Buying a House

After they got home from school, Arthur grabbed his laptop and went to do some random research, as he liked to get a variety of knowledge. He was mainly focused on the high school educational grid.

Thomas, who had already built a new cluster with the same configurations, since he couldn't make a more powerful one due to lack of space, went back to doing the things he normally did.

The time passed like that until bedtime and soon the day passed.

Sunday was not impressive either and Arthur continued training heavily as usual.

When it finally arrived at night, when Thomas had already slept, Arthur slowly left his room and the Hotel, heading towards the Arena.

Arriving there and descending the usual stairs, Arthur soon headed for the Betting Hall. He overheard a few conversations along the way, but none were too impressive. Some even talked about Sinner's disappearance from the Arena and the subject of Arthur's rising strength had already subsided.

When he finally arrived at the Betting Hall, the same beautiful attendant who was the last time was the one who received him.

"Good night, mercenary! What service do you want from our Betting Hall?" With a bright smile on her face, the attendant spoke sympathetically. The initial expression she made was a little surprised by Arthur's beauty, but then she hid it.

As Arthur knew that there was no point in hiding his identity any longer, he found it pointless to wear any kind of mask, revealing his surprising beauty to everyone.

"I knew I could resolve some issues involving real estate purchases around here. Is the information valid?" With a smile on his face too, Arthur returned the sympathy.

Thanks to his innate ability, he knew very well who was being sincere or a liar. If a person acted rudely to him, but he felt it was a disguise and the person inside was good, then he would treat them kindly. And the same thing would also happen in reverse.

The attendant quickly controlled herself after seeing Arthur's exuberant smile and spoke quickly: "Of course we did. I'll call the person responsible for this service. Just a minute!" As soon as she finished talking, the lady typed some things into the computer.

A short time later, another woman as exuberant as the attendant, if not more so, walked up to them and greeted Arthur.

"Are you the one who wants to get information about buying real estate?" The smile hanging on the woman's face made any man melt with passion.

But even so, Arthur did not feel the slightest fluctuation of mood at the woman's beauty. Because he saw that she wasn't quite like that inside.

"Yes" Arthur replied with an indifferent face.

"Great! So please follow me to the next room."

'Arrogance? Condescension? Disgusted? Whatever.' It was Arthur's thoughts as he looked at the woman sensingly parading.

The two soon approached a nearby room and sat on nearby chairs. The room was well organized and clean, with little furniture decorating the room. In between the two chairs were some magazines filled with pictures of houses.

"What kind of house are you looking for, sir? We have several types in the city area and it would take a long time to search them all."

"Large, comfortable, tree-lined and with a swimming pool. I also want it to have two floors with large open areas on the ground floor and smaller rooms on the first and second floor. If there is an option with an underground floor, it would be even better." Arthur went straight to what he wanted, as he had been waiting for this day for a long time.

"We have some house options in this style, totaling 3. But I must warn you that the values for these houses are very high, exceeding a few million. Are you okay to spend this amount of money?" The woman spoke as she took one of the magazines off the table and opened it to a close page. Her look at Arthur also showed a bit of condescension, as if she were sure that a C-level mercenary couldn't afford to buy such a house.

"Money is not a problem." Arthur spoke in a less than arrogant way.

"All is well then!" After a short pause to pass the magazine to Arthur, the woman continued to talk.

"As your request, this mansion you are looking at is the most expensive of the three options. The area has a total of 2000 square meters, with the house occupying 1000 of these. It is large, spacious and has two floors plus one underground, plus a garage that can fit about three large cars."

"It has an outdoor leisure area, close to the swimming pool and perfect for having a barbecue, and there is also a sports court nearby. A little further back from the house there is a garden of flowers and rare and popular plants, but throughout the house there are tall trees, giving good shade all over the place."

"The ground floor is mainly occupied by the kitchen, living room, and some empty and large rooms, which include the possibility of a games room and gym. Upstairs there are designated areas for bedrooms, bathrooms and the house's balcony, a total of 5 bedrooms and 2 suites, all very large and can be used for more than one common room. By the way, the second floor also has access to the roof and also to a small room, perfect for admiring the vast universe. The underground is a large empty space, with an entrance through the house and a bigger one, in case the owner wants to transform it into a garage."

"The architectural style is modern and with some blended points of elegance. The price is around R$15 million." As the woman spoke, she gestured for Arthur to flip through the pages. At the end of her speech, she looked thoughtfully at Arthur for an answer.

She didn't mind the whole explanation at all, even though she thought it was lost work. She just wanted to see the shock on this poor mercenary's face upon learning the value of the house.

After thinking for a while and looking at all the rooms for the photographs in the magazine, ideas started to pop into Arthur's mind. Money was no problem and he was willing to spend. He even felt a tug in his chest, as if this was the right choice, even though he hadn't seen the other options.

Arthur pointed to all the furniture in the photos and asked the woman: "Is it already furnished or is it all illustrative?"

"It's up to you whether the furniture in the house stays that way or changes. We can also make changes to the house to your liking, but the price will also increase." The woman's smile widened even more, and she was almost laughing. She thought Arthur's calm expression and interest were all false bravado.

Arthur's eyebrows rose slightly in surprise and a smile spread across his face.

"Then consider it purchased. But first, let's discuss moving the furniture and some changes I plan to make."

After that, Arthur and the woman remained in the room for a few hours, Arthur talking about the most suitable type of furniture and the alterations he would make to the house, while the woman wrote everything down in laptop.

The woman's expression also grew darker as she thought she was wasting her time here. She couldn't just send Arthur away, but calmly hope that everything went down.

He took his and Thomas' tastes into account when making his decisions. The furniture was replaced by an entirely modern and technological one, and even some changes in the structure of the house.

At the end of the conversation, the house ended up selling for R$20 million, thanks to all the new furniture Arthur bought, as well as the small changes in the mansion. The keys would be delivered to Arthur in a few weeks, as the mansion needed a makeover. The expected day of delivery would be February 4th.

After closing the purchase using the card given by the Guild, Arthur left the room with a smile on his face.

The woman's expression upon seeing the card accepted and the amount paid was also indescribable. She couldn't speak and just lay still. Arthur enjoyed this view just before he left.

'Now that I have the house, I can finally relax. Even if it's not delivered until later, it'll still be worth it. I think Thomas will go crazy when he sees it.' Arthur walked with light, cheerful steps, but his expression was cold and indifferent. He didn't much like revealing his emotions to outsiders.

Deciding to stay a little longer in the Arena, watching some fights, Arthur took a table located in the center of the area and sat down. He ordered some snacks and energy drink.

Although there were many mercenaries in the place, known for being cold and indifferent, Brazil was still Brazil. Even the coldest place there would still be considered a party in some other countries.

The local mercenaries chatted and laughed, telling their stories and adventures to their close colleagues. In the stands some people were shouting and cheering for their fighters.

Although there are many people in the place, not even 10% of them were mercenaries. After all, it was not a potato to grow in large quantities. People who were willing to take this path had to think hard. These other people were just associates or senior members of society, who came to have fun watching others fight.

Of course, his entry here was not cheap, and the secrecy was maximum. Many people have already suffered from spreading news about the Arena, and the media quickly erased these stories.

While enjoying the snacks and drinking his energy drink, calm and soft music played on Arthur's headphones, making him feel relaxed. He was just enjoying the moment of genuine happiness.

As he enjoyed all this, out of the corner of his eye, a hooded figure calmly walked by. Many mercenaries who did not want to reveal their identities came like this, but this particular figure was familiar to Arthur.

A slight smile appeared on Arthur's face and he stood up.

'Let's see if some of my theories are right!' Eyes glowing an emerald green, Arthur soon followed the figure.
