Love, Joy, Heartache, and Pain.

It was the day after tryouts.

Brian was sitting at the Roasted Bean, the cafe next to his dorm.

What will you be having sir?

The pretty waitress smiled and gently asked.

Just coffee, black.

Wait a moment; it'll be right up.

Brian looked at her black and white uniform, then at her little name tag at the right corner of her chest, that said, Julie.

Usually, he would have said something nice about her name or a funny comment, but today he was in no mood to socialize.

"Yesterday, sure was harsh."

Well, it was my own fault for falling too fast for someone I hardly knew.

Flashes of the day before ran through his memories, starting with the big revelation.

Seriously!

Is Bash really your brother?

Brian didn't know how to react to this unexpected development.

Yah, he is, we're twins, actually!

I can't believe you like my brother that's---

Lexy cringed her eyes and bit her lower lip.

Brian's heartbeat quickened. It felt like a car drove from his chest all the way down to his knees. He too bit his lower lip.

"Is she mad?"

"Of course, she is, you doofus!"

"It's her brother, no wait. Bash is her freaking twin!"

Brian was almost about to jump down from the bleachers when Lexi's joyful, ear-splitting scream startled...but calmed his speeding heart.

"Aaie"

Lexy's whole body leaped up with pure joy. Her heart jumped into her throat, and she was getting lightheaded. The girl was so happy that she didn't even care about making a scene.

The people around them looked at her with even more contempt.

Be cool, girl dam!

So..rry, I got too carried away.

You sure did!

I'm sorry it's just that this is too great; the whole thing is perfect, actually.

Like, for real?

Duh! This is the best news.

Brian didn't know what to make of this weirdly, unforeseen reaction.

You do realize that I'm a guy, right!

Yeah So....

I always wanted my brother to have someone, girl or boy don't matter to me, as long as they loved and could be there for him when.....

Lexy stopped herself fast.

I..ah...I mean that..um, never mind.

"This is the second time she stops mid-sentence...like is there something she's hiding from me?."

"I bet this has to do with the way people were looking and talking about her earlier."

"What could it be?"

Brian was confused and a bit curious, but he didn't say anything.

"Ahem"

Lexy awkwardly coughed.

What I meant to say was that I want Bash to be happy, gender isn't an issue, he's a great guy and the perfect brother.

Brian nodded. He knew how amazing Sebastian was. There was no denying that.

He couldn't help but look at the field to try and find Bash's silhouette. After finally finding the number ten, Brian smile. Bash was completely focused on the rookies, who were otherwise terrible.

The guy was having a hard time out there, but he still seems gorgeous in Brian's eyes.

He then turned his attention back to Lexy.

"Yeah, these two sure are Godlike siblings."

Maybe you don't, but what about him, Does Bash like guys?

I'm not sure, but I always had my doubts. We are twins, after all! That's why I was so happy when you said it was him that guy you were crushing on.

Brian's heart skipped a few beats. The shocking revelation gave him more hope than ever before.

"Is this for real? Am I hearing things?"

"Bash could be gay or bi that's just too good to be true."

However, I'm not 100% sure, so I can't guarantee it.

Brian only smiled in response.

Anyways.

Sometimes, I can't help but worry about him. I feel like there is no one who actually cares, nor really understands him. They only see Bash, the hot soccer team's captain, but that's not the real him. There is more to him than just that!

Brian frown.

Of course, there is more! So much more!

Bash is thoughtful and kind, even with people that he barely knows. He's strong, but not proud; he's caring and a bit crafty.

I've only known him for a week. However, he's been nothing but great.

When I'm with Bash, he takes away all my sorrows and the pain of the past. There is no space for melancholy because next to him, everything makes more sense.

Bash takes away my tears, which are then replaced by laughter instead. When we are together, it feels as if the whole world stops turning.

So yeah! There is definitely more to him than just being the hot soccer team's captain!

Brian was getting angry. He didn't know that people saw Bash as just having a pretty face and nothing more.

"How dare they!"

Calm down. You doofus is not like he's your boyfriend.

Lexy was very pleased with this reaction, and those words wow.

Brian definitely like's Bash, maybe even more than like, this might just work.

The way you talk about my brother gives me hope that maybe he will have someone great at his side in the future.

Brian blushed.

"God, I got a little carried away there."

Sorry, that was too much.

What? No! That was beautiful.

You really like him a lot, don't you?

Brian was turning into a tomato.

"There is no use denying it now; after all of that, you doofus!"

Covering his face, Brian nodded.

Lexy smiled at him, looking breathtaking as ever.

You don't have to be embarrassed; I love the way you talk about him.

He's a lucky guy.

I wish that Emma could feel half of what you feel for Bash.

That witch only cares about looking pretty and being the girlfriend of the soccer team's captain... she has never been good enough for my brother.

Brian's head raised up like a speeding bullet. Sorrow, heartache, and sickening, unfathomable pain impaled his now broken heart.

Each trace of hope suddenly vanish.

All those feelings were so evident on his face that Lexy was able to tell right away.

OMG, I'm sorry, I can be so unassertive sometimes.

I didn't want you to find out like that, I swear.

It's fine; it's not your fault. You don't have to apologize.

But I do, I'm really sorry. However, you don't have to lose hope. Emma is a horrible person; they won't last.

You sure are optimistic!

None the less, the reality is that he has a..a girlfriend. "God, that word hurts like hell" So I should just give up.

Just because they are having problems doesn't mean he'll get interested in me. Anyways that isn't a good enough reason to get between them.

Every word Brian said made him more and more depressed.

"Is this really the end?"

Tears started to gather, and Brian fought hard to kip them inside.

"No! "No! "No!

"You are not allowed to cry."

Dammit, don't you dare cry, you dam doofus!

Don't say that. I know for a fact that she isn't a nice person, and she doesn't care about Bash, so you still have a chance.

Brian's heart was bleeding, but he didn't want to show it. He could only smile weakly and try to forget about Bash.

I guess Sebastian is not my SUN, after all.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Time passed in a blink of an eye, and the tryouts were over.

In the end, they only let four people join the team. The rest were just terrible.

Brian was still talking to Lexy, but he was too heartbroken to press attention to anything she was saying. He didn't even notice when Bash got there.

Hey, it looks like you two met each other.

When they heard bash's voice, they both looked his way.

Lexy smiled in response, but Brian couldn't, no matter how hard he tried.

"OH God, he's here!"

"Act cool! Don't let him see how completely broken you actually are."

Hey...

"Why is he acting so weird all of a sudden?"

"He always smiled when he saw me."

Hey, bro, done with the rookies already.

Yup! They were quite the hustle, though.

I bet!

So...

What did you guys talk about when I wasn't here?

NOTHING!!

Brian responded way too loudly.

Lexy looked at him with a mischievous smile. Brian's hair was utterly standing on ends.

He was practically pleading her not to say anything.

What he meant was that it was nothing worth mentioning, pretty boring stuff.

Bash arched a brown.

Are You sure?

Yeah, that's what I meant.

"God, kill me now!"

So Bri, do you think you may want to join the team after watching the tryouts?

Brian looked back at him, and his heart felt heavy; the pain wasn't living anytime soon.

It took him three deep breath to respond.

Umm yeah..no..I mean, I don't think so.

Bash frowned.

Why not?

Bash asked a little possessively.

I just don't feel like soccer is the sport for me, that's all.

I see.

Bash was a little disheartened. The light on his eyes was fading fast.

Lexy looked at the two of them and couldn't help but sight.

"God, these two are helpless!"

Bash was getting a bit annoyed.

"Is he mad at me or something? Why doesn't he want to join the team?"

"Wait, why am I this annoyed? If he joins the team or not, shouldn't concern me one bit like what the hell!"

Lexy couldn't take the tension anymore, so she decided to change the subject.

Hey guys, why don't we have a drink or something?

Bash regained his enthusiasm after hearing that.

That's a terrific idea, let's do it! What do you think, Bri?

Umm, that sounds awesome, but I can't. I have a date later tonight.

"I have to distance myself from him as much as possible. If I don't, this painful wound will never heal."

Lexy looked at him with annoyance. She Knew for a fact that he didn't have plans and certainly not a date.

However, Brian avoided her gaze.

"For the love of God."

On the other hand, Bash didn't say anything, nor did he react in any way. To Brian, Bash was completely "unfazed".

"A date, is that what he said? Yes, a date!"

"With whom? Who is this person, and where did they come from?"

A weird feeling was rapidly overtaking him.

A feeling Bash rarely felt but Knew very well.

"Am I jealous no...that's ridiculous."

"But why then, why do I resent this person I have never met. No, I hate them, actually!"

"What on earth is wrong with me?"

"I love Emma! These feelings are probably nothing; I'm just overthinking like always."

Are you sure you can't stay?

Brian looked at Lexy and nodded, no.

She frowned but didn't press any further.

If he has a date, then we shouldn't force him to stay. "Brian" should go to his date! We can hang out some other time.

"I knew it! Bash doesn't even care. Why would he?"

Okay, I better go now. I'll be seeing you guys some other time.

Lexy couldn't do anything about this situation, so she only smiled and waved goodbye.

Bash was extremely annoyed, but he didn't let it show on his face. He, too, only said goodbye.

Walking alone on the dark streets, Brian saw as people walked by holding hands, this time he couldn't keep it in any longer, and the tears fell, like a miniature waterfall.
