Freda and I belong to section one. Because we are both honor students from first year. Our parents are so proud of us.
During lunch, we go to the cafeteria, and we met with our old friends from different sections. Lina and Cindy were both from section one during our first year but, during junior high they both not able to make it. Their grades fall below the average needed to be in Section one.
"I missed you guys." Lina said, smiling at us.
"Me too." The three of us said in unison.
"I heard there is a new student in our school and according to the rumors I heard he is so handsome and hot." Cindy said with a giggle.
"Oh! Really? Well, I guess, he will be the new toy of Caroline. She always got what she wants, if he is really that hot. I am one hundred percent sure she will be on her radar soon." Freda said tactfully.
I only smile listening to them banter about who is hot, or who is handsome in the entire school. I am tired to fantasize to be in a relationship.
Given my current situation wherein my parents will not allow me to go home alone how much more about dating? They will be hysterical if I will tell them I want to date.
"I think the two of you should start dating? Guys, we are in Senior year it is the best time to experience first date and first kiss." Lina said to Freda and me.
We both chuckle as our response. Honestly Freda is beautiful and I on the other hand, sometimes I heard the boys calling me hot and gorgeous. But since I don't want to date it goes the same with Freda.
"Yes! Indeed, you should start to know boys, you will like it girls. I mean you are almost eighteen Malia. Technically you can be married if you are of legal age. So you can date now Mal." Cindy said with a smile.
"Guys, I think you have forgotten both our parents. You know them as if we can date. Thank you for your concern girls, but for now it is the least of my priorities you know." I said to both of them.
"I want to experience first love and all but now I just want to go to the mall alone. To shop wherever and whenever I want. I can't even go to your house alone."
"Do you think boys will like me if they found out I am just like Rapunzel. It feels like I am in a cage, I don't have that kind of freedom you guys have." I said sadly.
"I can't even go to the bookstore without them, unless I am with Freda."
"Yeah! It is a bit sad that you experience that kind of life Malia but do you know that you are so lucky. Our parents do not care about us." Cindy said.
"I agree, both of you are so lucky your parents always find ways just to be with you. I guess it is life after all. We can't really have it all." Lina said with a sigh.
"Well, maybe Mr. Right will come for you at the right time, he should be strong and true enough to face your parents, then it will be worth the wait, at least you two haven't experienced being broken-hearted, and cried so many nights, but being in love is worth all the pain in my own opinion." Lina said while trying to eat her pizza.
"I agree, with you Lina and if your heart get broken you can love again, it is just the cycle of life." Cindy said, then they both laughed.
"But we know that you are a romantic type Malia base on your personality, you are looking for the right one, you don't want to experience relationship for the sake of curiosity, you want to have a boyfriend, and he must be someone you love. Actually, I admire your outlook in life, but as for me, I just wanted to enjoy life." Lina said seriously, then all of us became silent.
I lost interest with my food. My thoughts wander to what they said to me. Well, maybe if the time comes I will meet the one, that is the time I will decide to go on a date.
My friends are right after all, If someone is brave enough to ask me on a date, then he has to face my parents. I smiled with that thought. Who? Could be so brave in this whole campus, I am not that popular. I will not be worth of his chivalry, but of course he should be someone that I like too, what if he is brave enough, but I don't feel anything for him, it will still be useless.
Every girl dreams of having their first boyfriend and first kiss, specially like me who will be turning eighteen soon, and I think only Freda and me are still not lucky enough to meet our Prince Charming yet. I am not in a hurry anyway. I am the type of girl who believed in love at first sight, and true love can really wait.
"Malia, you better eat your food now, we are almost out of time again. Time travels fast if we have girls talk, but during class, thirty minutes is so long." Freda said.
"Yes! You are definitely correct Fred." Lina and Cindy both said.
Within five minutes I am finished eating my lunch. We got up to put our trays back and throw our garbage in the trash bin.
"See you in the locker room girls after the bell of last period." Says Lina.
"Okay, see you girls." I said and we go in separate ways.
As usual the room is packed when we came. We sat at the back again. Our section is full of bright students. I am so excited of the coming competition. Freda and I both love competing for the highest grades.
Mr. Santos is our teacher for our first subject in the afternoon, which is General Science, he begins the roll call when someone approached him.
The whole class went silent. We are all looking for the new guy who is giving Mr. Santos his class schedule and the form, from the guidance counselor. He is extremely attractive, the way he smiles could light up the whole class. He has elegance and confidence, and judging by the signature clothes he wore it is not a question that he comes from a wealthy family.
"So you are the new student? Well, class, please welcome our new student here. Please introduce yourself to the class and find your seat afterwards."
"Hello good afternoon everyone, I am Nicholas Neroz and you can call me Nick. Our family moved here last week. Thank you." He said in a baritone voice.
Nick introduced himself and after that the class come back to life. There are whispers everywhere. The girls can't take their eyes from him while most of the boys you can see the envy in their eyes.
"Class, enough ogles, Nick you can sit at the back beside Malia." Mr. Santos said to him, pointing in my direction, and I think I see him glides in going to the seat beside me.
"Hi Malia. It is nice to meet you." I heard he said after he sat beside me. I don't know how to react, and I can feel he is staring at me intently.
I nodded at him, and returned my attention in front of the class. In the middle of the class I get a glimpse of Freda looking at Nick.
It seems to me that they are communicating through telepathy. I don't know I got paranoid. I am interested to know him because I know He is different from all the boys I know in our entire school. He is so handsome indeed, I could say that he is now the most handsome guy on campus, for sure the popular girls will be surrounding him sooner than later.
I felt so conscious because within the entire class of Mr. Santos the new student is gazing at me. I know I am not ugly, but I find it weird that he is watching me with interest. Boys are never fascinated with me before, actually he is the only boy who looked at me that way.
I find it so unusual being seated beside to Nick the entire afternoon classes. Is He stalking me? Or does he want to know me? The entire female population of our entire class is giving me a hard look.
When the final bell rang, I got up and signal Freda to walk faster. I want to get away from him as possible. I don't want destruction during my senior year.
"Malia can you go ahead in the locker room and meet the girls. I just need to go to the restroom." Freda said to me.
"Okay! Take your time Fred."
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Nick looked at me, then he goes after Freda. Well, at least I got it the wrong way. He is after Freda after all. I sighed with relief, and I walked faster in going to the locker. I felt so foolish for thinking someone might be engrossed with me.
