It's a Challenge?

Inside the car, Arthur looked at the steering wheel and then at the entire interior. Everything he ever wanted was now a possibility. What he struggled to obtain was now possible with a call.

But for that he plunged into a bottomless abyss. An abyss full of dangers he would have to face, or else he would die. And if it wasn't him, it would be the people he had by his side. Gabriel already warned him that he was a potential target of the guild for his lucky break. He knew it had been his lucky break because he literally almost died in every fight.

Everything around the Guild was simply too difficult for him to understand, or at least interfere with now. And he knew there would be even more as he delved into that abyss. Families like Beatrice's, unknown backgrounds like Magikeen, strong people like Gabriel and there are sure to be crazy psychopaths who can do anything with the power they have. He didn't need to sacrifice his life to know such people existed.

"I need more power!" Arthur let go of the steering wheel and was looking down at his hands. He then looked through the windshield to see what he could of the city. The few people walking around at this time of night. The stores that were closing. "And not just that kind of power. I want the power to control everything... nothing else will get out of my control!"

With this new determination, Arthur firmed his next steps. The Path of Conquest and Power. If something wasn't his, it would only take a snap of his fingers to be. He now had strength and resources. Others may think it's selfishness and obsession, but what do they know? Selfishness is humanity's greatest benefit. If it weren't for that, the world would already be destroyed. And if one is not obsessed with his goal, then goodbye to the dream of achieving it.

If he didn't have the power necessary to get what he wants, he'd kill himself to have it. If he didn't have the necessary resources, then he would kill to get. He was swearing in his heart that his life and the life of the his people would no longer be something controlled by others.

"I have many things to do now. I've spent a lot of time standing..."

Arthur accelerated the car and drove away. His eyes were now steady and convinced. He looked different from the playful exterior he always introduced to the people he liked. Someone who doesn't think about himself when he's alone won't think about others when he's with them.

Thanks to everything that had happened, Arthur was taking some time for himself and driving senseless. The gas was full anyway, so he wouldn't have any trouble running around town. As he didn't want to attract attention, he was riding along the highways, where he could speed as he pleased. It was only at midnight that he returned to the city.

He was at an empty crossroads, with the traffic light on red. Here it was a little further away in the city, so it would be difficult to move around. It was then that he heard the roar of an engine. The window was open so he just looked in the rearview mirror.

It was then that a beautiful Nissan GT-R appeared. It obviously had a modified bodykit and there was even a neon white light on the underside. It was entirely white with silver accents. It looks a lot like street racing cars that are in movies etc. And you could also tell from the roar of the engine that modifications had been made.

It arrived at the side of Arthur's car, with the window opening as well. Arthur looked at the driver, a smile spreading across his face.

"You'll never stop wearing a mask, right?" Arthur asked the other person.

The other person didn't speak, but you could see from her bright blue eyes closing slightly that she was smiling. She was Magikeen.

She was dressed in a modern but somewhat sensual outfit. She wore a white top, with a black jacket over it. Her pants went up to her knee, exposing the rest of her white legs. She wore a cap that matched her hair that was in a ponytail. A black mask also covered her chin to her nose.

Her answer was actually the roar of the car's engine. It was kind of obvious what she wanted.

"Is that a challenge?" Arthur didn't give up either and made his car's engine roar as well. His green eyes met her blue ones.

She made a movement with her eyebrows, teasing Arthur.

"Everything is fine. Whoever wins decides what happens next." Arthur was starting to overthinking, so this would be a nice relief for him. And this would also be a great opportunity to have fun with Magikeen. They had a certain history together, and he didn't think it was so bad to be with her.. "But it would be unfair to me if it was a drag. So how about a race to city hall? Whoever gets there first wins?"

Normally the Mustang's speed would be faster than the GT-R's. But from the roar of the engine, it was clear that the modifications made the car more powerful than usual. So a race would be better and would prove their driving skills.

Magikeen's response was for the windows to close. She already had both hands on the steering wheel, just waiting for the light to turn green.

Arthur also closed the windows while putting on the bluetooth headphones.

"It was really an unexpected surprise that you liked to do this. And also that you were here at this exact moment... It looks like you were watching me..." Playing random music, he watched the signal as he made this observation to himself.

1! 2! 3! Green!

"I can't believe I stayed at that time. The worst of all. But at least it's silent!" Jonas was inside a patrol car. He was taking a break from his patrol for a cup of coffee.

He was thinking about his problems while eating a cake and drinking his coffee.

When he least expected it, a black car and a white car passed at high speed. It was for this reason that he only saw the blur, being able to define little about the cars.

"Holy crap! Aargh" He straightened up in the ambulance, spilling his coffee on his thigh. He grabbed the car radio and hurriedly connected it to the police station, "Central, two cars on Antunes de Sá Street in Central District are speeding!"

"Can you tell which cars, or at least the license plates?" The receptionist on the other side had already answered and registered the occurrence.

"I couldn't even see the car's headlights! I won't even waste my time chasing after, send some cars to chase. They're probably in a race to somewhere, but just in case it's best to put some squad cars at the end of the street."

As soon as the incident was registered, he put the speaker back on the radio.

"Fuck, I'm going to have to change my pants!" He reached for a backpack under the passenger seat. "Tonight is going to be a long night for the police!"

On city roads, the two were competing in skill and speed, always taking the same route and seeing who could get there first.

Arthur was a little clumsy at first, braking at inappropriate times and accelerating when he shouldn't have. But the difference slowly started to fade as he understood Black better and better and surrendered to the adrenaline of acceleration.

His cell phone suddenly started ringing. He only touched his bluetooth headphone lightly before the call was answered. A soft voice he hadn't heard in a long time rang in his ear.

"The police are after us!" It was Magikeen, on the other side.

"That's kind of unfair. Why do you have my number and I don't have yours? I'm sad now!" Arthur pretended he was going to cry on the call, making his voice melancholy.

"You can't be serious, can you?" She scoffed from the other side.

"With a woman as beautiful as you? I have to at least be funny. Handsome I already am, it has to have one more feature!" He spoke with indignation.

"Ha! Shut up!" Magikeen laughed a little before hanging up and the music returned.

The police at this point were already tracking the two cars through the surveillance cameras at the traffic lights. They were organizing an ambush near City Hall, which seemed to be the final destination of the cars.

"How's it going?" The delegate appeared in the surveillance room.

"It's all in order. We don't know if they have any way of knowing about us, but as the cars keep going there, it's likely not." A policeman spoke. He was the one monitoring the cameras.

"Someone with the resources to put such high-performance vehicles in city should be known. There's no reading of the plates?" She found this strange and asked. There were usually speedometers that recorded the fine in some places they passed. They seemed to avoid most, but there were a few that the highway patrol decided to hide.

"There is no way to read the license plates. They always appear blurry, and all we know is it's a last-gen Shelby GT500 and a modified Nissan GT-R."

"Continue with the operation. I still have a few things to sort out." The delegate left the room after that.

"Did you miss me?" Arthur asked with a smile as he spoke to Magikeen on the phone again. She had just called.

"The last street we're going to pass is closed. Wouldn't it be better to take a detour?"

"Why? Are you scared?" Arthur teased a little.

"Alright then... Let's go!" Magikeen felt stirred and immediately agreed.

***

"They are already arriving! Get organized!"

The police were already fully prepared and closed all escape routes. They get ready and already have the gun in hand.

In the distance, they heard the sound of two speeding cars. The noise of the tire trying to rip the earth and the roar of the engine when changing gears.

"Stop immediately! This is the police!" A police officer who appeared to be the leader of the operation spoke into a megaphone for them to hear.

But the cars didn't stop for nothing.

"If you don't stop, we'll shoot!" The streets were closed and it was already dawn. Even if there was no one, the cars wouldn't stop anytime soon.

But whoever was driving cared little for that. They watched as the black Shelby took off at the last moment and passed the traffic light first than the GT-R.

Then, as if in a coordinated motion, the two cars went in two different directions. Black went to the right, while white swerved to the left..

"Shoot!"

When the order was given, all the police officers tried to shoot the car tires. Some also tried to shoot the engine.

But what they didn't expect was that an invisible force field was protecting both cars, and neither bullet ended up hitting.

"I knew it! I owe you a kiss later!" Arthur told Magikeen on the call.

"Who wants a kiss from you? Humpf!" Mazikeen grumbled on the other end as they hung up.

The cops behind were shocked and gaping. The backs of the two squad cars that the vehicles collided in were dented, while them were completely fine. Not even the shots caught!

"Chase, come on, come on!"

Arriving home, Arthur parked the car in the garage before getting out with a smile on his face. He really enjoyed it now, after spending so much time thinking. Nothing better to consolidate a goal than to feel the pleasure of having it.

After checking that there were no scratches, Arthur's conviction to give Magikeen a grateful kiss grew. After all, she used that blue energy again to help him. That was worthy of his thanks.

"Thomas? Ah, he's already sleeping..." Arthur arrived and very slowly opened the door to Thomas' room. He spoke quietly and locked it back when he saw that he was sleeping.

Before going to his room, he decided to stop by Amanda's room. She usually stayed up these hours. He knew this from her visits to him in the training room.

"Amanda? Are you here?" He did the same thing and opened the door. The doors inside the house were always open, as there was no need to lock.

But when he looked around the room, he saw that she was nowhere to be found.

"Amanda!?" He yelled when he was in the living room. Unless she was underground, she could hear it. He wasn't afraid to wake Thomas up because the room was soundproof.

He went down to the training room and saw that she wasn't there either.

Then, opening a certain app on his cell phone, he looked at Amanda's cell phone location.

Before he lost control and crushed the cell phone, he had already put it in the Inventory again. His eyes were kind of unfocused and he wasn't sure what he was feeling right now.

"Will rain today..."

Grabbing a cap and mask, as well as an umbrella, Arthur walked out of the house. His eyes had now lost their bright hue and were cold, with streaks of red in the iris.
