One for The Team

Mara walked towards me in the airport. I had waited by luggage knowing she would sense me soon. There are reasons we avoid eachother other than getting along like oil and water. We make eachother very uncomfortable. It is like walking around with your finger plugged into an electric socket. It was bound to make anyone bitchy. Mara glared at me hostility her go to emotion in cases like this.

"Make yourself useful and get a bag." She huffed gesturing to the very large pile around her. I had antique this and waved a porter I had wrangled into my service forward. Mara looked at me anger growing a bit less severe. I know she really couldn't help it, but God I hated her. We just had to get through the next few nights and we could go our separate ways.

"So tell me about the guy we are targeting." She said walking next to me the porter trailing behind to struggle with the heavy luggage.

"Well he is in his late twenties. He is a former party boy turned into half partner for his uncle's company. He is the son Sloan didn't have in his actual son. He still slips up sometimes, DUI that got swept under the rug, few drug charges, even accusations of murder and rape." I said leading the way to my new car. A BMW x5 classy, but plenty of room for Mara's zillion bags. Mara nodded approvingly at the car then slid in. I tipped the very exhausted porter, and slid in as well.

"You need to tempt him with potential business. If you just go for your usual ham fisted plans he will smell the trap, and scamper off before you can even spring it. No, you need to seduce him first with greed. The fact his uncle just lost God knows how many millions in your little trick will make him more willing. I think we should offer him a buy out make it seem too good to be true, then back out a bit like we are thinking about it. When he tries to contact us again we invite him to a nice formal meet the neighborhood sort of thing." Mara said even taking out what looked like formal documents of some kind. I knew nothing of business, but Mara had been a money grabbing bitch since the dawn of time. I liked our odds.
