Chapter 29: Evil Entity

I quickly sprinted back and turned my head around to see him and to keep my distance to something that is dangerous to him. I raised my wooden sword in a defensive position.

"W-What…" I stuttered in my words as I couldn't be able to keep up with what's happening. My eyes widened as I finally saw his form.

A young man with a close age as mine, wearing a black tuxedo as an outfit. He wears a tall black hat and a wide smirk like that of a demon. But what caught my attention was the black mists that wrapped his whole body.

"Hello there, young lady." He said, still not removing his creepy smile. "It seems like you are lost in the woods."

I couldn't help but shiver in my position, didn't know what to do in my situation. His whole presence shouted danger to me, but I can't get out right now. I wanted to escape, but I'm afraid that he'll put a sneak attack on me.

Then, he suddenly pulled something out of his back, which I didn't recognize at first since I've never seen anything like that before. A sword with a thin pointy blade can be seen in front of me. If I remembered correctly, that was called rapier in the books.

"W-Who are you?" I took the courage to speak. I didn't move in my defense pose and kept watching for him in case he'll do something suspicious. My cold sweat dripped from my head, and my heart continued to beat faster.

If he is what I think he is, then I'll be in danger, or worse, I might die. I wish anyone would find me and helped me here.

"Oh, I'm just passing by, watching Zentra from afar." He said in a friendly tone, walking around the cave and taking a look at the whole place we're in. I was supposed to be comfortable with him, but the fact that he released black mists and dark presence told me that he's not a good person.

"Y-You're… a daminon…" I spitted the words. It took some guts to say those words in front of him since I didn't know what will be his reaction of me knowing about it. Daminons are dangerous to encounter. Their power, their attitude, and their goals are never to be underestimated.

He stopped in his path and just stood there. Even though he's not moving, I still didn't leave my defensive position.

"Well well well. You've got some potential!" He turned his head around to me, showing me his widest smirk that reached his ears. I flinched in my position, surprised at his sudden reaction. Then, he bowed to me like that of the butlers in the castle. "I'm very sorry for underestimating you."

"Yes. I'm a daminon." He added, confirming what I said, still not removing his grin. I couldn't help but to gulp, started to get worried about my condition. If he confirmed it like that, then there is a huge possibility that I couldn't get out of here alive.

"My name is Kairos Beneit, at your service." He bowed again as he spoke his name.

"W-What do you want from me?" I said as my body continued to shiver. He raised his upper body from bowing at a quick pace, so I jumped at my position. I can feel my heart about to explode at those times.

"What do I want from you?" He said, sticking his index finger on his cheek as he looked away, pretending that he doesn't know what he meant. "Hmm… I wonder what…"

He stared at my face, which was now in a state that I was about to slap my face with my palm if I'm not holding the wooden sword, frustrated at the fact that he can still joke at me.

After seeing my irritated face, he started to laugh maniacally, which made me more uncomfortable. This took a minute and I don't know if he's really a daminon. His satisfaction finally came to an end as he ran out of breath.

"Just kidding." He said between his laughter, wiping his tears of joy with his fingers. "Of course, I know it!"

"It's just a simple thing." He added, lifting his sword and started inspecting its sharp blade. I tighten the grip of my sword, having a bad feeling about this conversation. "No money, no effort."

After that, he immediately pointed the blade to me in a far distance as the tip of it shone despite the absence of sunlight inside the cave. His face shouted evil, especially his devilish grin that couldn't be removed. His sudden sword made me jumped.

"I want you dead." With that, he vanished in front of me, turning himself into black mists. My eyes widened as I heard what he said, and started to panic when he disappeared.

"What?"

I turned my head around in every direction, trying to catch him on sight in case he was planning a sneak attack on me. But everything around me became blurry, and my vision is being enveloped with fear.

I don't know what to do in this situation. If I don't know where he went, then he'll kill me with that sharp blade of his. And I also don't know if it will kill me instantly or just slow death, either way, it's not good. I don't know what to think, I don't know what to do.

If I couldn't see him, then I'll become a corpse.

Don't just rely on your sight, use your other senses.

Suddenly, I remembered Cainne's words of wisdom when we were training for the first time. That's right. I can't just rely on my sense of sight, I must do what I did in the training. If I couldn't apply what I learned, then I didn't learn anything at all.

I took a long breath and closed my eyes in the deep darkness of the cave, trying to concentrate on what I'll be feeling around my surroundings.

I can hear the dripping sound of the sap from the ceiling on my left side and at the same time, the cold breeze was pushing itself to the South, telling me that the wind current is heading that way.

Then, all of a sudden, the dripping stopped for a second then went back to normal and the current was interrupted by a fast wind direction to the East. That means that Kairos ran past through the puddle that I saw earlier and was now running towards my back.

I focused my senses to the feel of the wind until I felt that the wind from the East turned back towards the West. If he came from my back, then now, he was running towards me. I heard a small sway, which I found out that it was the sword ready to stab me with its blade.

With a fixed position of where he is and the direction where he was about to go, I was ready to block his blow with my wooden sword.

I turned my whole body around to my back and held my sword tightly with both of my hands. After that, I felt that my sword hit something that I didn't know, so I opened my eyes and I saw a thin blade that was blocked by mine.

Because of each other's blows, the wind pressure ran in the opposite direction, flowing my short hair away from me as well as his hat. His thin long black hair tied into a loose ponytail was now visible to me. I can see his dark eyes surrounded by black nerves, widened out of shock.

After that, he gave me a smirk and started laughing as loud as possible. Again, this took a while, until he stopped to take a long deep breath. I couldn't help but raise my eyebrow, confused by his personality.

"You're really interesting." He said, wiping his tears once more. "I've never seen anyone stopped my attack since they all ended up dead."

"Fine." He added, standing in front of me with formality, and yet, he still gave me the dark presence that anyone could fear. Then, he picked up his black hat and wear it again, not removing his eyes to me.

"I wanted to face you in the future so I'll let you live," He said. I don't know if I'm glad to hear that or not, but at least, he'll let me live for a while. I sighed in relief at my position because of it. "but for now…"

When I heard what he said, I was about to go into my defensive position, anxious that he might do something suspicious to me. But I realized that I was too late to react.

I felt a sudden pain in the back of my neck, just like what I felt when I was struggling to let go of the Deravon Kingdom. It was so painful that I couldn't be able to say any word to cry for help.

Then, my whole vision became blurry, and all I can see was him standing in front of me as I was slowly falling down to the ground.

"See you soon, Lilena."

That's the last voice I heard, then my whole world became silent and dark.
