The Bonding

Jungkook and Taehyung arrived at the Kim's house and were taken to separate rooms for their individual medical exams. Jungkook had not had such an extensive exam before. The drew several vials of blood and gave him a full physical. Physically he was very healthy and strong not unusual for his kind. Amaroks were very well built in height and body strength, and Jungkook was no exception. The doctor sent the vials of blood away to be tested for any illness but also for a better break down of Jungkook's Amarok DNA sequence. There was so little known about their DNA and to be sure that there is no immediate danger for Jungkook to bond with Taehyung they wanted to examine his DNA further. The tests would take several hours so Jungkook was free to rest.

Taehyung too seemed very healthy even after the ordeal he went through as his power was being revealed. He was to meet with the elder, to demonstrate his gift before it is revealed before the council. The elder was impressed by his gift and told him it would prove quite useful as Council Head. He was told not reveal his gift until he is presented before the council, not even to Jungkook or his parents. He was advised to not use his gift before that time either, whoops! He had been testing his gift on an unsuspecting Amarok since the day before, but he wasn't about to tell the elder that. He was told that he and Jungkook had to remain separated until the bonding ceremony the next day, which resulted in a pouty fairy.

Jungkook and Taehyung had been inseparable for weeks now, and Taehyung had grown accustomed to cuddling with the cute boy on most days. So, he was already having some separation anxiety and now he learned that he wouldn't be able to see Jungkook at all until the next day. The thought crossed his mind to use his gift to make his way and visit the other even for a couple of minutes but decided in the end that maybe a little time apart was ok. Although he took out his phone right away when he was alone to text the other.

(Text Messsage)

Taehyung: Jungkookie?....Jungkoooooookie????...Hello?

Jungkook: yes?

Taehyung: I miss you! :(

Jungkook: We have only been apart for 2 hours Tae

Taehyung: I know, but they said we wont be able to see each other until tomorrow, so 2 hours is stretching into 12!!!

Jungkook: I think it would go by faster if you don't think about it. Try to distract yourself.

Taehyung: That's why I'm texting you genious!

Jungkook:….rude….

Taehyung; LoL! I'm kidding!

Taehyung: Jungkook?

Taehyung: COME BACK!!!! Don't you dare leave me on 'read'!!!!

Jungkook: I don't think I feel like talking to you. This is the first time in weeks I have some peace and quiet, so please let me be.

Taehyung: I can't believe you! Are you saying I annoy you?!

Jungkook: well….

Taehyung: WHAT?! How could you?! I can't believe the boy I love thinks I am annoying!

Jungkook: ….the boy you what????

Taehyung: Uh ahahahaahaaaaa….what? oh uh I said nothing!

Jungkook: You said 'the boy you love'!

Tahyung: WHAT?! No…no I didn't….

Jungkook: We are literally texting and I can see the message right here…do I need to send you a screen shot?

Taehyung: oh look at that suddenly I can't read, sorry gtg byyyeeeeeeee!!!

Jungkook: Tae?

Jungkook: Taehyung?

Jungkook: KIM TAEHYUNG GET YOUR BUTT BACK HERE AND EXPLAIN!!!!

Taehyung: ok ok don't yell!

Jungkook: we're texting…

Taehyung: SHUT UP! Ok…yes I love you, ok?! Jerk…

Jungkook: You just said you loved me and called a jerk in one text, not sure what I think about that…

Taehyung: uhhh….so annoying!

Jungkook: You texted me!!!

Taehyung: I regret everything…

Jungkook: hahaha…you love me! :p

Taehyung: Oh My GOD! Shut up!!! This is so embarrassing….

Jungkook: It is very embarrassing for you! Hehehe…but yeah like I may love you too, so I mean whatever.

Taehyung:....

Jungkook: ??? you still alive?

Taehyung: …..

Jungkook: Ok, so clearly you need some time to take all that in, so I'm going to just go and watch a movie! Ttyl!!

Tahyung:….i hate you…

Taehyung was grinning from ear to ear seeing Jungkook telling him he loved him for the first time. He had honestly never expected Jungkook to say it back, not for a long time. He knew Jungkook cared about him the best way he could considering the constant battle Jungkook was fighting against his own instincts. Taehyung figured Jungkook may never say those words, and he was fine with that. He knew how much Jungkook cared by the way he put up with him and took care of him, so he didn't need those words to know what he meant to Jungkook. So, this was the best surprise he could have ever received and all his fears and doubts about the bonding the next day were instantly gone.

That night Taehyung tossed and turned trying to sleep comfortably but couldn't, he missed cuddling a certain wolf and couldn't help but pout about it. He wondered if maybe Jungkook couldn't sleep either but he concluded that Jungkook probably slept better with a fairy clinging to him. He heard his phone ding as a new message came in.

Jungkook: you miss me huh?

'Phantom! How did he know?!' Taehyung thought.

(Text Message)

Taehyung: not at all...

Jungkook: oh, please I can feel you pouting from here!

Taehyung: what happened to that quite reserved Jungkook who ignored me and didn't pick up on social cues? Bring him back please…

Jungkook: ouch, you wound me! I wasn't that bad.

Taehyung: I disagree, but whatever…and I was not missing you so leave me alone.

Jungkook:….so hostile today! Is that how you treat people you love? Hmmm???

Taehyung: GO AWAY PHANTOM I DON'T WANT YOU!

Jungkook: Phantom? Like Phantom of the opera? Are you calling me deformed now?

Taheyung: WHAT?! What are you even talking about?!

Jungkook: That movie you forced me to watch like 10 times, with the mask guy that was creepy and obsessed with the ballerina turned singing star or something. IDK! I found the whole movie weird.

Taehyung: SO many things wrong with that message…first he was a musical genius with a complex past, ok?! Second, he was not creepy he was just socially awkward because he had never really been around people. Kind of like someone else I know! And third, IT IS NOT WEIRD! It's a classic, now go away I'm mad at you.

Jungkook: go away? You're the one missing me.

Taehyung: I DON'T MISS YOU!

Jungkook: if you say sooo….

Taehyung: uhhhhh! You are so frustrating!

Jungkook: But you love me! ;)

Taehyung: I take it back, I only hate you!

Jungkook: If you say sooooo….

Taehyung: STOP SAYING THAT!

Jungkook: STOP YELLING THROUGH TEXT IT HURTS MY EYES!!!!

Taehyung: THEN GO AWAY!!!

Jungkook: THEN GO TO SLEEP AND I'LL GO AWAY!

Taehyung: FINE I WILL!!!!!

Jungkook: GOOD. Also, good night and I love you!

Taehyung: ….Love you too! Now let me sleep, bye!

The messages form Jungkook were enough to make Taehyung finally relax. 'Jerk! How did he know that would work?!' Taehyung thought. He smiled and finally was sleepy enough to drift off easily.

The next morning Taehyung woke to the sound of his mother and several people shuffling around his room.

"Mom, what's going on?" Taehyung asked sleepily.

"Oh good you're awake! So the hairdresser and stylist are here, so get up and eat the breakfast that chief brought because you need to get ready soon!" His mom said snatching his covers away.

Taehyung groaned in protest shivering at the loss of his warm blankets but stayed put not wanting to get up yet. His mom pulled at his arms a few times to get him to sit up.

"Taehyung please! You are not a child anymore, what is this attitude?" His mother said annoyed.

"I don't want to get up, I'm still tired." Taehyung protested escaping his mothers grip and hiding his face in his pillow.

His mother huffed in frustration before taking out her phone and dialing the only person Taehyung would probably listen to.

"Hello? Good morning! Sorry to bother you, but our little Taehyung does not wan to get up and I really need him to cooperate with me. Can you talk to him for a minute so he will stop pouting?" She asked the person on the other line. "Thank you. Here Taehyung, it's for you."

Taehyung looks suspiciously at the phone before taking it from her.

"Hello?" he says.

"Taehyungie? Why wont you get up?" The voice said softly.

"Jungkookie?" Taehyung asked smiling.

"Yeah! Why wont you get up?" Jungkook asked.

"I am still tired, and I don't want to be fussed over right now." Taehyung said giving his mother an annoyed glare.

"But today is a really important day, and we can't see each other unless you get ready." Jungkook said sweetly.

"Uh, ok fine." Taehyung said defeated.

"I'll see you in a couple of hours, ok?" Jungkook said.

"Ok! See you soon!" Taehyung replied smiling shyly.

"Ok stop pouting and get ready! Bye!" Jungkook said hanging up.

Taehyung handed the phone back to his mother.

"That was a low trick mother." Taehyung huffed.

"It had to be done my son, now hurry." She said leaving the room.

Taehyung quickly ate his breakfast and handed himself over to the noonas waiting to get him all dressed up.

Jungkook was equally overwhelmed by the fuss being made over him to prepare for the ceremony. His patience was be tested for sure, but he did his best to keep his cool and not explode on the woman tugging at the hem of his pants. Several times he let out a low growl sending shivers down her spine, and she would pause but soon after return to her work. He had not used that growl in some time, and now it seems to have lost it's effect. This annoyed Jungkook to no end. While he was having his hair done, the doctor from the day before returned with the results of all the DNA tests they had done on Jungkook's blood.

"Good morning Jungkook, I apologize foe being so late with your results, but we had to rerun a few of the tests to be sure of the results." The doctor said taking a seat next to Jungkook.

"Why doctor was there something wrong?" Jungkook asked concerned.

"Not exactly. See it seems that you are not full-blooded Amarok as you had thought. It appears you have inherited alpha wolf traits as well. It seems on your mother's side several members had mated at one time or another with a werewolf omega. As a result, your mother must exhibit omega attributes. Your father was a pure Amarok and mating with your mother some how produced alpha qualities in your DNA. We have never seen anything like this, so it is difficult to understand and harder to explain I'm afraid. We would have to study this further at another time. We are unsure if this will complicate things further during the bonding ritual, but we will monitor you closely." The doctor said patting Jungkook on the shoulder and excusing himself.

This news confused Jungkook, and he didn't know exactly how to feel. However, knowing his mother had omega qualities actually explains a lot. He had figured female Amarok were more emotional because they needed to raise their children in a somewhat loving environment. It turns out she was different after all, and so was he. It explained why Jungkook always felt protective over Taehyung and jealous when he would see Taehyung and Jimin together. His alpha qualities must have saw Taehyung as his mate long before he even realized it.

The doctor's vague knowledge did not help settle Jungkook's nerves about the bonding ritual. There were so many unknowns involved, and his biggest worry was that it could possibly kill him or Taehyung. If it did kill him, Taehyung would not be able to bond with anyone else. He would be alone. Jungkook did not want to leave Taehyung alone and unable to move on.

Before he knew it, he was ready and waiting to be transported to Council Hall. A half hour later he was sitting in a car on his way to the location where the bonding ritual would take place. He was shown inside of Council hall and to a small chamber that looked more like a study. It was full of historical books and artifacts. In the chamber was an older man dressed in a hanbok. He was asked to stand on one side of a small table that stood in front of the man, and they waited for Taehyung to arrive.

A quick background on Bonding:

The bonding ceremony was done by connecting the two person's souls forever bonding them to each other. It was a very delicate procedure and was only performed by one elder. No one else knew how to perform the ceremony, and it was never attempted outside of the council's knowledge. The two being bonded would stand before the elder, and a red thread would be tied to connect them. The elder would chant the words of the spell upon the string to pull the soul energy from each person and pass it through the string where it will connect them. When the connection is complete, the connected soul energy will return to the two people forever connecting them to each other. The thread dissolves into powder that is collected and stored in a special glass bottle that the couple will keep. The essence of the thread glows red if the bond remains strong, and if for any reason the bond between two people were to break the powder would turn a pale white and lose all its glow.

The thread had been tied and the elder spoke the words to enchant it, and the bonding began. Jungkook felt a surge of energy rush through him before he grew weak almost stumbling over. Taehyung also felt his body drain of power when the thread reached for their souls. The thread glowed brightly and what felt like minutes it shone as bright as a star and then a pulse was felt as the combined souls returned to their owner. Jungkook felt the tug of the thread grow weak as it crumbled and released him. He looked up to see Taehyung and was in awe when he saw a glow surrounding him. It was like a cocoon surrounding him releasing beams of light and then it was gone.

The bonding was complete.
