Hearing such a request Rei stayed silent for a moment. "I originally thought about it and decided against it. But after all of this… There's no way I'm leaving him alive." Rei 's voice carried a tone of certainty and Ino seemed to relax after hearing it. "Good, do you mind if I stay here with Fuyumi for a bit?"
"Sure I need to check on something anyway." Watching Ino sit down in a chair next to the bed Rei stared at her for a moment before leaving the room. After making his way down the hall he stopped and glanced at Ryujin Jakka. Unlike that time from before, Ryujin Jakka was completely silent when it came to Rei.
As he stared at Ryujin Jakka in its sheath his memories flashed back to the moments he lost consciousness. The inaudible word's Ryujin Jakka spoke and the aftermath that caused Munriba who he couldn't even defeat going all out to break. While he didnt want to admit it, Ryujin Jakka was right.
He truly didn't believe there was a level beyond Shikai because it never told him. And at the same time he never aspired to reach any higher heights. Sure he wanted to get stronger but that was simply because it was a necessity. If he was stronger than the Five Nations would cease to be an issue and he could run the Soul Society with no issues.
His life would be peaceful and what reason would he have to reach higher heights after that? He didn't have an aspiration for strength and the drive that was revenge had long since faded after killing Orochimaru. But deep down possibly without his knowledge a seed had been planted. Something in the back of his mind that would eat away at him.
His thoughts would secretly linger on the words Ryujin Jakka said. 'A level beyond Shikai… Kido beyond the 90's? If that's the case what else could there be?' The possibilities could be endless and Rei couldn't resist the thought. Rei spent around twenty minutes in his thoughts simply standing in the hall leaning against the wall.
In that time no one who walked by bothered him and no one went into the medical room Fuyumi and Ino were in. For once in a very long time Rei's mind just wondered and it was only when a message reached him that he woke up from it. "Hmm?" Seeing the glowing orb of light Rei reached out and touched it as a message flowed into his mind.
'Shisui? I told him we were going to meet Kisame tomorrow. Why is he messaging me now? Unless…' Rei's eyes widened a bit. 'Don't tell me we were in that world for over a day? That's not possible though we were only in there for…' Rei felt briefly confused but eventually let it go. Making his way back to the Fuyumi medical room he opened the door.
"Ino we have to-" Rei's words paused as he saw Ino was sitting in her chair with her head down clearly asleep. She was absolutely exhausted after what had happened and if they really were in there for a day then her body probably was as well. Rei watched the light from the outside world fell onto her sleeping face causing it to have a soft glow.
Rei didn't make a sound as he stared at her for a moment. 'Well I guess there's no reason to bring her with me. Best if I just let her rest.' He pulled out a piece of messaging paper and began imparting his orders onto it. 'There's a blonde haired woman in Lieutenant Fuyumi's medical room. Dont disturb her but keep an eye on her and make sure she stays safe.'
With that Shen crushed the paper as it turned into blue light and flew away.
"Alright now to deal with Kisame." The warmth in Rei's eyes turned cold as walked outside of the Medical Barrack's and Flash Stepped away. Deep underground in a sealed section of the Soul Society, only two figures could be seen standing in a fairly dark environment. It was a stone room with only one exit that was also its entrance. Only one source of light was visible and it gave off an orange glow that was extremely dim.
Aside from Shisui and Kisame, only two men stood outside the door leading to that room dressed entirely in outfits that almost seemed to blend in with the shadows around them. They remained still seemingly waiting and showing no expression on their faces. "When Rei told me these rooms existed I think both me and him hoped we would never have to use them."
Shisui was standing in front of a chained-up Kisame. Both his arms and legs were completely immobilized and there were countless Kido spells linked to them keeping him suppressed. "Are you sure you don't want to just tell us what we want to know?" Shisui spoke to Kisame calmly but still, he kept his eyes closed and didn't say a word.
Soon Shisui heard the sound of wind moving behind him as he turned and spotted Rei. He was already staring at Kisame with a cold expression and Shisui didn't bother to say anything. "Has he spoken?" Rei asked this despite knowing the answer as Shisui shook his head. "Good cause I needed to take my anger out on someone."
Rei's ability to stay level headed was one thing but if there was something he knew for a fact about himself it was that his anger and grudges never dissipated. It was also the reason he would remember favors done towards him. However Itachi had touched a string in Rei and Kisame was the one person who could both lead them to him and was also the only obstacle.
With one swift move the sound of a blunt hit rang through the room as Rei kicked Kisame across the face. Blood flew from Kisame's mouth and splattered onto the nearby floor and wall as he coughed slightly. Rei glared at Kisame who continued to keep his eyes closed before raising one of his hands.
A single finger pointed toward's the chain holding up Kisame's right arm. "Byakurai." Blue electricity crackled through the room before firing and flying into the chain. Immediately the electricity spread and made contact with Kisame's body. "Agh!" The pain was overwhelming and Kisame felt his entire body spasm.
Foam began to escape Kisame's mouth as Rei didn't let up and increased the power of the Hado gradually. "Raagh!" Another loud scream echoed through the room as the chains holding Kisame in place shuddered. Finally Rei stopped as KIsame's body fell limp and his heavy breathing was the only noise recognizable.
Reaching out his hand Rei grabbed Kisame by the air and lifted his head. Finally Kisame's eyes were open although a little cloudy. Staring at him Rei spoke with an unyielding emotion in his voice. "I know you must think this is a joke right? That I am going to try and torture the information out of you through pain alone?"
A small smile appeared on Rei's face as he pointed towards Kisame's body. "Did you notice the wound's on your body have healed?" Rei's words seemed to trigger movement from the other side of the door leading into the room. Slowly the two figures who were patiently waiting outside walked in and stood by Rei's side.
Pointing to the man standing on the far right Rei spoke. "This person here is your benefactor. He's the one who healed you, in fact he's extremely good at it." Switching over he pointed to the other. "And he… Well he's very well versed with Kido that inflicts the most pain." Rei's words seemed to fill in the gaps in Kisame's head as his gaze changed slightly.
Rei let go of Kisame's hair allowing his head to fall back down and stood up. "Remaining stone silent not revealing any information on your comrades is honorable, though it won't last. I'm in no rush so we can all stay in this room together and see how far your will can take you. Though in all honesty I hope this lasts longer than a few days."
The temperature in that stone room seemed to drop multiple degrees. Even the unmoving faces of the two men and Shisui had hints of fear radiating in their eyes. "Begin." Rei's voice rang through the room followed by a few seconds of silence. But soon that silence was broken as Kisame's screams echoed out.
Far from that place full of screams however a young man's eyes seemed to practically be shining as a light entered them. This young man was Ren and currently he was in his study however compared to the last time Rei visited it had drastically changed. All the books and papers were now organized and all sorts of tools and devices were spread out on a large table in the center of the room.
"It's done… All it needs is Rei to be its host and it will fully stabilize." His words seemed to be dreamy as if he couldn't believe them. "But will he use it? He meets the requirements but his body isn't strong enough. If his soul… Maybe it'll be best if I utilize it for something simple first to prove its effectiveness."
Slowly the light illuminating the room disappeared as he spoke again. "Well I'm sure an opportunity will present itself. Until then I just have to make sure no one else gets injured or worse." With that Ren made his way out of his study and disappeared while walking down the hall.
…
"Is this real?" In The Hidden Leaf Village Tsunade was almost lying back in her chair limply as she didnt take a second glance at the report on her desk. Most of the Anbu she had sent to Ino had died and only two had returned with Ino seemingly being taken by Rei. The report the two Anbu gave was from their honest personal experience.
Along with that it also went into how the multiple battles progressed. The report even mentioned Zabuza. "He really did it. Everything sounds ridiculous but…" Tsunade sat up and slammed her fist against her desk which caused it to cave in and break. The sound immediately alerted Shizune who ran into the office and stared at Tsunade in shock.
"My Lady, what's wrong?" Tsuande didn't answer her as she took a deep breath and began giving Shizune order's. "Buff the security perimeter around Rei's location in any way we can. I don't want a fly getting in or out of that area without me knowing about it! Also full rework the security plan we had prepared for when we head to the Kage Summit."
Shizune didn't know what had triggered Tsuande like this but she immediately nodded and moved to the side. "Yes right away." Tsunade walked out of the office without looking back as she disappeared from Shizune's sight. Slowly Shizune made her way over to the shattered desk and took notice of the last page of a report.
Picking it up she read through it briefly until her eyes landed on the final part. A message left by Rei specifically for Tsunade. Shizune felt her entire body go cold as she turned around and ran out the office.
