WEDDING NIGHT

Want to try it out?

Xin Weilin's face turned red as soon as he said the words.

"It is our wedding night," Gu Xichen felt an inexplicable sense of satisfaction when he saw her face turn a deeper shade of red. "Do you plan on fulfilling your wifely duties, Mrs Gu?"

Xin Weilin's heart rate sped up, as she looked at him, wondering how she was going to answer his question. She had known this would eventually happen when she decided to marry him, she was prepared for it. But she was also afraid and nervous. Her thoughts were interrupted when he spoke,

"Why did you marry me?" His face was back to being serious, as if the person who had been teasing her earlier wasn't him.

"Because you were the most handsome," Xin Weilin answered, grateful the topic of conversation had been changed. She had a mischievous smile on her face.

He arched a brow, "You said you needed to get married today, why?"

Xin Weilin sighed. " If I hadn't gotten married today, all my father's hard work would have been given away to my father's half brother and I definitely couldn't let that happen."

Her parents had passed away three months ago, and they had left everything to her, given the condition that she get married three months after their deaths. If she failed to get married, everything would fall into the hands of her father's half brother, who she was sure would sell her father's most prized possession out of spite. Her parents had always been worried about her marriage, she was twenty six after all and she had still not been married. It was probably the reason why her father had put forth that condition, but it had put her in a dilemma.

Xin Weilin had met Mo Zhouli months back, but her parents had never liked him. Xin Lei and Tang Chi had made no secret of the fact that they hadn't liked her boyfriend. It was the reason why Xin Weilin hadn't immediately married Mo Zhouli after her parents had died. She had hesitated for a long time, but seeing as the three months had almost been up, Xin Weilin had conceded, and had decided to marry him. But now she was extremely glad she hadn't married him, she had saved herself from a lifetime of grief.

Gu Xichen patiently listened, as she explained the entire situation to him.

"I just wanted to try my luck, I didn't think you would easily agree to marry me," Xin Weilin said after a while.

"You were beautiful," Gu Xichen said simply.

Xin Weilin laughed, not expecting him to have have married her for the same reason she had married him. Before she could think of anything else, Xin Weilin felt herself being carried, bridal style.

"Let's go to bed." He proceeded to carry her to her room, gently laying her on the bed. He hovered above her for some seconds, before straightening up and taking off his robe. Xin Weilin sucked in a breath, as the garment fell, fully revealing the eight-pack abdominal muscles she had gotten a glimpse of before. He was wearing boxer briefs.

He leaned closer, his hands on either side of her head. Xin Weilin tensed, fully waiting to receive his kiss, but it never came. Gu Xichen had kissed her forehead instead. Her body relaxed, but there was a tiny sense of disappointment in her.

"Disappointed?" He lay down beside her, pulling her to him, hugging her.

Xin Weilin blushed at having her thoughts so easily guessed. "Of course not," she protested.

He chuckled, his chest vibrating against her back. "Sleep."

And she did, it was the most peaceful sleep she had had for a long time.

Gu Xichen was not next to her when she woke up, but the bed still had his lingering scent. Xin Weilin took her phone and looked for Mo Zhouli's number, before blacklisting him and then deleting his number. She wasn't one for drama, she would simply cut him off from her life. And if he chose to look for trouble, she would adequately deal with him. And his rubbish mistress? She hadn't met her yet in this life.

Xin Weilin put those two out of her mind, promising to never think of them. She proceeded to pack the rest of her things, before taking a shower.

Dragging her suitcases with her, Xin Weilin came out of her room dressed in a simple olive dress. It gave her a classy and elegant vibe.

"Just in time, breakfast is ready." Gu Xichen was dressed in a black shirt with grey pants. His sleeves were rolled up, revealing smooth muscular forearms. He looked at her, his eyes appraising her appearance. She lowered her lashes, cheeks colouring slightly.

Xin Weilin looked at the spread of dishes on the dining table, "Did you cook all this?" She pulled a chair and sat down.

"Hmm."

Xin Weilin started piling her plate up with food. She almost moaned when the food entered her mouth, it was scrumptious. "It's delicious."

"Thank you. I also can't wait to taste my wife's cooking."

Xin Weilin almost chocked on her food. She took a gulp of water, and smiled awkwardly. "Eh... I can't cook." She lowered her head feeling little ashamed.

"Yes, I saw the packet of instant noodles in the kitchen."

Xin Weilin looked up at him, only to see him staring at her with amusement.

He was teasing her.

"Hmph. Yes I can't cook, so be prepared to be doing all the cooking in the house." She continued eating.

They tidied up the house after they finished. She wasn't planning on ever coming back here, the lease would be over in a month. Xin Weilin dropped off her keys with the landlord, he lived in the apartment on the first floor. She told the landlord he could throw away any stuff left after the month was up. Mo Zhouli had his own set of keys, he could come take his stuff if he wanted, she didn't care.

She was now walking on the path of her new life, and she wouldn't look back.
