Chapter 29

27th December 2019

Cathy's POV:

I struck him hard with the old lamp of my mom on the back of his head. He dropped the tray he had in his hand and turned around when immediately I started cutting him in multiple places with a shard of glass that I had broken earlier from the mirror. He groaned in pain as blood oozed out of the cuts. He dropped to his knees panting hard.

He was wearing a mask over his face which egged me more with curiosity to see if he was someone I knew already but I had to weaken him first as much as I can. Without wasting much time I picked the pots with small plants and dropped them one by one on his head as it broke into pieces after smashing on his head. He screamed in pain as his whole face now got painted by blood.

"What did you do to Noel?", I asked as tears flooded my eyes, "What did you do to him asshole? I was patient enough all these days tolerating all your bullshits and waiting for the right time but not anymore! Not after you started hurting all the people who wanted to help me. Did you think I was capable of nothing?"

I asked as I reached out for his mask. But before that, he pulled out a pocket knife from somewhere that I failed to notice and plunged it into my abdomen. I screamed out in pain as I slumped over the wall behind me.

"And did you think I was that stupid to not even have a small weapon with me for my safety?", he asked struggling to get back to his feet. "I didn't think you will do something this silly and stupid! I was too much bothered to check the footage before coming into the room. Dammit, girl! You keep making wrong moves and getting on my nerves"

Tears streamed down my face as an unbearable pain shot in every direction in my body from the region where he had stabbed. As I dropped to the ground with the knife still jutting out of my abdomen he pulled it out in a swift motion with blood splattering around, making me scream again.

He stood up with blood all over him and groaned in agony. "I loved you, I respected you and your feelings. I broke into your hostel room risking my life even though the police were everywhere, just to decorate this room as you wanted. I never touched you without your consent even though you were sleeping because of my drugs most of the time. But you? You proved to be an ungrateful bitch. Though I keep forgiving you, you keep doing the same. I must teach you a lesson, a proper lesson this time"

He roared in rage and kneeled down beside me. He then roughly pulled me towards him and scooped me up in his arms, making my pain even worse. Unable to stand he dropped to the ground and wailed in pain.

Then he groaned shaking his head vigorously before he stumbled up to his feet and trudged across the room. He then threw me over the bed before my head banged against the headboard. He didn't mind that though. He dragged me down the bed before ripping off my already torn clothes.

"NO! NOO!", I screamed holding on to my bleeding abdomen. Then he removed his clothes holding me beneath him. I tried to wriggle away from him but the open cuts all over my body and the newly bleeding abdomen made it impossible.

"I don't think keeping my identity a secret is of any use anymore. I am disgusted by your behavior", he said as he pulled away his mask. I froze as I saw who was standing in front of me. Unable to believe what I saw I opened my mouth but nothing came out. "Was it you all along?", I managed to ask collecting my voice in utter disbelief.

He didn't answer but towered over me and pinned my hands over my head, "I never wanted to do this but you made me do this", he said before he penetrated into me.

"NOOOOOO!!!!", I screamed as he continued raping me, "I am sorry, please stop. Pleeaaseee", I screamed in pain and agony. But he wouldn't stop. His honey eyes which I noticed for the first time now were the last thing I remember before I fell back to the usual darkness unable to face the killing pain that invaded me now.

Renita's POV:

I was looking around me and at the back seat searching for my phone as I told Vasudev, "I now understand why Noel's car was parked under his apartment building itself"

"Why?", Vasudev asked as his eyes were still fixed on the road ahead which was becoming lonelier and darker as he kept driving towards Victor's property.

"I think Victor knew that Noel had his property's document. Probably he parked Noel's car down and searched his apartment for the document but failed to check under the clothes", I said still wondering where my phone is.

"Maybe", Vasudev muttered as he squinted at the dark road.

"But what I didn't understand is, how and from where did Noel get Victor's document?", I asked.

Vasudev just shrugged and continued driving, "We will find out soon"

"Shit! I left my phone in Noel's flat", I said as my hands shot up to my head "Can you give me your phone?", I asked Vasudev as he asked me to check his glove compartment. I opened it and fished out his phone.

"Do you have Officer Paul's number?", I asked already knowing that most probably he wouldn't have.

He glanced at the rearview mirror before answering, "I have the SI's number. Look for the most recent unsaved number in the call log", he said as I scrolled down the log and found the number.

I called it and waited for a minute listening to the occasional rings before the SI attended the call,

"Hello? this is Subinspector Marudhu"

"Hello, sir its Renita, friend of the missing girl. May I speak to Officer Paul?", I asked in a hurry.

"Oh, you! Hold on", he immediately handed the phone to Officer Paul, "Renita? Whose number is this? Where are you? We received a call from your hostel a few minutes back saying that you went out to get medications and didn't return back. We thought that you were also kidnapped. Where is your phone?", he asked so many questions in one go though I answered none.

"Sir, I have so many important things to tell you, please listen to me word by word"

I started from how I met Vasudev two hours back to breaking into Noel's flat. I even told him about Victor's document of property that I had found in Noel's wardrobe.

"Victor has acquired a house from his father within Coimbatore?", Inspector Paul asked in surprise.

"Yes", I said, "Victor has a house in the outskirts of Coimbatore which he had inherited from his father. But I don't know how Noel got hold of this and he never told me about it. Vasudev, Noel's colleague, and I are on our way to the mentioned address. I will text you the address, please come soon"

"You guys are already on the way to the property? You know what happened to Noel when he tried to go before us", he said purely frustrated.

"We won't go inside the property, sir. We will stop outside and wait for you to come", I said.

"I don't want you to go at all", he said in a mixture of annoyance and concern.

"Sir but I can't hold back myself from seeing where he actually keeps her. I promise I won't go inside", I said stealing a glance from Vasudev who kept looking at me occasionally. I heard the cop sigh at the other end before finally agreeing. He asked me to share the address of the property immediately and I agreed.

I hung the call and was clicking a picture of the address from the document.

"What did the cop say? Not to go there before them?", he asked.

I nodded, "I convinced him saying we will just stop outside the property and wait for them"

"And are we going to do that?", he asked as I shook my head. He chuckled as he acknowledged me that we just had ten more minutes to reach the destination. I was thrilled to find Cathy and so was Vasudev, finally! I whatsapped the picture to the SI's number after saving the contact.

10 minutes later...

An average-sized house but a cute one was standing amidst the dense forest on the outskirts of Coimbatore. We stopped the car at a safe distance from it and hopped out of it. "Stay silent", Vasudev said as we took soft steps towards the house making sure that no one was around. A warm yellow light emitted from every window making the house glow. The first thing I noticed was every window had bars which confirmed that Cathy was definitely held captive somewhere inside it.

A gush of happiness rushed inside me as I realized I was close to rescuing her.

"I kept up to the Promise I made you, Cathy", I said internally which I am sure that Cathy would have felt somehow.
