End Of The Day

The class period took place normally. Professor Matheus explained some things about the course and from time to time he wrote on the board, but he also said that most of the classes would be by slideshow.

Arthur occasionally opened his eyes to see what was going on. He just listened to music calmly as he twirled the pen in his fingers. The movements became faster and more complex as he played.

After almost 2 hours of class, the bell for the afternoon break and snack also rang. It was already 2:40 pm and the break was a brief 20 minutes.

As soon as the teacher had finished the class and released the students, Arthur got up and left the room. He passed without saying anything to Beatrice or Aline.

When the two saw this, they had different reactions. Aline was a little shocked by Arthur's behavior, but soon her silly anger at him returned. Beatrice, on the other hand, looked at the figure of Arthur walking out the door before putting her things back in the case, without any particular expression.

Arthur walked straight to a bench in the square, the same one that Emily, Sara, Madison and he had been talking to. He sat down calmly and closed his eyes. A few moments later, a set of footsteps could be heard coming towards him. They were heavy, completely different from the girls.

"Hey, you little shit!" A thick voice spoke close to Arthur.

"..." Arthur didn't even bother opening his eyes.

"Hey, you fucking idiot, people are talking to you!!" The voice yelled again.

"..." Silence.

The voice said nothing more, but Arthur sensed that the person, or rather the group of people, had come closer.

"You better answer when someone is talking to you, sucker!"

As the voice came out, Arthur felt a hand slowly approaching his head. He remained motionless and eyes closed.

"Hey, what's going on?" A sweet, feminine voice rang out.

The instant that voice came out, the hand also quickly retracted. It was also at this moment that Arthur opened his eyes and saw the trio of girls. He knew from the voice that Madison had spoken.

"Ah, nothing, nothing. I was just chatting with your friend." That same male voice rang out and Arthur took the opportunity to look at who it was.

He was a good looking boy and had a unique aura. He was neither fat nor thin, with a good physique and well-groomed skin. His hair was also flawless and his face very pretty, with round-rimmed glasses that added to his beauty.

The girls didn't believe the boy at once, so they looked at Arthur at the same time.

"I haven't even noticed them here." Arthur shrugged.

The girls looked at him strangely and noticed something. His glances at the pretty boy's group turned a little sour.

"Are you looking for something, Caesar?" Sara spoke as she approached Arthur.

"As I said, I just wanted to talk to him, just like you." Cesar gave a flattering smile.

Madison and Emily didn't say anything, but they also went to sit on the bench. The seating order was as follows, from left to right: Sara, Arthur, Emily and Madison. At lunch, Arthur was between Sara and Madison, but now it was different.

The moment Caesar saw Emily and Arthur sitting this close together, his eyes flashed with fire for an instant before a calm look was replaced.

Arthur obviously noticed this and gave a slight smile. 'So you're just another one of those idiots who comes looking for fights over girls... what the fuck is this logic?'

"How were your classes?" Arthur smiled slightly and asked the girls. He completely ignored Caesar's presence. He also leaned on the bench and put his arms behind Sara and Emily.

Caesar saw that and was much more enraged. Afraid of losing control, he simply walked away without saying another word.

'Lay a finger on Emily and I'll make of your life hell!'

"What happened between you two?" Emily was the first to ask. She knew what Arthur was doing, so she figured there was some problem between him and Caesar. Sara and Madison were also wearing worried expressions.

"As I said, there was nothing. You don't need to worry about that, it was just an annoying fly." Arthur lightened the girls with a slight smile and a shrug.

"I recommend you don't look for more trouble than you already have. Charles, the person you provoked at lunch, is the principal's son." Emily stared into Arthur's eyes for a moment before quickly turning away. Her cheeks were so slightly flushed they were barely noticeable.

'Already?' Arthur smiled inwardly.

"So that was why…" Arthur muttered under his breath.

Emily continued: "And Caesar is a guy you shouldn't mess with. Everyone already knows that his family is one of the richest in town. He may look nice on the outside, but you can tell he's just a front. There was a student last year who joined him. They had a fight for some unknown reason and this boy was transferred the next day, just like that." Emily didn't meet Arthur's eyes to blush again and say softly, "Be careful."

"Looks like someone's worried about me, doesn't it?" Arthur joked.

"I'm not worried about you, you idiot! I'm going to study!" Emily stood up suddenly and walked away. No one could see it, but her cheeks were blushing a lot.

"So…how was that time without me?" Arthur pulled Madison to his side and got the two of them to start talking.

"Don't be so showy!"

"Shameless!"

Sara and Madison talked while laughing. They spent the afternoon break talking as usual. Arthur sometimes played with the girls' hair, braiding or straightening it.

At one point, Arthur looked at the two girls and asked, "Do you want to go out? Like a meetup? You two, Emily and me. You've wanted this for a while, right?"

Both girls' eyes sparkled with excitement. They stared into Arthur's face and nodded repeatedly, like little chicks pecking at grain.

"So it's decided! How about this Saturday? It would be very tiring for you to leave school and go somewhere. What do you think?" Arthur asked as he stood up. There was little time for the bell to ring.

"Of course! Let's talk to Emily and on the way out we'll come talk to you!" The two girls soon perked up.

Arthur accompanied the two into the living room. He took the opportunity and located Emily. She was with her head down and working out what appeared to be an exam. Her expression was scrunched up, as if she was struggling with an issue.

Arthur could read the words clearly, even from a distance. The difficult question was already full of scribbles and rubber dust. He read the math question, did a quick calculation, and said to Sara:

"Tell Emily that the right answer is B."

Sara thought it odd, but nodded and walked over to Emily's desk.

"Emily, Arthur sent word that the correct answer is B." Sara spoke a little strangely. It seemed difficult to find any logic behind that sentence, considering that Arthur might not even know about the subject of the exam.

"What?" Emily also found it strange and was confused.

"He should still be at the door, I'll call-" Sara turned to go to the door, but Arthur was already gone.

After a few minutes, the math teacher, Tiago, arrived in the third-year classroom.

"Good afternoon people! Last classes of the day, so I'll move the process along soon. These will be the subjects reviewed during the year until the college entrance exams. As it's your last year, I hope you make the effort."

The teacher soon began to explain class topics and some study suggestions to the students. The class was silent, with few students talking to each other.

When the teacher finally took a break halfway through class, Emily called him over to her desk.

"Professor, can you help me with this question? Before class I tried to solve it but I couldn't..." Emily spoke without any particular expression.

The teacher looked at the specific question and thought for a few moments.

"It's really a difficult question if you don't remember some elementary school basics. Your calculation line was correct until you get here." The teacher pointed to some calculations written on the sheet. "But here, where the fraction ends, was where you needed to use some basic math rules."

The teacher then began writing on the simulated, reminding Emily of some of these formulas. He soon arrived at the result.

"And so, the answer is B: X'= 18 and X''= -36. A simple answer to a difficult question." The professor dropped his pencil and went back to his desk.

Emily looked in shock at the answer and then looked at the door.

"How he..."
