-Jisung's POV-

Jisung peeked in Y/N's direction as he sat down at his new spot at the lunch table. He watched as she talked to his friends and wondered why he was like this. Why he was acting so disconnected from the rest of the world.

Perhaps it was because of his past that he now avoided getting into a relationship out of fear. Or perhaps it was because he was afraid of what could happen to Y/N if they ever did become something more than friends.

*Y/N really is better off with Hyunjin.

He took out his phone and opened his contacts. He searched up her info, hesitating as he saw the name she had saved from one sunny afternoon after school- the day he had confessed: Y/N<3

J: Y/N, this is Jisung. I'm sorry for everything. I'm leaving this school and moving so that you and I won't have to face the consequences. And Y/N. Promise that you will just ask Hyunjin out because he likes you. And forget everything about us. Take care, okay?

His finger hesitated over the send button.

Jisung glanced over at Y/N, thinking about how life would be if he just disappeared–If he wasn't in her life in the first place. If he could go back in time, would he avoid Y/N entirely? When was the last time that she wasn't in danger because of him? He took a deep breath and counted to three.

*One. The convenience store.

*Two. The van.

*Three. The kidnapping.

And pressed send.

Ping.

Y/N looked at her phone. He watched her face as she read the message. Her head slowly turned. Turned toward him. A look of sadness. Regret. Tears.

Then he walked out of the cafeteria.

On his way out the front entrance, he could almost hear her words playing out in his mind:

"Don't pretend that you never loved me."

*I didn't. I would never in a million years.

"Why are you like this?"

*Why am I like this? I ask myself every day.

"I think you were right, Park Jisung. I should stay away from you."

"You're right. You should," he said out loud to the grey sky outside the school building.

-

Her tear-stained face made him want to rip his heart out for being so cruel. For telling her that he liked her when he knew that he couldn't. All he wanted was to see her happy, again.

*Please, Y/N. One more glance. One more smile. One more laugh.

Just one more.

One more.
