"…But if we do, you won't see us coming.."
The WereWolf listened to the inhuman Heroes words, emboldened by the amalgamation of wild predators that circled him in the grass like a hurricane of predatory ferocity.
He was sweating bullets. His old human self that he fought to expel from his newly reborn self was being brought back to the surface in the face of a kindred species. He felt human again. He felt like prey.
"You….Bastard!" He snarled in a hushed whisper, gaining quieted fearful grunts and sobs from the Raiders tied to wooden planks in front of the thick tree that jutted from the floor in the center of the of the Raider base. The scent of their fear reminded him of what he'd become, washing away the all too familiar fear he felt only seconds before.
To further expel the old feeling of being prey, he clamped his fist around the pendant at his chest, a simple black braid of leather and fur of Wolf looping through a white circle of stone that had an unearthly blue glow to it. His source of power. More like the key that unlocked a door, a door that opened into his true self.
Pale blue energy spilled from the stone. Elegant wispy tendrils of the energy escaped the casing of his palm and wrapped around his arms, neck and slithered into his nose with an inhale that resembled the sickly euphoric shake of an addict getting their fix.
"NnnrrgahhHHHA!" He let out an exhale, his voice an octave lower than before with the silvery grey fur of a Wolf breaking through the all too small pores of his human skin around his arms and spreading the unkempt beard on his face.
The pounding headache he received was a small price to pay in pursuit of his goal. But it was growing, bringing side effects with it— voices, impulses that added new twisted ideas to his plan. He didn't mind growth— evolution. Not in the slightest.
He began to stalk around the dark room, seeing perfectly through yellow eyes and bared teeth. Silently, he hurriedly dashed past the captured Raiders, spinning around to the other side of the tree stationed in the center of the room and began shuffling through a black leather bag like a psychopath.
The bag was used by all manner of scholars. Simple in design, functioning as both a binder and travel bag, allowing the required organization and efficiency all Tangent Biologists needed to refer to their documented knowledge while in the harsh Tangent's.
Only this bag wasn't filled with the notes and books on all manner of Monsters and biomes of Tangents— largely unstudied. Instead, each section was lazily cluttered with things on one subject, yet the WereWolf ripped through everything in search of an exact topic he seemed to somehow know the location of.
"Come on….come on…where are you..Here!" He said before ripping out a small leather notebook while accidentally spilling his other work.
Pages on pages of Gnoll variations, anatomy and their canine similarity to WereWolves spilled out across the floor in front of him.
He ignored the mess, a more pressing matter was at hand. He'd lost his first instruments of destruction— and evolution. The Gnolls. It didn't matter, he'd get more. But first, he had to remove the Hero and stop him from ruining his research any further. He tried to open the fellow Shape-Shifters eyes to the world and show him that they were enemies to humanity— they always would be, but it was useless. He must not have faced the horrors of society that were brought to his very doorstep.
In a last ditch effort, he'd execute a fail safe he prepared after embracing the power of the Full Moon for the first time. Then, he'd start the beginnings of his revolution. A ferocious revolution begun by changing the Raiders in the base with him into WereWolves. He'd need numbers and vessels for what he had planned.
He flipped through the pages of the leather notebook until he found what he was searching for, causing a wolfish grin to break out on his face as he got up and headed to the back corner of the room where something covered in a cloak and chain sat quietly. Sounds that resembled breaths emanated from beneath its black expanse.
"You won't see us coming….HA!" He mocked the Hero outside, now washed of fear and full of growing bloodlust as parts of his skin began to split with the growth of the Wolf within. "If I won't see you coming….then you won't see this coming either! Just two blind monsters led by their own motives. I won't let you stop this. I won't let you stop me from razing this city— with its Heroes and Villains, to the ground." He said before removing the necklace and closing in on the cloaked heap with a malicious grin.
"I will be granted evolution…"
