A Questing I Shall Go!

"Is it morning already?"

Bob woke up feeling groggy. He slapped his face to rid himself of drowsiness. He sat up and looked out the window to see a dark sky.

"Hmmm. Is it still early morning? Yawn."

He stood up and continued studying the silent sky. There was nary a cloud and the breeze that slapped his face was cold.

"The wind is troubled today."

He rests his hands on the window sill and looked all gloomy.

"Cluck? Cluck."

"Oh. There you are, Lavanuk."

Lavanuk clucked from somewhere in the room and jumped straight to Bob's shoulder. She perched and began pecking on her feathers, probably to scratch some itches.

"Mmmm. What a noisy early morning, don't you think so?"

Bob could hear bustling noises from all around. It was uncharacteristic of a morning solace.

Knock Knock~

"Who's there?"

"It's me, Fera."

"Oh. Let me open the door for you."

Bob walked towards the door. He opened it right after and saw the blonde beauty right before his eyes.

"Good morning, Fera. How are you today?" Bob greeted.

"Morning? It's evening already. And you need to take a bath." Fera corrected Bob.

"Evening? Oh. I didn't realize it was already evening. The sky looks dark so I thought it was still early morning."

"You jest. At least you're awake now. Your friends from last night were looking for you earlier. I told them that you were busy at the moment so that they wouldn't worry."

"Oh. Thank you for informing me. Please, come in and take a seat."

"No need. You're finally awake, you should go and take a bath. You reek and you're covered in chicken shit." Fera complained of Bob's current state.

Bob only took a proper look at himself after Fera told him. He was indeed covered in dirt and as Fera said, chicken shit. Lavanuk jumped towards his bed and covered herself in the blankets.

"Lavanuk! Why didn't you tell me!" Bob ran after Lavanuk towards the bed.

"I'll leave you to your own devices. Just know, that in a week, you're going to be officially inaugurated as a knight. Although you are one already, you still need to do the ceremony in the chapel." Fera informed Bob before closing the door.

Bob heard what she said. Despite being a free adventurer, like a proper Gourmet's Knight, he still had some formalities to attend to.

"Okay. I better start by taking a bath."

Bob looked around his room and found a towel. He went outside of his room and asked around to eventually make it towards the bathing area.

'How do I sneak Lavanuk into the bathing area though?'

He had a problem relating to his chicken.

-

"Cluck."

"Come on. Let's go inside. It's just a bath."

Bob had a hard time bringing Lavanuk inside the bathing area. She was determined to not get her feathers wet so she could not bring herself to follow inside.

"Cluck." Lavanuk turned her head to the side.

Bob was troubled. He could not stay far from Lavanuk because he'll go back to being an NPC without intelligence.

"How about this, you stay right by the door. I'll bathe in the nearest stall."

Bob proposed a solution. This way, they would not be too separated from each other.

"Cluck." Lavanuk simply clucked.

She flew from Bob's shoulder and landed right next to the entrance to the bathing area. Bob quickly removed his clothing and put them in a basket and proceeded to pass through the entrance.

"Cluck." Lavanuk clucked by herself and walked away to peck on something.

-

"That was a good bath." Bob felt refreshed while wiping away the moisture with a towel.

However, he ran into a problem when he arrived at the changing room.

"I don't have clothes."

He only realized the lack of clothes to change into when he needed to wear them. Earlier, he was more worried about his smelly self than what would happen afterward.

"Let's see here."

He searched around the dressing area and he found a bathrobe. It was the only article of clothing that was available for him. It was a pure white bathrobe and there was plenty of it in the changing room.

"Darn. I don't have any underwear, but this will have to do for now."

When Bob made it outside the bathing area, he went straight towards his room.

'Maybe there's a change of clothes there.'

He was hopeful that the cabinets within his room had clothes. Bob didn't want to walk around all day in a bathrobe.

'I feel like I'm forgetting something.' He thought to himself as he opened his room door.

-

"He's still the same level though. Are you sure he's in a dungeon?" E said towards Annera.

"I don't know. From what Fera said earlier, it seems that Bob was busy. Maybe he's doing some sort of religious rights or something? He did get a class change just last night." Annera could not confirm any of her suspicions but had to voice them out.

"Fuck it. Let's just go. He ain't replyin, then he ain't joinin. What's the problem with that?" Minion annoyingly said. He was fed up with waiting and wanted to do the quest immediately.

Blight just stood at the side without saying anything.

"Hey, we're a party. Although Bob may be a new addition, he still needs to be present whenever we do something like a major quest. " Enma tied down Minion with his words.

[Call connected.]

"Oh? It went through." E was calling Bob again and again since earlier. Only now when the sun has set did the call connect.

[What went through?] Bob's voice could be heard from the interface.

"Hey, Bob. We were waiting for you. We have a quest to do. You up for it?" E didn't hesitate to invite Bob, ignoring Bob's question.

[Sure! I'm just in a bit of a problem at the moment though.] Bob replied with a troubled voice.

"Are you okay? You didn't reply since early morning so you must be doing something big. Do you need our help?" Annera butted in the conversation.

[Something big? No, not really. But I do need your help.]

"What is it?" E worriedly asked. He thought that Bob was having a difficult time.

[Yea. I need to ask you guys to get something for me.]

"Like what? Say it quickly." Minion's voice was aggressive. He was annoyed since earlier and he's acting like this quest is a big bother.

But unlike his current demeanor, Minion was excited to do the quest. After all, he was the person that wanted to abandon a party member just to start the quest earlier.

[I need clothes.]

"Excuse me, what?" E could not understand Bob's predicament. Why would he suddenly ask for clothing?

[I said, I need clothes.]

"Why would you need clothes? Aren't your newbie rags enough?" Annera remembered Bob's beginner set from last night. She somewhat understood that Bob did not need armor because he never dies from hits.

[My clothes are currently being washed. I need a separate set of clothes.]

"Sure. I have extra pieces of armor if you need it. Although they're armor that I used from the past, it'll be much better off to be used by a party member than to sell it to some stranger."

Enma interjected. He had the misconception that Bob was a berserker so he was feeling a kinship with Bob. He was skeptical of Bob's choice of armor last night but he thought that Bob wanted to constantly have a low HP.

-

"Alright. I should get to them soon. A quest, a quest! A-questing I shall go!" Bob was also excited about journeying. It was best that he keep himself busy so that he wouldn't have the time to mope around.

And when he checked his weapons and stuff, he realized that something was missing.

"Hey, where's Lavanuk?"

"Cluck!"

A chicken answered from beyond his room door. It was as if Lavanuk was waiting for him to ask before clucking. He opened the door to find that Lavanuk was wearing a tiny fedora.

"There you are, let's go. We have a quest to do. What's this little ornament on your head?"

Bob picked Lavanuk up and perched her on his right shoulder. He removed her small fedora and began walking towards the church entrance.

-

"So that's why you're only wearing a bathrobe. I see. Well, here's my level 10 armor set. It should fit you quite well, it doesn't have much of a stat requirement to use." Enma uttered as he pressed on invisible buttons.

[Enma is offering a trade. Accept?]

*You received Common Apprentice Leather Armor.

*You received Common Apprentice Leather Greaves.

*You received Common Apprentice Leather Leggings.

*You received Common Apprentice Leather Gloves.

*You received Shirt with Shirakami Fubuki Print.

"Thank you, kind sir. I'll be changing in the restroom. Excuse me."

They were currently in the inn that was right beside the smithy. Bob immediately went inside one of the stalls in the restroom to change into his new armor pieces.

His defense grew from 0 to more than a hundred real quick. But the author wouldn't specify because Bob doesn't really need the armor.

When he finished, Bob went back to the party. After he arrived, E said.

"Let's go. I'll tell Bob about the details as we walk."
