Chapter 28

27th December 2019

Victor's POV:

I was sitting and crying on my bed after the fight between my parents this morning. I haven't heard my mom's voice since I heard her scream and then go silent forever. I was waiting for her to come upstairs and knock on my bedroom door, asking me to open it but instead my dad did.

Soon after the fight, my dad banged on my bedroom door asking me to open it. He threatened that he would kill me if he opened the door before I did. I was too scared to open the door so instead, I had called my friend Noel Wilson from the telephone beside my bed, who lived in the house beside ours. I told him everything that happened from the morning and broke into hysterical sobs. He tried to console me saying that he will immediately come here with his parents. I felt relieved after talking to him. Maybe he will come along with my mom and knock on my door. I will open the door by then.

I was silently waiting for him to come and rescue me but instead, a heavy smoke started embracing our house. Confused about what was happening I tried to call my friend again but the telephone wire was cut already by the fire that slowly started spreading into my room from the curtains that hung by the window. I started coughing as the smoke made it impossible to breathe. Tears pooled in my eyes as unbearable heat burned my skin to bright red.

Even in that fire, I was scared to open my bedroom door. So without even a second thought I ran over to the window and jumped out of it...

I jumped out of the couch I was lying on and landed on the carpet on the floor with a loud thud. I howled as I sat up and stuck my head thrice with my left hand before I came to my senses.

I always relived that particular day at least thrice in a week followed by mom's soft voice which told me everything was okay and some bitter memories have to be relived and not be forgotten. She told me they made me strong, they reminded me of how many hurdles I have crossed in my life. After escaping the fire I should have got up and run away somewhere but instead unfortunately my father found me. Living with him was no less than experiencing a hell.

According to my neighborhood.. my mom, Noel, and his parents died in the fire. But after all these years.. when Noel got my address from Vikram.. and when his eyes dawned in realization after seeing the address... that moment was when I found that he was Noel Wilson who lost his parents to the fire caused by my father, that son of a bitch.

He burnt down the whole house to escape for murdering my mother. If I hadn't called Noel that day, the perfect boy who everyone cherished as a student, son, and friend wouldn't have fallen prey to the fire with his parents. But I didn't give a shit. Whoever comes in between Lisa and me will be cleared off the track, because the moment my eyes fell on her I had myself a silent promise to make her mine no matter what is costs.

I thought of the evening when I took Lisa. I was stalking her like I always do and I followed her to the fun mall carefully without her noticing me. But she wasn't like how she was always used to be. That cheer and joy which seemed to have born along with her were missing that day.

I wondered why! That's when I heard my mom's voice in my head telling me that the right time to make her mine has come already. She told me that Lisa and I were made for each other and were mentally connected because of which Lisa had already felt it and is getting ready for me to take her.

When Lisa and Renita were waiting for the bus I had pulled out my car from the parking lot and just moved out of the mall. The watchman who asked me for the parking fee told me that I had been in the mall for almost three hours. I was surprised. It just felt like a few minutes. Watching her for hours melted like minutes always. But not anymore!

Renita moved aside talking to someone leaving Lisa alone. My mom already promised me that she will show me a way. I moved beside Lisa slowing my pace and rolling down the window.

"Hi!", I said as she turned to look at me before I literally saw the spark of delight in her eyes.

"Hey hi!", she said.

"Waiting for a bus? It seems like a busy day, you will be having a rough journey if you take the bus", I said pursing my lips into a thin line.

She made a sad face, "True! But Renita doesn't want to take an auto", she said pointing to her.

"So what? I can drop you guys off", I said as her eyes widened.

"Really?", she asked.

"Yeah, why not? Get inside the car. We will wait until she is done with her call and leave together", I said as she beamed before hopping inside the car, not knowing that the car is going to leave without Renita after pressing a handkey soaked in drug to her face. It was easier than I thought. I took a last look at the poor Renita who was still talking into the phone unaware of what had happened before I mingled with the traffic in front of me.

I was supposed to feed Lisa her dinner, but then I had dozed off on the couch in the living room. I thought of skipping her dinner and feed her tomorrow's breakfast directly but since she was already so much injured and weak a small part of me felt bad for her. But no doubt that she totally deserves it. I just realized yesterday how my mom would have felt when dad cheated on her. Punishing Lisa kind of paid what my dad did to my mom.

I collected the tray of food from the teapoy in front of me and walked to Lisa's room. The door to her room was a massive iron door of ninety kg weight, though once the lock is opened it doesn't need much force. It will smoothly open by itself and close after a gentle pull. The door cannot be broken under any circumstances and has only one key and no other spare keys. I had the door imported all the way from Japan... Just for my Lisa.

Though I asked her to blindfold herself all the time after I ring the bell, I always wear a mask over my face when I am with her in her room and only remove it for kissing her before leaving her, just being precautionary! I want her to see my face only after she accepts my love, truly and completely!

I pressed the switch for the bell and waited for five minutes. Then I pulled the one and only key for the door from my pocket and opened the door's lock. Once it clicked open I moved the door gently backward. I took a step in pulling the door before it closed.

As I turned to the front to look at my girl, I found the bed empty. Before I could turn towards the washroom to see if she was there I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head.
