Breaking, never mending hearts

"What?" Ruppen catches me looking at him, and quickly writes something in his paper, 'Huh?'

He puts it in an angle I'd be able to see from, and what was written in it was-'What? Am I too handsome to resist?'

"Nonsense," I mutter, "Idiot."

"Who is laughing?" The teacher asks, glancing in our direction. "Anything funny, here?"

'Yes! That's the exact question I want to ask that scoundrel.' He always eradicates my spirit for the worse. I curse him some more, before finally getting into the flow of what the teacher was discussing about-after three profound breaths.

'tsh' Something rough, yet soft bumps into my head. 'Ao-aw' I yelp, as I turn to look at it. Looking behind me, I saw what looked like a crippled note, torn from a classwork copy?

Picking it up, I see that there was a smirky face drawn on it, and beside the smirky emoji, it was written-'Rosaline, it's alright. You don't have to be embarrassed. I know, I am handsome. You can admit it, I won't mind.'

What did this stupid guy write here? At the end of the note, he wrote-'By- the handsome you are drooling all over.'

'Huh-what the nerve of that guy.' What does he mean by saying, "he won't mind?" Who cares if he minds or not-does anyone even give heed to that?! And who was drooling at him, dogmatic idiot?

"Lisa?" A guy standing in front of me, says. 'Huh-when did he get here?'

And, looking to the front I see the teacher seemed to be long gone. Everyone in the classroom had gotten up from their seats, and they seemed to be reconciled with one another, after the long break.

"Ah-hey, Ibrahim." I greet the boy standing in front of me. He was well known for his good looking body, for attaining it at this youthful age. He was always the first one to compel against anyone trying to bully a junior. The one who was always ready to oppose inequity.

"Whats-up!" He says. I shrug with a reply, "Great," before asking him, "What about you?"

"Ahh-fine, I'd say?" What he said, seemed to be more of a question to himself, than an actual answer of how he was.

"Where were you vacating?" I ask him. He cringes his brows and replies, "Maldives."

"Woo! That must be enticing?!" I have always loved the Maldives, it is always the first name on my travel list, whenever I make one.

But, mom and I didn't get to visit the Maldives after the last time we had gone there with dad.

"Yeah, it was," Saying that he glances back, to my right. "Hey Lis!" Kevin, another guy in our class comes up to me with all smiles.

He was another big bright boy in our class. "Hey," I say to him, with a smile, "How are you?" I ask him. "Great," and like always, Kevin sparks a prominent smile as he adds, "What about you? How are you?"

"I am alright." I say to him, before adding "Where did you go-like for your vacations?"

"I went to our family house." He says to me. Kevin was the only son of his mother and father. And they were both doctors, so they always had to be outside conducting surgeries and Kevin had quite grown used to being solitary, in the house with all the housekeepers.

But, whenever, he'd get holidays from school, his parents would make sure to plan a long visit to their family house, the Edwards' main house.

"And I bet it was super awesome there?" I say to him with a soft smile. "It was," he replies, with a small smile blossoming on the corner of his face.

"What about yours?" Another boy, Calvin comes to me and stands beside the other two. "Hey, Cal!" I welcome him, "How are you?"

"Good." He replies with a shrug. "What about you?" He had always been the sober-serious type. If you talk to him about ten things, then he'll reply with one short answer. That's just how he has always been, not with us though.

"Just fine," I replied, shrugging my shoulders.

"So-" Ibrahim asks, looking back at me. "So-?" I ask, perplexed at what these guys are trying to say. "How was 'your' vacation, Rosie?" Kevin asked.

"Oh-umm" I look at them, as I say, "It was great. I had to spend my vacation, with my grandpa."

"Oh, that's nice," Calvin says, nodding his head. "Yes, it is." I say with a smile, "Grandma is sick, so I was there helping him in the fields and, taking care of grandma."

"Wow, seriously-" Kevin exclaims, tilting his head to look at the others. "Lisa!" Cambria comes to me with a hug, and she says, "You are so awesome," she murmurs against my ears. 'She was listening?' I smile tilting my head, to her.

"Aww-no, you are the awesome one, Cambria," I say to her, gently touching her hands, hugging me.

"Who is awesome?" Maria says as she comes through our door. "Ah-dude, where were you gone?"

"I was feeling a bit sick." She weakly smiled as she got back on her seat. "You alright, now?"

"Yes," Touching her head she says in a low tone, "I guess it is just jet lag."

"Let's go and see Mrs Spencer?" I say to her. Mrs Spencer was our all-time-school doctor. She was the one who would treat our injuries or medical problems at school, if we'd get wounded, or whenever we'd feel unwell, of any sort.

"I just went to meet her, and she said I am just tired, and weak."

"Did she give you any meds to take?" I ask her again. "Yes, she did. Only one and don't worry" she says again, ensuring me with a smile, "I am alright."

"Make sure to tell us, if you feel discomfiting in any way." Lucas' voice says, in his usual baritone voice. 'Huh!' I turn around. Darting my eye at him, who is leaning onto me to talk to Maria, I say, "Dude, why do you always have to give me heart attacks?!"

"Hah-" Grinning he says to me, "Because I take fantasy in it."

"Seriously, man. Like are you going to get a girl, to take interest in you, if you keep this attitude of yours?!" I say to him, feeling enraged for obvious reasons.

He stares at me for some time, before lordly replying, "I am awesome already, I don't need to do extra things to make them like me."

"Are you-?" I laugh at his silliness. "These skills are not enough to impress a girl,"

"Then what skills are required to impress a girl, Rosaline?" Rupper's rigid voice, says from somewhere beside me. 'Ah-he knows I soo hate this name, but he still-'

Turning towards Ruppen, I say to him, "Things, you'll never have." I add, knowing how he hates being called, "Alex."

"Why? Oh right, I am not probing for girls who have never kissed anyone in their life, ever—huh" he scoffs, eyeing me, "Such girls, with no experience, aren't worth it at all."

"What do you mean?!" I roar at him. 'What was this guy's problem!"

Why did he always have to be such a nuisance?

"Those are the types of girls, not everyone has the luck to be with," out of nowhere, Lucas says startling everyone including me.

"Aww," Some of the girls start to whisper, "Our king likes naive and inexperienced virgins."

"Ahh really?" Ruppen raises his eyebrow as he glowers at Lucas. "Is it," he glances back at me.

"Ruppen," I call him, "Shut up and go back to your seat."

"Why should I? I also want to see how these chickens get galvanized." Ruppen tells.

"You'll never be capable, of understanding them," I say to him, returning the same smirks and sneers at him. "Jerks who only know how to play and break hearts, won't possibly know how to adore and cherish a heart."

Hearing my firm affirmations against him, Ruppen thankfully didn't say anything more. He also no longer had that god—damn—annoying grin on his face, and it made me feel so good! It is pleasing, to know my words influenced him, this snobby guy.
