oh no! It's just that the idea of magic was a little foreign. I mean in school we were taught about Jutsu and Chakra so I was a little skeptical of this Reiryoku." Prattling on for a moment Rei brought his attention back to training. Though nothing happened the first time the second time he did get a reaction. "Alright, let's try this again."
For the rest of the day, Rei's voice echoed through the forest multiple times. "Hado #4: Byakurai!"
"Byakurai!"
"Byakurai!"
"Byakurai!"
Rei continued this action for over three hours until finally, he reached a result. After so many attempts at this Rei had gotten a feel for manipulating his Reiryoku to a certain degree. Speaking out the entire incantation once more the electricity being generated around his fingers was a lot more condensed and apparent.
"Hado #4: Byakurai!"
As the electricity gathered to his fingers shot forward the entire area around Rei glowed a bright blue. The force from the launch almost caused Rei to fall back as the blast of lightning traveled forward at a very fast pace. Hitting the tree's bark tons of wood chips flew in every direction.
Finally, the Hado spell ended cutting off its flow from Rei's body. Looking ahead while panting heavily Rei saw that the spell had almost completely pierced through the wood. Leaving a smoking hole in the wood Rei's eyes shined. "Yes!" Running up to the tree he observed the damage more closely.
'Ryujin Jakka said the power of Kido is based on your Reiryoku. Meaning if I keep training like this I may be able to pierce through a boulder.' It was only after his excitement died down however that he noticed he felt a bit drained. "I would advise you to take a break so your Reiryoku can recover. Currently, your body is still adapting to producing Spiritual Energy naturally."
Rei understood what Ryujin Jaka meant. Using too much Spiritual Energy could slow the process of turning his body into one of a Shinigami. "Alright, I'll be more careful from now on." Looking up at the sky Rei saw there was still daylight so he decided to make use of this time. Spending a couple of minutes setting up temporary training targets such as large rocks.
Drawing Ryujin Jakka from its sheath, Rei focused his attention on one of the boulders he had moved into the large empty space. 'Be precise and without flaw.' Waiting for only a brief second Rei enhanced his upper body using Chakra Enhancement to increase his speed.
"Nadegiri."
In a blink of an eye, Rei had already returned to sheathing Ryujin Jakka as the boulder in front of him cracked in half. "It still feels so off like something is missing." Feeling confused by this feeling Rei couldn't figure out what he was missing. "The technique you used was originally created by the Shinigami so it's natural it would feel incomplete."
"What? I thought the founders of my Clan made the Zanjutsu techniques." Listening to Ryujin Jakka tell him one of the most basic techniques of their clan was created by Shinigami, Rei was confused. However, that confusion was cleared up as Ryujin Jakka began to explain.
"Most Zanjutsu techniques were made with the idea of Shinigami techniques being used to enhance their potency. However, your ancestors didn't have Reiryoku so they confused Spiritual Energy with Chakra and used it as a substitute for generations to come. The Nadegiri is supposed to be used alongside Flash Step, a technique used for enhancing speed."
Contemplating the explanation Rei finally understood why he felt their Clan techniques were always so weird to use. Of course, a technique would feel weird when you're using something foreign to replace the original. 'Well in any case at least I know that now.' Stretching his arms and legs Rei noticed the sun was starting to set and it was getting dark.
'Well I'm not going to find a nice place to sleep out here might as well make due.' Walking up to a nearby tree Rei jumped from the ground up into the air. Grabbing a tree branch he pulled himself up and made himself comfortable leaning against the tree's stump. Thinking over everything that had happened today Rei could tell he still had so much more to learn.
'Well, tomorrow is a new day…'
