A Date?

The week went on uneventfully, and soon Saturday arrived and Taehyung put on his best clothes for this meeting that he was summoned to. His parents had not explained the reason for this meeting, but they told him everything would be explained to him once he arrived. His mind had formulated several possible reasons, the least favorable being anything to do with his future bond partner.

The council was made up of a member from each creature class to help with making decisions to best handle in their society. Their president would consult them in every decision before any laws were to be passed. Fairies were often head members of the council to help keep order and peace during deliberations.

Taehyung's mother was the current head of the council as the job was passed down through his family for several generations since the council had been started. After his birthday he would begin training to take over the position when the time comes for his mother to step down.

He didn't feel ready to begin the process, but the training would take several years and in that time he would discover the ability that presents itself during the 21st birthday of all the faries in his family.

Jungkook: jimin?

Jimin: yeah kook what's up?

Jungkook: I need some help with something....

Jimin: ok....what?

Jungkook: I want to do something nice for Taehyung but I'm not sure what.

Jimin: I'm sorry....WHAT????!!!! You want to do something for tae?

Jungkook: uh yes, why are you freaking out?

Jimin: I'm just surprised, I thought you were the ice prince. You know you don't care about feelings or people or any of that stuff.

Jungkook: well that seems kind of harsh, but I guess I can see why people would think that.

Jimin: can I ask why all of a sudden you want to do something for Tae?

Jungkook: well he has been pretty nice to me and I was thinking maybe I should thank him some how.

Jimin: ok but why now? You didn't seem too interested in him before. I mean I didn't think you really cared about this sort of thing. I actually thought he kind of bothered you.

Jungkook: I thought it would be hard dealing with him in the beginning, but idk he can be clingy and I don't seem to mind.

Jimin: that's actually kind of sweet in a way, cause I would be too scared to touch you with a 10 foot pole. Sometimes the faces you make look down right scary.

Jungkook: really?

Jimin: it even made Yoongi shiver once and he is an Alpha!

Jungkook: huh? Really? I mean I don't mean to, it's just like my face.

Jimin: lol!!! Yeah, but what I mean is Taehyung isn't like us. He doesn't seem as effected by your odd behavior.

Jungkook: ok, the insults don't help with me being in a more kind mood.

Jimin: lol! Ok ok sorry! Anyway, if you want to do something nice for Taehyung it doesn't have to big or flashy. The simpler the better, it's the little things that make him really happy.

Jungkook: ok but what little things?

Jimin: uh! You are seriously so- whatever! Ok he loves classic films, I'll send you a list of movies. Now you guys have that big projector, so decorate the dorm a little with twinkling lights and have all his favorite snacks and watch all his favorite old films! He will die from happiness!!

Jungkook: this kind of sounds like a date...

Jimin:.... so?....

Jungkook: well, I mean I don't want him to get the wrong idea...

Jimin: sheesh Jungkook seriously why did you want to do something nice for Taehyung if you don't even like him?

Jungkook: I mean it's not that I don't like him, but my kind don't date.

Jimin: but I thought you were all trying to change your instincts and break tradition and all that?

Jungkook: I mean yeah, but it doesn't mean that I am like ready to date.

Jimin: you are making my head hurt I swear to God! Look, Taehyung obviously likes you, and if you do something nice for him it may make him like you more. So if you are not ready to even try with him then maybe keep your gift simple. Like treat him to lunch or something.

Jungkook: uh!!! Idk what to do. Ok like I have never had feelings for anyone, we don't do feelings. We mate and we break up, and that's it. There are no feelings at all! I have never dated and I am not at the age yet to mate, so I honestly have no idea what it would feel like if I did like someone. I mean Taehyung is great, one of the best people I have ever met, but I don't want to hurt him by not being able to show him affection in return. I don't want him to hope for something that may never happen between us.

Jimin:...it sounds to me like you care a lot about him. Which means you do have feelings toward him even if it's just friendship, but you do care. Which you said was not possible, but you care. Doesn't that just prove that you do have some sort of feelings even if they are small. Look I don't want Taehyung to get hurt, but also we faries are like super loyal. Once we find the person we love, we stay with them forever. And if Taehyung is having those feelings toward you, even slightly you need to be clear with him sooner than later.

Jungkook: I know...I just don't know anything about this. What if I screw up?

Jimin: relationships take work, and you guys are a unique pair for sure! But this world is changing, and if we want it to be better we have to start and keep changing things. I mean look at me and Yoongi! Yoongi shouldn't have feelings for me! He is an alpha wolf, he should be looking for a mate of his own kind. And yet here we are going on our 3rs date!

Jungkook: wait what?! You and Yoongi hyung????

Jimin: *sigh* you must be blind as well, cause everyone saw how we liked each other.

Jungkook: again with the insults!!! Ok, I don't notice other people. I don't pay attention to them, I focus on what I need to do and that's it.

Jimin: what did Tae pick to wear to his meeting today?

Jungkook: uh that's random but he was wearing a blue suit with a white shirt and no tie. Why?

Jimin: did he say when he would be back?

Jungkook: late, he was going to bring desert after and wanted to watch a movie. But why are you asking???

Jimin: you don't notice other people, but you notice Taehyung. You know things about him because you listen to him and observe him. You may think you don't care about people but you do care about him and that means something.

Jungkook: oh...yeah I guess that's true....I mean I didn't realize I was paying attention to those things.

Jimin: so think about it again, do you think maybe you like Taehyung?

Jungkook: maybe...I want to say for sure yes but like I said I don't really know.

Jimin: I can tell you that if you notice little things about some one that you don't notice with others, and you want to do something to make that person happy....you like them! So why not tell Taehyung what you have been feeling and see what he thinks?

Jungkook: uhhhhh....idk.....

Jimin: just be honest with him Kook, he will listen and I am sure he will be very understanding!

Jungkook: ok I will, and I better go and try to find some lights....

Jimin: I have everything you need with me, just go to the store and get the snacks, I'll do the decorating! Trust me he is going to be so happy!

Jungkook: ok ok thanks jimin!!! I'll go now!

TAEHYUNG'S POV

Taehyung had no idea why his parents wanted to meet with him on a Saturday for, but he arrived home a few minutes early and waited for his parents in their living room.

"Taehyung! You are early!" Mrs. Kim said walking in with Taehyung's father following.

"Oh mom, hi! Yeah I am a little early but I wasn't waiting long." Taehyung said giving his parents a respectful bow before hugging his mom.

"Well, let's sit now and have some tea first. We have a few things to discuss." His mom said sitting next to her husband on the couch across from Taehyung.

"What do you need to talk to me about?" Taehyung asked a little worried.

"Well your birthday is coming very soon and you know that it's a special one. You will discover your special ability, but also it will be the time we need to find you your bond partner." She tells him smiling.

"Already? I am still pretty young to be bonded don't you think?" He asks.

"Not at all! It's pretty common actually to be bonded on the 21st birthday. It was common for our family to bond with non-faries except me and your father, but we feel it is best if you should continue the tradition." She said calmly.

"I see. Do you have someone in mind?" Taehyung asked hesitating.

"At this time we are considering several possible courters. However, it is only fair that you should select a person as well." His mother said.

Taehyung thought for a moment. He knew that suggesting Jungkook may not be a good idea no matter how much he wished he could. Jungkook would never agree to the process of possibly being bonded with Taehyung. He had told Taehyung that his kind don't do relationships or mating or anything like that.

Taehyung really did like Jungkook, but seeing as they would probably not be anything more than friends he didn't feel right offering his roommate as an option.

"I may know someone but I think I want to discuss with them first before saying for sure that they will be a candidate." Taehyung answered.

"Very well, let me know in a few days ok? We want to get everything finalized and ready before your ceremony. Now tell me how school is going!" His mother said.

Taehyung had spent several hours with his parents and thankfully it wasn't too late yet, and he had enough time to grab desert before going back to the dorm. His mom offered a car to take him back, and he was happy to accept it instead of riding the bus.

The car dropped him off at the corner store across front the University. He ran inside and grabbed a couple flavors of ice cream before heading back to his dorm.

"Jungkookie? Why is it so dark? I thought you said you would wait for me to watch a movie! Uh where is that light switch?!" Taehyung said annoyed.

Taehyung felt along the wall trying to find the light switch and once he did he switched it, but instead of the usual lamp lighting up there were tiny lights lighting the whole room. Taehyung turned and saw how the room had been decorated and couldn't help but smile. Jungkook was not there though, but the door opened and he walked in carrying several bags of food.

"Oh Tae! Your back!" Jungkook said setting the bags down.

"Jungkookie what is all this?" Taehyung asked still in shock.

"I wanted to do something nice as a thank you for being so nice to me since we became roommates." Jungkook said.

He didn't realize how much effort Jimin was going to put in to the decorations but it was really nice. Jungkook turned to look at Taehyung trying to gauge his emotions at that moment, but all he saw was that Taehyung looked like he was about to cry.

"Oh God, you hate it don't you?" Jungkook asked cursing himself in his head. "I'll just take it down it was a dumb idea."

Jungkook walked toward the wall ready to rip the lights down.

"What? No Jungkookie don't take it down! I-i love it!" Taehyung said grabbing Jungkook's arm.

"What? Then why are you crying?" Jungkook asked confused.

"I'm crying because it's beautiful!" Taehyung said smiling.

"Oh. Thank God, I was scared I did something wrong." Jungkook said letting out a sigh of relief.

"This is amazing!!! Did you pick a special movie as well?" Taehyung asked.

"Several classic films actually." Jungkook said.

"Really? Well let's do this movie night then!" Taehyung said sitting down on his bed facing the projector screen.

Jungkook loaded the first movie in and brought all the snacks over as well. He sat down on his own bed getting comfortable. The movie credits started and Jungkook thought for a moment. 'If this is supposed to be a date, should we sit this far apart?' He thought about it a bit more, and although he had never been on a date, that it made sense to get closer.

"Tae?" He began.

"Hm?"

"Why don't you come sit next to me." Jungkook said.

Taehyung felt a flutter in his stomach. Jungkook had never asked him to sit with him before, usually Taehyung would just go for it on his own. So he hesitated.

"Are you sure?" Taehyung asked cautiously.

"Well if this is a date shouldn't we sit together?" Jungkook asked.

Taehyung choked on a chip, coughing and reaching for his coke. Leaving Jungkook a little confused and concerned.

"Are you ok?" Jungkook asked.

"Yes-yes fine. But what do you mean date?" Taehyung asked.

"Well, I think this is what a date is supposed to look like right? Special decorations, food, and your favorite movies! Or is this wrong?" Jungkook asked.

'oh my gosh he is so cute!' Taehyung thought.

"You set up this as a date for us?" Taehyung asked almost cooing at how confused Jungkook looked.

"I thought it was." Jungkook replied looking a little disappointed.

"Aw, of course it can be a date Jungkookie! I was just confused, I thought you said you don't date." Taehyung said.

"Yeah I have never been on one, and yeah we don't really do dates. But I wanted to try at least once, with you." Jungkook said almost pouting.

Taehyung watched the boy and was so confused by this Jungkook. Where was the quiet reserved Jungkook?

"If you are ok with me sitting with you, I will!" Taehyung replied.

Jungkook nodded moving over to make room for Taehyung to sit beside him. Taehyung walked over taking the seat Jungkook had made for him. Jungkook even grabbed a small blanket and set it over Taehyung, because he knew how easily Taehyung get a cold at night.

Taehyung was speechless, he felt like he had entered a parallel universe. The thing is, it seemed natural for Jungkook. Everything he was doing in these few moments didn't seem planned or awkward, but genuine. Once Jungkook was satisfied that Taehyung looked comfortable enough they settled and turned their attention to the movie.

"Laura! One of the good ones!" Taehyung said happily.

"Is this one of the ones with the singing?" Jungkook asked.

Taehyung let out a little laugh. "No it's actually a murder mystery! Not everyone has heard of it, but it's actually a really good choice Jungkookie! Nice work!" Taehyung said praising the other.

Jungkook smiled softly at the compliment, he felt happy that Taehyung was enjoying the date. The watched several minutes of the movie before Jungkook spoke up again.

"So what else do people do on dates?" Jungkook asked.

Taehyung looked up at Jungkook and smirked a little.

"Well, it depends on how comfortable two people feel with each other. Sometimes they hold hands or...well...kiss if they are super brave!" Taehyung said shyly.

Jungkook thought for a minute.

"Ok, so should we hold hands then?" Jungkook asked.

So foward.

"Yeah sure! That would be nice!" Taehyung replied.

Jungkook hesitated not really sure the most comfortable way to hold hands with Taehyung. So Taehyung took the others hands and softly pulled his fingers apart and placed his hand on top weaving their fingers together. He looked up at Jungkook and smiled.

"Like this, ok?" Taehyung said softly.

Jungkook nodded and felt Taehyung rest his head on his shoulder. Jungkook wasn't sure if he was doing this date thing right, but Taehyung seemed really happy. So Jungkook laid his head on top of Taehyung's as they watched the rest of the movie.

The light from the sunrise was peaking through the window and hit Jungkook right in the eye. He reached up using his hand to block the light and was about to stand to close the curtain when he felt his other hand trapped and a weight leaning on him. He looks down and sees Taehyung still laying on him, their hands still together. They must have fallen asleep before the movie had ended.

Jungkook debated what to do, he didn't want to wake Taehyung but he also wanted to run out and get breakfast for them. So he slowly opened his hand losening the grip of Taehyung's hand as well. With his other hand he stabilized Taehyung's head slowly laying him down. Once he was free and able to stand, he covered Taehyung with the blanket and went to the bathroom to get ready.

He tried his best not to make too much noise and soon he was out the door. He runs into Jimin on his way out.

"Jungkook!" Jimin yelled.

"Shhhhh!" Jungkook shushed him. "Tae is still asleep can you not wake him?!"

Jimin looked a little annoyed but his face softened after Jungkook explained why he shushed him.

"How did it go? Did he like the surprise?" Jimin whispered.

Jungkook nodded.

"I knew it! I told you he would love it! So did you guys talk?" Jimin asked.

"We fell asleep watching the movie, so we didn't get a chance to. I'll try and talk to him when he wakes up." Jungkook replied. "I'm going to get breakfast!"

"Ok! If he wakes up I'll let him know!" Jimin said letting Jungkook leave.

Jimin quietly opened the door to Jungkook and Taehyung's dorm room trying not to wake Taehyung. He saw Taehyung sleeping on Jungkook's bed and decided to cuddle him before he woke up. Taehyung cuddled closer when he felt arms around him, and smiled.

"Morning!" He said.

"Morning Taetae!" Jimin said giggling.

"Aye jimine! What are you doing here?! Where did Jungkook go?" Tae said giving Jimin a jab to the ribs.

"He went to get food, so I am here to protect you until your strong Amarok returns!" Jimin said sarcastically.

"Shut up!" Taehyung pouted cuddling Jimin back.

"So what did you think of all this?" Jimin asked.

"It was so sweet, I didn't think Jungkook was capable of all this!" Taehyung said smiling.

"Well, I helped too!" Jimin said offended.

Taehyung giggled. "I had a feeling."

"But he was a lost puppy, he wanted to do something special but didn't know what. So he helped a little I guess." Jimin admitted.

Taehyung just laughed.

"I wonder what made him want to do all this though! He hasn't ever given me any sign that he may want to go on dates with me." Taehyung said a little confused.

"I don't know what got into him, but even though this is all strange to him he wants to try and learn." Jimin said.

"That's really cute and sweet, but I don't know if we should go on other dates." Taehyung said feeling a little sad.

"What? Why?!" Jimin asked surprised. "I thought you really liked him!"

"I do but I met with my parents yesterday. At the ceremony they want me to pick someone to bond with. They said they have a few people already picked out." Taehyung explained.

"So why can't you tell them you like Jungkook?" Jimin asked.

"They said I have to pick someone to pretty much be bonded with forever, you know how it is for us. We have one partner and that's it. And Jungkook has no plans to be bound to one person for the rest of his life. All his instincts tell him to run away from that kind of thing." Taehyung said sadly.

"Maybe you should ask him." Jimin replied.

"My birthday is only a couple of weeks away! We haven't known each other very long and we have only had one date! How could I ask him to consider it? He has plans Jimin, things he wants to do with his life. I just can't ask so much from him no matter how I feel about him. You were right, I fell hard quick and now look at where I am." Taehyung said hiding his face in the blanket.

He didn't realize that Jungkook had walked in trying to stay quiet not to wake him up and heard most of what he and Jimin were talking about. Jimin looked up when he heard the lock click softly, giving Jungkook a concerned look. Jungkook was not sure what made him speak up and say it, but there was no going back once the words left his mouth.

"I'll do it." He said.
