A look of delight flashed on Merel's face at hearing this but it was soon replaced by a frown.
"That sounds amazing but I struggled enough trying to write 'silent' something as complicated as that would be too hard."
[The tome can assist Merel with the dilemma at hand, one of the prime functions of this tome is to guide the user through a meditative state of concentration. Through this method you will experience realistic visions about the runes in question this can assist Merel in more readily finding the meaning of the rune.]
Hearing the tomes new information Merel regained his hopeful expression.
"Then let's do that now."
[The tone suggests you provide the enchantment you would like to inscribe.]
Taking his time to collect his ideas on what kind of enchantment he would make he grew excited at the possibilities of what he could do with this.
Settling down his excitement and memorizing his ideas, Merel finally told the tome the enchantment he had in mind.
[The enchantment Merel wants to inscribe is complicated this may cause you to be in a meditative state for an extended period. The tome suggests getting in a comfortable position.]
Hearing this Merel was worried that somebody might come in while he was unresponsive.
Getting up Merel moved the furniture in the room against the door holding it shut.
Ensuring he wouldn't be killed during this trance he grabbed the roll of cloth, pulling it over himself and wrapping himself in it as a makeshift bed.
He avoided sleeping in the bed because who knows what kind of medieval diseases or parasites are still lingering on it.
Writhing around in the roll of cloth for a while merel finally found a comfortable position.
Exclaiming out loud to the tome on the floor beside his head he said...
"I'm comfortable you can start now."
The tome began to glow before a tendril of light flew out of the tome and into his head before fading.
Nothing spectacular was happening on the outside but Merel felt as if his conciousness was being torn from his body as his eye lids grew heavier with each passing second until he couldn't keep them open and closing his eyes he was dragged into darkness.
Out of the encompassing darkness that swallowed him whole came a small bright light that grew until it became a blinding sun.
Merel not knowing where he was closed his eyes, waiting for the blinding light to fade, he opened his eyes the light was still glaringly bright but bearable.
His pupils shrinking whilst blinking multiple times until his eyes adjusted to the surroundings he finally saw what was around him.
White, as far as the eye can see. The floor featureless and uniform. Merel who was in the same position he was in from when he first came here finally got up to better observe from a higher vantage point.
'This must be what the tome was talking about.'
Thinking this in a calm manner unusual of somebody in a strange and unfamiliar place Merel saw a dark figure standing out in complete contrast to this place.
As the figure walked coming closer and closer, his outline growing as it approached the sound of metal clanking became audible becoming the only sound to come from this place.
Finally as it got close enough for Merel to make out the details he saw it was a Knight in metal armour walking with a steady and calm pace towards him.
Merel was fascinated seeing a genuine knight in 'real life' but his interest waned as it drew it's sword and increased it's walking pace. His heart beginning to race as the towering Knight shifted into a slight run, Merel turned around and starting running as fast as his small frame could go but when he turned around he despaired.
The knight was still gaining on him in fact it felt as if he hadn't moved at all. His fight or flight response shifted to 'fight' as he braced himself raising his arms and balling his hands into fists.
Merel knew it was insane to think he could beat a fully armed and armoured knight with his bare hands let alone with his young body but since this was a dream of sorts he found a supply of hope to fuel his confidence.
As the knight finally came within striking distance he stopped perfectly at the point of engagement.
A voice that lacked any life and emotion much like the tome rang out from the knight.
"Draw your sword."
Merel shocked at what the knight said looked around the floor for a sword but finding none it was then he felt a weight at his hip looking down he saw the weapon in question.
'Since when was that there.'
Throwing away his confusion at why he only noticed that now he remembered it was all in his imagination.
He followed the knight's order and drew the sword only for the knight to swiftly draw an arc in air straight through him.
